This might be why they're doing the foreword flashing. I don't recall if they actually showed Carl when Rick was talking to him. Perhaps they're replacing his character with a little older actor since it's supposed to be several years in the future....though Michonne didn't look different at all.

Could be setting up for a time-jump midseason after the war is over.

That episode made little to no sense how ANY of that shit could have happened, esp. .in the timeframe of a day.

They're trapped inside, admit they're going to have to use most of their ammo to get out...get out, apparently lose NO ONE despite being surrounded by snipers, amass an army(the "fighters" numbers were thin in the compound but guess they could convert some workers) and they put together an elaborate plan to take down all 3 communities at once without knowing where anyone would be.

I mean why would they assume Maggie was leaving Hilltop and heading back at that exact moment? To have time to cut down a tree and then somehow have the cars positioned to drive up right behind them to box them in and assume that Maggie and Co wouldn't just shoot them up on approach? That whole episode was complete trash.

Junkyard people are just there as hired muscle looking for supplies, so they realized Rick's plan had gone to shit and they vacated the war(for now). The show had already basically abandoned the source material for the most part, so having Carl die wasn't that surprising. I just really hope they have something more meaningful queued up at the beginning of next season to have him go out in a little better way than just sitting in a sewer.

Khorl death felt way too dragged out, and hate that they were so heavy handed with how they want this to change Rick.

Still hate they killed off the character, mainly missing on the great relationship between he and Negan, but have no problem with Riggs being off the show.

Tired of the roller coaster that is Morgan, can we finally get off the ride and let him head to FWTD?

That little kid is strong for his age, was able to ram a pole with a rounded end right through that guy's throat.

Better episode overall.

Still think the Garbage Pail Kids were totally unnecessary.
Still think the entire women's group is totally unnecessary.

Really wish this show would focus on trimming fat and focus on interesting stories/characters/relationships and less on adding in "resources" just to try to explain things or prolong the story.

Conversation at the end between Rick and Negan was very enjoyable.

The contract disputes with Maggie really need to get resolved, one of the better characters and she hardly gets any screen time.

Why would the junkyard people NOT expect the Saviors to come for them? They know what they are like and what they would likely do. The women at Oceanside knew what would happen when they fought back so they did the smart thing and booked it before the Saviors could catch up to them. You'd think the junk people would at least set some traps or try to find Rick or anything other than just hanging out in a group while their leader paints a picture as if nothing ever happened.

so, some saviors have disappeared, and that one asshole got snatched by someone he recognized

im just gonna say all this probably has nothing to do with the whisperers, its some rogue faction of Saviors/or other small group of minor bad guys, but then somehow, dealing with it is going to cause them to stumble onto the Whisperers or vice versa

and they mentioned the key to the future lady wants Maggie to travel with her, I wonder if that is her out for this season

I thought it was actually a clever setup/segwey to the Whispers to have people disappearing and such, but the end definitely threw a curveball on that.

A rebel group makes the most sense, but it wouldn't shock me if it was someone in the community that is just completely anti-Saviors.

You have Saviors that are rumored to have run away.
You have Savior supplies that go missing that were meant to be used in a trade for food that they desperately need.
You have a group working on the bridge that is made up of "mainly Saviors" get attacked.

Most of the bodies dropping have been Saviors and it's clear a few key figures in the group are anti-Savior. Hell it wouldn't surprise me if the final scene was a curveball and Daryl just tracked home dude to exact his revenge and that the Whisperers are actually on the horizon.
