New Cold Cave is good, but for what it is, I think I prefer In Ghost Colours by Cut Copy.

Not that the two should really be compared.

Did anyone grab/have a link to that new Dodos? It was up on what.cd briefly, but got taken down due to a low bitrate. I really want to hear it, low bitrate or not.

I'm really enjoying the new R.E.M. album. It's worlds better than their last few.

third strokes jam from the new album performed on snl

tempo changes and a weird bridge

much, much better than the second track we heard

not as good as the first

^Oh, good, I was watching that and thinking, "This isn't that bad." I thought the second song they played last night was the second song they released from the album that everyone hated (which I haven't heard yet). I liked both songs they played last night.

And, yeah, you're right, that transition to the bridge was pretty jarring everytime they went to it. Good, though.

EDIT: Just listened to the terrible one, "You're So Right." Yeah, it's not very good. Pretty blatant Radiohead ripoff.

just saw this.... did you ever grab it, because i can get it to you?

i was surprised by how good i thought it was on first listen. neko case's contributions seemed so seamless and natural, and start to finish it's pretty solid.

still looking forward to a properly mixed version.

Couldn't get into the PJ Harvey.

But I'm all over the new Kurt Vile...currently competing with Destroyer and Smith Westerns for my favorite of the year so far...sometimes Pitchfork is right.

^x7 I was able to track it down and grab it. Thanks, though. Definitely diggin' it more than Time to Die

I was also pleasantly surprised by the new PJ Harvey.

New Kurt Vile is good, but Kurt Vile/The War On Drugs are always good.

Its a real shame about Lasers by Lupe Fiasco, you can smell the label interference from a mile away. half the tracks have some weak Drake-esque vibe. Nowhere near food & liquor or the cool

The new Dodos album is definitely good. I'm super impressed with the instrumentation, and neko case's accompanying vocals add a lot.

That said, this album doesn't touch Visitor in terms of stand-out tracks (e.g., Fools, Red and Purple, The Season) and diversity of songs.

^ yup, and the drumming is so distinctive and original.

Another album I'm really digging right now is Papercuts- Fading Parade. It has a nice low key hazy vibe similar to Beach House and Atlas Sound. I've enjoyed other Papercuts albums, but this is the first one that has blown me away.

Turns out Donald Glover is good.

He's part of the burgeoning genre of dudes with integral non-leading parts on ensemble network television shows.

I hope Troy doesn't get shot by Chang like Drake and Rick.

I agree. There are some songs that I like. "Words I Never Said", "Till I Get There", "Show Goes On", and the one with John Legend is decent...I've only listened to album one full time so maybe it'll grow on me. But it's definitely no Food & Liquor or The Cool. Those are great albums.

If pressed, I could probably write out a timeline of all the major plot points in Degrassi Junior High, Degrassi High, and the first seven or so seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation.

*sigh*

^Haha, I'm not going to lie, I would follow The Next Generation pretty closely when I was younger. I definitely remember the episode where Jimmy gets shot, the episode when Ashley takes ecstasy, the episode when JT gets stabbed and dies, the episode where we found out that Marco was gay and Ellie was just a beard, the episode(s) where Craig is abused by his father, the episode where Paige gets date-raped, etc. That show covered everything, haha...That part of my life where I was into shows like that seems like such a distant part of who I am now. Still, you can imagine my surprise when Jimmy got signed to Cash Money, haha.

Anyway, to keep this thread on track, digging the new Pains of Being Pure at Heart.

New TVOTR song is totally different from the first song and even more awesome. That opening riff is addictive. I think I'm just gonna love everything those guys do.

It will definitely be interesting to see what comes out as the "definitive" version of Smile, since hundreds of hours of stuff and dozens of logically arranged full versions have surfaced over the years. I'm pumped that the album itself will be in mono like it's supposed to be, but we'll see what it's like I suppose.
