after some discussions with family who would know because of their jobs the probability of Ciny vs State in the Belk bowl is very very very high.

Only way I see us dropping to Belk is if we play shitty or gasp lose to BC.

I figure Duke is a lock for Charlotte. Clemson/SCar decides most of the lineup.

Clemson wins over SCar:

Orange Bowl - FSU
BCS at-large - Clemson
Peach - NCSU
Russell Athletic - GT
Sun - VTech (have to beat UVA)
Belk - Duke
Music City - Wake (have to beat Vandy)

Clemson loses to SCar:

Orange Bowl - FSU
Peach - Clemson
Russell Athletic - NCSU
Sun Bowl - GT
Belk - Duke
Music City - VTech (have to beat UVA)
Independence/Military - Wake (have to beat Vandy)

[Edited on November 22, 2012 at 10:28 PM. Reason : format]

[Edited on November 22, 2012 at 10:32 PM. Reason : I don't think Wake beats Vandy and UVA may beat VTech....could only be 5 ACC bowl teams lol]

UF may be the worst Top 5 team this late in the season in decades. Their last three games have been pitiful. 14-7 against a terrible Missouri team, 27-20 to UL-L on a fluke of a play and 23-0 against Jacksonville State.

They will lose against FSU and it won't be that close IMO. We wouldn't win, obviously, but they wouldn't blow us out.

[Edited on November 23, 2012 at 3:52 PM. Reason : scary part is, in theory, they could still play for the national title]

I don't really get the logic of wanting to play in a lesser bowl against a lesser team just to get a meaningless win.

It isn't like a win over some shit Big Least team saves the season. Aside from just the joy of seeing us win(which is fairly marginal vs. a bad team after a season that looked hopeful) there is nothing really gained... and if we lose that is just a really disappointing way to end a hopeful season losing to a weak ass team.

I'd rather get stomped by an SEC team, at least people around the country will give 1 shit more about the game than the no shits they give about us playing against Cinci/Lville in a crappier bowl. If we lose people will just say "see SEC is good." And if we somehow win it is a much bigger deal even though the chances are slim. Would almost save the season(almost).

Any scenario that puts us in the Peach Bowl is a gift that makes the season seem like much less a disaster. If I didn't know anything about our season or our end of the year record/how we'd play at times and was told at the start of the season you'll play in the Peach Bowl I'd have taken that.

Didn't even look who posted.

I just know I've talked to others with the same sentiment, who'd rather go to a lesser bowl and get a win than get blown out. I'm bored, felt like posting something obvious and well thought out.

I'm hoping FSU and Clemson will go ahead and self-impose so that we can go to the orange bowl and shutout oregon.

I agree with you The E Man. I think we match up really well with Oregon. Maybe adidas could make up some sick chrome jerseys for us to wear.

Their starting QB was out hurt those games buddy

I agree UF still isnt good but just on a talent level basis we'd lose by 3 tds

I like the risk vs reward of playing an SEC team. You would likely know which State team showed up by the end of the first quarter, as opposed to losing in agony at the second against, uh university of emaciated plankton. Cuz that's a thing. You could manage your drinking a little better in the former case. Because "managing your drinking" is a thing.

^^ Driskel DEFINITELY played against Missouri. And he played three quarters versus UL-L.

I'm not disputing your point with the other teams but UF really isn't a Top 5 caliber team. I'm not the first one to say that either this year.

Florida hasn't faced a defense with a secondary like ours all year. Amerson could be starting for a team like the Eagles right now. Tomorrow we will see that the ACC is actually just really amazing on offense when FSU Clemson and GT own their asses. I guarantee AT LEAST 2/3 for the superior ACC .

I was thinking today that it's pretty sad that the shitty-assed Peach Bowl is the #2 bowl for the ACC. Then I realized there's a reason for that

In terms of matchups and not locations, playing 7-5 USC in the Hyundai Sun Bowl would be great!

Hmm. So for this to happen, Orange Bowl gets FSU, Peach gets Clemson. After that, does the selection proceed by overall record or ACC record?

If by overall record, Russell Athletic, Sun, and Belk would all be taking 6-6 teams (6-7 in GT's case) over 7-5 NCSU. We might not travel better than VT but we damn sure travel better than GT or Duke. I suppose Belk could be locked down on Duke since we've played in that bowl recently, and Sun may be zeroed in on the Hokies since they travel well and are a "name" team, but I don't know why Russell Athletic would pick GaTech over State (or VT for that matter).

If by ACC record, then GT is ahead of us and Music City makes sense.

If GaTech shocks FSU to win the Championship, then FSU would be a natural for Russell and we also get Music City.

^He was predicting Orlando to take VT (which makes sense).
If that happens, GT automatically goes to the Sun Bowl (cant fall further). That leaves us and Duke for Charlotte. The Duke bowl trip is a more interesting story, but I think we would still bring more fans, even in a "down year". Other than driving distance, I might prefer Nashville though; havent been before, and would rather play an average SEC team (Vandy?) than yet another Big East team.
