Bailout isn't really the right term. More along the lines of questionable behavior justified with an "it's only business".

The difference marriage is between a man and a woman.
The difference is a penis and a vagina.
He asked the question and go a straight answer. Obama would have given a wishy-washy answer where you think he might support you.
Dont get mad that the guy was straight (no pun) with you.

As far as the gay marriage thing goes. To me, gays just want the same legal privileges as straights. Thats fine and the problem is the way the legal system is set up. It needs to be modified so anyone can be named to fill the role of spouse.

Students say they are forced to work on new iPhone 5

By Li Qian | 2012-9-6 | NEWSPAPER EDITION
The story appears on Page A3
Sep 6, 2012

THOUSANDS of students in an east China city are being forced to work at a Foxconn plant after classes were suspended at the beginning of the new semester, it has been revealed.

Students from Huai'an in Jiangsu Province were driven to a factory in the city run by Taiwan's Foxconn Technology Company after the plant couldn't find sufficient workers for the production of Apple's much-anticipated iPhone 5, they said in online posts.

Those fences aren't for keeping slaves in, they are to keep other people from getting in because they want to work so bad!!

Really? I'm not a fan of him, but he definitely comes across to me as a pretty moderate politician. I think there are plenty of lower common demonator politicians, and a relatively decent guy (for a politician). Those pics have no context.

The context is 4 people are dead and his first reaction was "how can i use this to make my opponent look bad". Those pictures are worth a thousand words. He looks wholly pleased with his exploitation of a human tragedy.

That's because republicans in general don't really care about the country or the people, they care about their party and their people. So, why wouldn't he try to blame this on Obama?

" Romney campaign invents a controversy

CNN has obtained a set of talking points the Romney campaign is distributing to prominent Republicans, instructing them on how to respond to the fallout over his claim that the Obama administration “sympathized” with the attackers. The talking points envision a series of questions that might be asked by reporters, and suggest answers. This one jumps out:

Questions & Answers:
Don’t you think it was appropriate for the embassy to condemn the controversial movie in question? Are you standing up for movies like this?
— Governor Romney rejects the reported message of the movie. There is no room for religious hatred or intolerance.

Another day, another opportunity for Mitt Romney to put his silver foot in his mouth.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/romney-defines-middle-income-as-250k-and-below/2012/09/14/14b17e52-fe73-11e1-98c6-ec0a0a93f8eb_story.html

Quote :
"“Is $100,000 middle income?” Stephanopoulos asked.

“No, middle income is $200,000 to $250,000 and less,” Romney responded."

So Romney says he'll reduce taxes for middle income Americans, someone asks him what middle income Americans means, he says families making under $250K per year.

Then people try to take a jab at him for thinking middle income American families make $250K per year? Silly. For issues relating to raising tax rates Obama also considers $250K to be the line. Not sure what they were going for there.

I'd be perfectly willing to say that Mittens just worded that awkwardly - that he meant household income instead of individual income. You know...because he's so goddamn awkward.

I don't agree with Obama, Romney, or the IRS tax charts though.... I think that $200-$250k/year is too high to be considered a middle-class income.

In the majority of cases, sure. If you're the sole breadwinner in a family of 5 living in California, you'll be living a middle class lifestyle.

One of the many problems of our federal system is that it uses the "one size fits all" approach. Income-based taxes, federal minimum wage laws, etc - all of these things essentially ignore the cost of living in different areas of the country.

^agreed. I tried to make this point in a thread a while back.

"Middle" is different based on the circumstances. If you have no dependents, living in Nebraska and making $100K then you're rich as fuck. If you're a the only income for a family of 4 in NYC, and not incurring debt, then your room for extravagance is much less than the former.

Some pretty choice quotes in here,

Quote :
""My dad, as you probably, know was the governor of Michigan and was the head of a car company. But he was born in Mexico ... and, uh, had he been born of, uh, Mexican parents, I'd have a better shot at winning this," Romney said. "But he was unfortunately born to Americans living in Mexico. ... I mean I say that jokingly, but it would be helpful to be Latino.""

Quote :
""There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney says in one clip. "All right -- there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing.""

i lean libertarian, but not hardcore. i actually believe there are government assistance programs that have merit.

but there are too many people in denial, or otherwise complacent, with how abused a lot of these programs are...i'm staunchly against any more entitlement/assistance programs until we fix what we already have.

and i definitely don't believe that housing, food, and medical care are a birthright in the united states. such an absurd notion.

If you include all taxes a person pays, or atleast a majority of what we pay, then those 47% of people that pay no federal income tax are still getting taxed at nearly the same rate as those that pay income tax:

http://ctj.org/ctjreports/2012/04/who_pays_taxes_in_america.php

So if we forced those 47% to pay income tax then suddenly we would turn our somewhat progressive (or nearly flat) overall tax system into a regressive system.

and there just isn't a good argument for a regressive tax system.

Romney's thought's on Chinese labor from the leaked fundraiser:

Quote :
""95% of life is set up for you if you were born in this country. And, I remember going to ah, uh, sorry just to bore you with stories.
When I was back in my private equity days, we went to China to buy a factory there. It employed about 20,000 people. And they were almost all young women between the ages of about 18 and 22 or 23. They were saving for potentially becoming married.
And they work in these huge factories, they made various uh, small appliances. And uh, as we were walking through this facility, seeing them work, the number of hours they
worked per day, the pittance they earned, living in dormitories with uh, with little bathrooms at the end of maybe 10, 10 room, rooms. And the rooms they have 12 girls per room.
Three bunk beds on top of each other. You've seen, you've seen them? (Oh...yeah, yeah!) And, and, and around this factory was a fence, a huge fence with barbed wire and
guard towers. And, and, we said gosh! I can't believe that you, you know, keep these girls in! They said, no, no, no. This is to keep other people from coming in.
Because people want so badly to come work in this factory that we have to keep them out. Or they will just come in here and start working and, and try and get compensated. So we, this is to keep people out. And they said, actually Chinese New Year as the girls go home, sometimes they decide they've saved enough money and they don't come back to the factory.
And he said, so, on the weekend after Chinese New Year there will be a line of people hundreds long, outside the factory, hoping that some girls haven't come back. And they can come to the factory. And, and so as we were experiencing this for the first time, going to see a factory like this in China some years ago.
The Bain Partner I was with turned to me and said, you know, 95% of life is settled if you are born in America. This is uh, this is an amazing land and what we have is unique and fortunately it is so special we are sharing it with the world.""

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/8786049-yet-another-record-americans-collecting-disability

Why are their so many people on disability?

Is it a simple function of larger population? Is the workplace that much more dangerous these days?

Is it too easy to get on disability? Does disability simply cover too many things?

^Mittens said that a while back. Not sure why it's only making waves just now. Not the most relevant piece of criticism to level at him at this point.
