Not sure I agree with this graphic, the tea party wasn't happy about the bank bailouts, but they were all about letting corporations control healthcare.[Edited on October 12, 2011 at 10:15 AM. Reason : .]

Fact is the majority of redistribution of wealth is going to the corporations and banks and the wealthy. The money is coming from the middle class and they are the ones who are failing to recognize this. Forget about complaining about welfare moms etc and look where the money is really going. 16 Trillion dollars to BIG BUISINESS. Wake up this isn't just liberals doing this, so called conservative Republicans are just as guilty. http://www.forbes.com/sites/traceygreenstein/2011/09/20/the-feds-16-trillion-bailouts-under-reported/The Occupy Movement has good intentions at its core. It's unfortunate that a bunch of slack-ass hippies have showed up to the protests and are getting most of the media coverage. Fox News has had a hay-day without thos little bastards

moron is right. :-/except moron secretly wants more he doesn't want to make his life more independent and require himself to do more work, and have the pleasure of the rewards of such work he would rather let society be the driving force behind what path his life takes

The tea party activists repeatedly said they wanted the government out of their healthcare and that it should be handled by the free market (in other words, private companies). I don't know where the rest of your rant came from, as I said nothing about what healthcare reform actually did or should've done.

Obamacare sans public option was really just a giant gift wrapped box of money to the insurance companies.Hopefully the public option can get tacked on at some point.

Isn't it funny how these "rich people" that are for higher taxes are never willing to, you know, actually help the people around them? Someone has to hold a gun to their head.

^ Ok, i'm done reading about Occupy Wall Street now
10/12/2011 12:57:49 PM
^^yep. Deep down they want to feel as if they are helping people while keeping their own money. Of course they will never admit that, but their actions speak volumes.

Plus, if she's living off of inheritance, higher tax rates won't affect her anyway. The feds only tax income, not wealth.
10/12/2011 1:07:45 PM
depending on the state, she would have already paid a hefty amt of taxes on her inheritance... although there are ways around that. God, that sign is still pissing me off. GET OFF THE STREET U RICH BEEYACH.

I think a lot of this anger is mis-placed and there is a fundamental problem with the American dream. It is supposed to be the land of "have" and opportunity, however, not everyone can acquire everything. And who fucking cares about 'having' anyways (I mean material posessions), but American society has taught us that if you don't have certain material posessions then you're a loser and worthless and obviously don't work hard enough. I'm trying desperately to get out from under that mentality. Its extremely difficult but I'm about to cut myself off completely (once my lease runs out and I no longer have a roommate, I don't wanna burden her with the fact that I don't want TV, kitchen appliances, a couch...) I think I'm gonna be pretty happy. No TV/cable, new clothes, eating out, etc. I've spent the last year downsizing (7, yes 7 carloads of stuff donated and 3 carloads of stuff to a yardsale where i sold everything for $0.50-1.00) and figuring the few things I still want to be a slave to (my Kindle because I love to read, and I'll prob invest in a decent laptop after this one dies, the internet afterall is still free amirite?).Not really sure what I'm trying to say, but that sign from the girl who got her inheritance at 21 and confessed to being the 1% really bugged me. I've felt guilty about being upper-middle class or whatever for my whole life and I finally figured out why. I LIKED having the newest, best everything from clothes to technology. I WANTED it and GOT it, either by working and buying it or my parents buying it for me. Then I felt guilty about how I spent my money. Its something I've struggled with all my life. The girl with the sign wants everyone to 'have enough'. What does that really mean? Healthcare? I'd say thats a start. If you're sick or have chronic pain, thats not really being free now is it? But it will take a significant change in attitude and lifestyle from the 1% of haves in this country - essentially what I'm trying to do but its taken the better part of a year to train myself. Sorry for the incoherent rambling, I'm a little doped up on meds since I've been sick for the past three days.
10/12/2011 2:00:17 PM
I really don't think the majority of people who are upset are out there because they think everyone should have an iPad. It's more likely they think Americans should have access to affordable and reliable healthcare, an infrastructure that isn't falling apart, access to a sound education, etc.At least that's why I hope they're out there

^ hate to be the one to burst your bubble1. Eliminate Corporate Personhood 2. Make Elections Transparent and Verifiable 3. Enact Term Limits for Congress 4. End the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan 5. Create Jobs Through Public Works 6. Pass Universal Health Care 7. Prosecute Leaders Who Violate Constitution 8. Defend Liberty, Repeal Unjust Laws, and Decriminalize Victimless Crimes 9. Protect the Environment 10. End Capital Punishment They are explained in more detain at http://www.occupycommunity.org

but do you think its possible to have both? when most peoples efforts are on having whatever they want and getting cushy jobs to pay for luxuries? but don't wanna pay additional taxes to help those less fortunate? i'm certain i didn't make a legible point in my last post, and for that, please forgive me.
