Always feels good to silence a crowd. FSU fans near us were horrible. They were booing Danny after got railroaded were just assholes. I thought Danny's mom was going to kill one guy. Even with the lack of control, Rodon settled down and took care of business after we took the lead. Wilkins came in and did great. Looking forward to tomorrow's game.

This site shows what a team's remaining record needs to be to finish in key RPI positions given that all other teams keep their current win pct.

Of course the NCAA doesn't solely take RPI into account for national seeds, but in addition to RPI, we have a good resume. Taking 1 more game from FSU and winning the series would mean we only lost 2 ACC series with both being 2-1 and on the road (UNC and Maryland).

So Avent lets Rodon throw a lot of pitches. I don't follow college baseball that much, but do coaches let them go a little longer in college?? I guess they normally get a little more rest, so maybe that's why.

Rodon has thrown a lot of pitches this season and in most cases he isn't helped by some control/pitch location issues, but always seems in control of the game and always gives the team a chance. Last night was the first time I didn't feel that Rodon was in control during the early innings, but that's what 9 walks will do. After the 2nd/3rd innings, he settled down and was in control like normal. I'm not sure if Avent would have kept him in as long as Holliday did, but we needed to protect our bullpen for the rest of the series.

While unlikely, isn't it possible that we wouldn't even have to win the UNC game to play in the championship? Since we play UNC as the last game and would know if we needed to win it, it would seem advantageous to hold Rodon until the UNC game, on the off chance we don't have to win it so he can play in the Championship game.
