Clausen is not that bad. I'm disappointed that the Action Cats wanted to stack another QB on top of this debacle. They should be focused on getting the big uglies on both sides of the line.

...just saw previous page. i would not mind getting McNabb and letting Clausen develop a little more.

hell i also wouldn't mind resurrecting a Culpepper or Jeff Garcia for a season or so. the league minimum for those guys is well worth it.

He is that bad. The only QB's in the past ten years with a worse passer rating have been JaMarcus Russell, Andrew Walter and Kordell Stewart.

No truth to the rumor that Newton's dad is offering Richardson $180,000 to not select his son.

Two weeks ago my buddy came out with one of his work buddies who graduated from Notre Dame two years back. He said that Clausen was the biggest tool around campus. Not even his own teammates like him.

Clausen sucks, is a cancer to the team, and think's his shit smells like roses.

as much as Clausen sucks...think about the first time you saw him under center for the Panthers...first preseason game...granted its against vanilla defenses, but he comes up to center...calls out who the mike is for a protection audible...makes a nice 10-12 yard completion...I thought to myself, he's young, inexperienced, but he has some promise...he seems comfortable making pre-snap adjustments, he looks like a quarterback who has played in a pro-style offense for awhile

certainly that amounted to jack shit this season, but he at least got better as the season went on...I'll take 1 TD pass and 1 INT over 0 TD and 3 INTs all day...not having Otah or Deangelo hurt him a lot

I know I'm being way too optimistic, but maybe with a year under his belt, if Clausen puts on 15-20 pounds of muscle (read 'arm strength'), if he gets a better work ethic and spends more time studying film, maybe he can at least be a serviceable QB...combine that with Gettis and Lafell getting another year under their belts and a healthier run game, and maybe we win 6 or 7 games next season

probably not but what the fuck else do I have to look forward to...we couldve won 4-5 games this year...if Kasay makes a FG, if a play here or there goes our way...and while 4-12 or 5-11 are nothing to write home about, and dont give you the #1 pick overall...at least we're not completely terrible

sigh

There's nobody else at QB I like in the draft.

I thought Locker looked really good in all the games I watched he was in, but apparently he sucks now.

I would like to go defense, and if Moore and Clausen still suck as bad as they did this year, we'll be in position to draft a high QB again.

also that Vick kid in Philly put up semi-decent numbers when healthy this season

This was a great move! I'm sure another with another year in college he will win a PAC-10 Championship and generate even more hype for himself going into the NFL!

this is the worst day in franchise history

its only made worse by the fact that were going to end up taking daquan bowers who probably gets fat and lazy after making bank

if bowers is really a potential haynesworth than no way take him, I'm not sure how bad his rep is, I guess that leaves fairley who is dirty, so hell maybe we should take a cornerback

Wasn't a coordinator but Belichick started in Cleveland. Wasn't the Browns D fairly decent anyway? Anyone got those numbers?

13th in PPG defense, 13th in takeaways, 22nd in YPG with mediocre to bad talent

[Edited on January 6, 2011 at 10:33 PM. Reason : Plus Browns O was 29th that hurts the D ranking with them being out there more]

is there anywhere to see pre-draft rankings? i guess scout won't put them up til everybody's declared. I don't even know who is "supposed to be good".

also, take a wr/dt/cb/ol now, tank, then grab Matt Barkley #1 next year to fuck with Luck's money even more

Honestly, unless Newton changes my mind in the championship game or workouts, I'd go with the following (in this order)

Patrick Peterson: Get rid of Marshall, use Captain is the nickelback. A starting CB duo of Gamble and Peterson is pretty damn respectable. Plus, Peterson is a hell of a punt returner. There's talk he might move to safety, which is fine, because Godfrey just isn't that good.

Prince Amakamuh or whatever his name is: Same as above; only went with Peterson because he's a game changer as a punt returner.

AJ Green: Don't really need another young WR, but he's probably got the highest ceiling in the whole draft. Still, taking WR's early scares me.

That DT from Auburn: Don't know a damn thing about him, don't even know his name (Nick something) but we really need some help on the interior line. He's supposedly another Suh

[Edited on January 6, 2011 at 11:51 PM. Reason : And grab another QB later in the draft. Maybe Gabbert, Ponder, even Kellen Moore if he comes out]

well I'm looking through the mock drafts, they aren't as good as the nba ones but most seem to have us with aj green or bowhers, with a few that says we'll get petersen, interesting I haven't seen one with fairley even though DT is supposed to be our biggest need; I guess no one really feels he's quite that good

if we did get petersen, i'm pretty sure he'd be the only corner ever selected number one, green I don't know I don't remember ever being blown away by him but we do need a WR, personally I think if petersen is expected to be revis/bailey level it would certainly be worth the pick

Did Carolina get another 1st rounder?

Don't forget, the Panthers also don't have their 2nd this year either. You can thank Armanti for that one

What is the 2012 draft order if there's a lockout? Keeping the same order doesn't seem fair, though it would be awesome for the Panthers

That's a good one. Maybe you can call Luck's decision making skills into question because his stock can't get any higher. Best case his NFL hype stays the same, average case his stock will go down, worst case he gets injured and has no career.

Same with Harbaugh. Grab the cash when your stock is at it's highest. Don't give it another year, because when you're at the top the only direction your stock could go is down.

Luck cites finishing his degree. You can do that in 10 years when you're sitting on a pile of money and a lot of free time. Seriously, the only reason Luck wouldn't go pro this year is because he doesn't want to play for the Panthers. Joke is on him though. Unless there's an expansion team the Panthers will probably end up with 1st pick again next year when they finish last.
