Dear god. TOB WANTED HIM TO LEAVE. HE FORCED HIS HAND BY TELLING HIM HE WASN'T EVEN ALLOWED TO COMPETE FOR HIS OWN JOB.

are all you guys really this dumb? TOB chose glennon over Russell and it backfired big time because glennon wasn't ready last year and frankly he's not ready so far this year either.

What are you saying that Russell shouldn't take the contract he was offered? He should just sit the bench while a guy who can't play QB better than Russell farts gets to play?

What is this tee ball where we don't keep score? What is the matter with you pansies? Why are you so butt hurt that someone didn't want to sit the bench as the clear #1 QB on the roster??

jesus christ, it's done, let it go. he wouldn't have been here this year either way, and if things had gone differently, glennon might not have been either.

hey face, shut up

No I'm just stating the facts of what happened.

And like we all concluded recently, it probably cost us the Acc title. All we had to do was win two of the following games: wake, bc, Gt, or fsu.

Then we would have been in the championship against a mediocre Virginia tech team.

It woulda been cool, but then again losing to BC and Wake wasn't that bad since we made the decision to tank a possible title so we could run the slate this year instead. 6 more to go. Onward and upward!

If we win the title this year, TOB may have made the right decision.

If not we will never know, but we can certainly deduce that it was probably the wrong one.

no matter what you think of the glennon/russ decision tob still screwed up

does anyone really think a freshman RW isnt better than the Evans/Burke/Beck turd sandwich we got instead? he plays that year and we dont have to worry what he does after he plays for the asheville tourists

I love RW, but Luck is going to run away with the ROY. The defenses in the NFC West are simply too tough to expect RW to put up stats that will come close to what Luck will have. If RW was playing for the Colts, then I'd feel differently.

"If anyone was indecisive it was TOB."

Bullshit. TOB told RW that if he wanted to compete, he had to come to spring practice. RW said he didn't know when he'd be there. And you are telling me that TOB was the indecisive one? Absolute bullshit.

Quote :
"If anything Smath don't you think you should be mad at our coach for the way he callously dismissed our starting QB"

Yeah, he "dismissed RW"... That's why RW is the one who asked to leave. Hmmm...

Quote :
"We should admire Russells support for the wolfpack despite his horrible mistreatment here"

Yeah, horrible mistreatment: SHOW THE FUCK UP TO PRACTICE. Oh man, it's almost literal slavery, aint it!

Quote :
" Then all of a sudden if he misses, HE'S NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO COMPETE FOR A STARTING JOB???"

Yeah, that's how every team in every fucking league works: you don't come to practice, you don't start. Damn, that's so mean!!!

Quote :
"TOB WANTED HIM TO LEAVE. HE FORCED HIS HAND BY TELLING HIM HE WASN'T EVEN ALLOWED TO COMPETE FOR HIS OWN JOB. "

Yeah, he "forced his hand" by sticking by his motherfucking word: you don't come to practice, you don't start. Yeah. OK...

Quote :
"What is this tee ball where we don't keep score? What is the matter with you pansies"

No, this is the same rule that exists for EVERY GOD DAMNED TEAM IN THE WORLD. You don't come to practice, you don't fucking play.

Quote :
"No I'm just stating the facts of what happened. "

Sure, if by "facts" you mean "outright lies."

Quote :
"And like we all concluded recently, it probably cost us the Acc title."

If by "we all" you mean "all of face's multiple personalities," then sure. Don't know why you think RW is an automatic lock to win shit when he couldn't beat MARYLAND in 2010. But yeah, because his name is RW, he's an automatic lock to win every game he plays in. That's why Wisconsin was undefeated. Oh, wait.

TOB didn't allow one of the best QBs in our embattled history of a program the opportunity to compete for the job. That's all RW wanted. The fucking chance to compete.

That being said, the issue with dredging all this shit up is that I have to relive it, and all the disgusting emotions and self-loathing that go with it.

I'm defending the decision because it was the right decision. RW was playing the program for his own purposes, and TOB saw that. I don't blame him for putting his foot down and treating all of his players the same way and having the same basic ground rules for everyone. RW showed his ass with the "i wanted an equal opportunity" comment, because he wasn't willing to do the same thing that others were doing. He didn't want an "equal opportunity"; he wanted to tell TOB what to do. The coach saw that and told him exactly where his place was: on the bench.

