maybe this means staal was demoted to the third line.

Funny story from the game... Carcillo ran mcbain, mcbain dodged the check but carcillo caught a little bit of him. But all it served to do was whip his torso forward, and carcillo face planted into the glass. He smashed the fuck out of his nose, grabbed it and skated to the bench. It was awesome. What a dumb ass

Eric Staal was -4 for the game.

1-for-1 trade for Rick Nash

you realize he has similar +/- problems and has only scored over 70 pts in a season once, right?

this is all fun to talk about and everything, but do you really think Rutherford would ever get rid of Staal? No fucking way. JR has shown how loyal he is to fan favorite, "face of the team" type players (i.e. Larose)

well sure, that can be said about anyone, but people (not necessarily people on tww) are making it sound like Staal should, and could, be traded today.

Once again - may never happen or even be smart, but I'd like to see him benched for a game.

I wonder how long Bobby Boucher will continue as our backup. I'm hoping he can pull through. If we are going to continue to forecheck with offensive defensemen we need to make sure every breakaway doesn't go in when Ward is resting. I thought Boucher Played great for two periods but them he lost all confidence just like that. He was way out of position for Jagr's backhander

1 for 22 on the PP over the last five games.

I wish they kept stats for quick goals after a PK for the opposing team.

Larose's was a bit of a sell on the Tampa guy

Jokinen and Skinner together are so fun to watch!

I wish Staal had someone on his line other than Tlusty and LaRose.

Duke, UNC Hospital and NCSU need to figure out a way to take stem cells from skinner and give them to every other player on that team

It's curious to me the road that Lecavallier has taken and the road that Eric Staal might end up taking...

Stamkos comes in and is the new hot stuff in town, Lecavallier takes a smaller offensive roll on the team as he becomes a more mature player.

Skinner comes in and is obviously the new hot stuff in town (the kid plays amazing hockey!), and Staal... granted, once again, he's playing with Tlusty and LaRose... I'm wondering if he'll ever get to 90+ points again.

Thus concludes our random thought.

Chad LaRose 8 points
Jiri Tlusty 6 points
Eric Staal 5 points

Who doesn't belong on the line?

I like the (stealing from Buffalo [and others?]) of the playing of Forslund's play-by-play call on the replay after a goal

^ AFAIK Buffalo is the only one to play the audio immediately after the goal. After Pegula bought the team mid last season, they took suggestions from fans on how to make the game day experience better, that was one of the clear winners.

I'd like to see this expanded to other markets. It is real awesome live.

hopefully Dalpe can use this as an opportunity to prove himself worthy of top six/top nine minutes after he gets called up from his Charlotte stint

The question of the moment for me is with all these new investors coming in, will this team be willing to spend a bit more on talent? One can hope I suppose, but that's probably all.

per chip, Jokinen has had 2 MRIs and they "dodged a bullet"

Maurice said he's "close" to being week-to-week. So I guess we may see him sooner than 4 weeks.

^closer to day to day now
Quote :
"Canes forward Jussi Jokinen will not be sidelined as long as first feared, coach Paul Maurice said today.
Jokinen injured his left leg early in the third period of Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay, and general manager Jim Rutherford said Wednesday Jokinen would be out at least three to four weeks.
But Maurice said Jokinen, the team's second-leading scorer, had two MRI exams and the results Wednesday night revealed he was not seriously injured. Maurice said Jokinen's status was closer to "day to day" than "week to week" and that Jokinen might be able to skate some on his own as soon as Friday.
"It was really good news," Maurice said. "He's feeling a lot better today. We caught a break there because when you look at it on video, boy, it looks like it's a season-ender. We dodged a bullet there."
Jokinen fell backward over Tampa Bay's Ryan Shannon, pinning his leg under Shannon's body as he fall.
"He wasn't just dealing with one thing. He was sore in a couple of spots," Maurice said of Jokinen. "Either one of them if it was very significant could have been long-term.
"He came in this morning and there wasn't nearly the swelling they expected. He was in great spirits."

Well, Bowman proving himself worthy of top minutes would be great too, but I meant Dalpe... I'm assuming he won't be down in Charlotte long and will take Boychuk or Bowman's spot on the roster (and hopefully a 2nd or 3rd line slot) when he gets done with this conditioning stint.

I thought PK's press conference was pretty good: http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=598922

Excited to have the local investors. I hope his optimism about being able to generate an addition $5-10 million in revenue and get a better TV deal is realistic.

I'd love to see Anthony Stewart get some ice time and some talented people around him to see what he can do. Put him up with Skinner and Ruutu and he's already got a goal!
