Sahin should be official to the Emirates today from what I'm reading.
Very strong midfield though I'd still like some cover at fullback and maybe a true holding midfielder like M'Vila, though that seems unlikely before getting rid of deadwood (Arshavin, Chamakh, Bendtner, etc).
They probably will have the best midfield in the prem (Arteta, Cazorla, Sahin, Wilshere, Diaby, hell you can include Ox) so hopefully someone can learn to finish. 8/20/2012 8:53:01 AM |

United? Really? Consensus is they are the weakest in the midfield of the top four, no? Best forwards with City though.
Chelsea? Eh maybe but Lampard will fall off some more. City, yeah, could see that. 8/20/2012 1:24:24 PM |

I think Arsenal have, without a doubt, the best playmaking and technical players in midfield, but they are definitely a bit soft, especially losing Song. Maybe Vermalean could step in and play defensive mid?
City has a world class player for every occasion, the entire package.
Chelsea has a very good midfield, but outside of about two players they're all unproven or aging rapidly.
Manchester United is good, but we all know their biggest strength is their chemistry and industry. Very good wing players, but not so much in the center. As far as individual players go, they've had much better in the past.
Spurs have a very good midfield, all they need is a capable Modric replacement. Their depth is second only to City probably. Lennon is going to have a great year getting time on the left side of midfield.
^ United definitely get a huge edge with forwards now that Aguero is going to be out at least half the season.

Everton played great, really organized. Fellaini unplayable for our defence (why the hell was Carrick marking him all game?).
10 outfield players, 4 being played out of position, 1 making his debut...no cohesion out there.

RvP did what he could with limited opportunities. Once Everton played 8 or 9 back, they denied any chance for Man U to get a decent look. He did have a nice lay-off pass to Kagawa in the box that Shinji couldn't get enough of a touch on.
I think SAF still has some work creating a formation and playing style that'll accommodate all his players. It makes me cringe seeing Valencia being wasted at RB. 8/20/2012 5:55:58 PM |

City spent £38M on Aguero and he didn't start the first game of last season.
Of course, he came on as a sub and promptly scored two goals and had an assist, but still, didn't start the first week. 8/20/2012 10:51:26 PM |

As nice as it would be to see Leandro Damiao at Spurs, I can't see them breaking their transfer record to bring him in. It looks like they'd have to use all of their Modric money to get him, unless he was just dead set on leaving Internacional. They definitely could use another striker though. I don't think Ade, Defoe, and Kane are enough. 8/22/2012 12:36:52 PM |

I heard £5.5M, but regardless, shouldn't the captain be somebody indispensable or at least close to it. My qualm is not so much with him selling Dawson as it is with making Dawson the captain. 8/22/2012 1:14:41 PM |