Were you in thethe military, by chance? I kinda get what you're saying, and some of these faggots arguing that we would've won this or that game with RW are definitely mere dabblers in actuality. However, it just sounds to me like you're supporting the pride of a mediocre coach over the possibility of game-changing player. And it's that possibility that will haunt this shit situation forever.

it's not a matter of supporting the pride of a coach. it's a matter of understanding who is in charge. RW wasn't in charge, TOB was, and TOB made it clear what was expected. RW then made his decision, but he tried to make TOB look like the bad guy, when TOB had some pretty simple and realistic expectations. Letting the players run the show gives you shit like what happened over at UNC and gets you put on probation. If that means we lose out on a good player here and there, that's fine to me. I think a program with good order and discipline is leaps and bounds better than the playhouse Chuckles gave us.

The bottom line is that Wilson was a really good QB.

Glennon at the end of the season was a pretty good QB. But for the first half of the year he was pretty terrible.

It's fair to assume RW would have played at the level he played at the prior three years and he would have put us in position to play for the ACC title in Charlotte. It would have been fun.

Maybe 30 years from now we'll make an ACC title game and we can put this horror story that is currently haunting our program to bed.

oh, so as long as he was gettin paid, then that's fine. Hey, I hear the O-Line all has jobs at the waffle house this year. no need for them to come to practice, right? they gettin paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaid, son! great reason for the rules not to apply to him.

Quote :

maybe, maybe not. he could also have thrown a shit ton of pics. you don't know either way, so you'll just assume he was going to be a golden god and that he would have kicked complete and total ass, despite the fact that when he was surrounded by a much better O-line at Wisconsin, his numbers were remarkably similar to Glennon's. hmmmmmm

Yeah you have no idea what you are talking about right now. Russell Wilson was one of the best QB's in the history of humans last year. Glennon on the other hand couldn't score against Wake*, BC, or UNC. (*until the game was out of hand)

Seriously guys. Let's all agree to let reality dictate our conversations going forward.

Maybe you missed this.
Quote :
"
"In March, we posted an article on our website about the Lewin Career Forecast numbers of 2012 quarterback prospects, and we dubbed Russell Wilson “The Asterisk.” Wilson’s college stats blew LCF away: 48 college games started, a 60.7 percent completion rate, and most importantly, an absurd 64.1 jump in passer rating between his junior and senior seasons. Wilson would have the best LCF forecast of all-time if he were drafted in the first three rounds. But at that point, nobody thought he was going in the first three rounds. Thus, “The Asterisk.”
Well, guess what? The Asterisk was drafted in the third round by the Seattle Seahawks and, if you believe Pete Carroll, will even get a shot to compete for the Seahawks’ starting job in training camp. So officially, it is now Russell Wilson, not Robert Griffin, who has the highest LCF forecast ever. Nevertheless, he is still The Asterisk, because there are a couple of elements here that the Lewin Career Forecast does not account for. First, that big leap in passer rating was less the product of Wilson’s own improvement and more the product of his transfer from North Carolina State to Wisconsin, where defenses were focused on stopping Montee Ball instead of Wilson. Second, we simply have no way to control for Wilson’s height. Teams don’t draft short quarterbacks unless they are really, really confident in their abilities. Since 1991, Wilson is the only quarterback under six feet tall to be drafted in the first three rounds. Even if we raise that limit to six-foot even, only three quarterbacks have been drafted in the first three rounds: Wilson, Michael Vick, and Drew Brees.

Brees, of course, is the quarterback Wilson is often compared to. The Saints offense built around Drew Brees provides a fine template for designing an offense that takes advantage of Wilson’s mobility and perfect throw-and-go timing while minimizing the issue of his height.1 Wilson’s game must focus on manipulation of the pocket and the secondary with the help of movement: play action, short drops, bootlegs, partial rolls, and misdirection. Wilson also excels at delivering the football to a spot where only the receiver has a chance to make a play on it. And if the play breaks down, he can run; he gained 483 yards on just 56 non-sack carries in 2011, and had career +41.3 Adj. POE as a runner.

The Lewin Career Forecast is just a guideline, not a gospel. Nobody would suggest that Russell Wilson is a better quarterback prospect than Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin. But Wilson can win in the NFL if he has an offensive coordinator who knows how to take advantage of his skills.""
