Good overall performance by State today except for a few stretches where we reverted to our old selves(like the last 4 minutes). Maryland played a great offensive game today and it was just a little too much in the end. Jordan Williams owned us. He's on his way to the first team all-conference.

good overall effort today. we got down early, didn't quit and made a big run, led at half time and played pretty well offensively. Maryland shot lights out and part of that was due to our defense, but you'd still expect them to miss sometime. i'm a little disappointed we lost, but not at all disappointed by the effort.

Stoglin and Gregoy were both making a lot of WTF?! jump shots. I think the interior defense was really the biggest problem. Williams victimized us more than expected.

I would agree. At the very least our freshman are showing growth. It's going to be hard to replace a guy like Tracy Smith (especially with an apparent wasted scholly down low in Vandenderg) but this team should be markedly better, no matter who is on the sidelines.

I've said it often but the most improvement a college player typically makes is the freshman to sophomore jump. A full year of weight training, a full year of a scheduled diet and a full year of high-major level practices is so important (which is why I was NEVER one of those people who thought 'Zo not qualifying last year was a good thing)

It'll probably go overlooked, but Maryland stepped up their D in the paint in the second half down the stretch. They were giving Smith and Leslie trouble in the paint for the last 5 minutes or so, and we couldn't hit any perimeter shots to help clear up the lanes.
