This year's lineup is as impressive, to me at least, as last year's was. There's definitely a lot of great bands on there, but not a lot of bands that I haven't seen before.

That being said, 2xVIP purchased. I had the most fun imaginable last year, and I know this year will be just as rad.

i think this year will require a little bit more research, but i'm already digging the bands i hadn't heard before (like dawn golden & rosy cross, JEFF the brotherhood)

they're gone now

edit: now they're back; must be a small enough number that it looks sold out if people have them in their cart

[Edited on April 20, 2011 at 12:56 PM. Reason : Sold out for real now. 3 hours.]

somebody on NewRaleigh mentioned that they lost 50k last year. Any truth to this? I was hoping that for all the hard work it was a more successful venture.

I think it was closer to 40k, but the owner of the Independent made it very clear the week after the festival that he had lost money on it but expected to make it back in coming years since it was so successful.

^Thanks, I am guessing it could be viewed as an early investment. I am sure there will be increased financial support through ticket sales, sponsorships, and merchandising opportunities this year.

I would guess that the $25 ticket bump will help make up from last years losses as well.

I don't think Public Enemy's $$$ price tag helped last year

Well the VIPs went from selling out in a month to selling out in 3 hours, so I presume other ticket sales will be better as well. Did any other ticket levels end up selling out last year? I can't remember.

this isn't exactly shocking. like at all. it was brand new. i feel as though it went way better than it could have last year and exceeded ALL expectations. so.

And given the scope of the festival and some of the acts they pulled, losing $40k isn't all that much.

This is probably my only chance to see krallice ever, at least before they have so many .comlbums that ill never see anything off their first record. Last time they played here was like 2009 in asheville and they didn't have like a tour page or anything haha. Bought a ticket based soley on that... haven't even seen what other bands are playing but I heard liturgy is as well

Last year was 5,500. This year, the fire marshal approved a a larger crowd, but Greg said their going to keep it minimal so it's not too crowd.

My guess would be 6,000 this year.

I think The Rosebuds announcement is that they're going their separate ways and hopscotch is their last/retirement show.

just a hunch
