Anything bad about it besides the server issues?
3/7/2013 7:58:54 PM
the city size is smaller than the smallest city in SC4... no subways. little to no transportation options. oh, and you still can't fucking play it
3/7/2013 8:01:41 PM
How about, instead of a 20 minute timer that does nothing but wait 20 minutes to tell you that the server is unavailable, they show you your position in the queue
3/7/2013 8:12:38 PM
that makes too much sense... its EA with their shitty origin crap. It was hard to accept origin with BF3 crap, but this takes it to a whole other level of stupidity that surpasses the D3 launch fail...I hope this game gets pirated... like a lot.
3/7/2013 8:17:07 PM
sooooo close, i made it all the way to claiming my citysoo close(23 hours play time, 0 hours actual play time)
3/7/2013 8:28:02 PM
I installed it tonight and went through the tutorial fine. Joined one of the Europe servers and started a region and a city. I seem to run out of money really fast when trying to complete the objectives. Then they got pissed when I raised taxes.
3/7/2013 8:56:34 PM
11% taxes are about the citizens threshold for not getting mad
3/7/2013 9:02:21 PM
also, they fucking hate circular roads
3/7/2013 9:14:19 PM
i think my city is fucked. i cant load it
3/7/2013 10:01:59 PM
Amazon stopped selling it, it's gotten so bad
3/7/2013 10:04:28 PM
I'm gonna just wait for SimCity: GOTY EditionI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
3/7/2013 10:07:21 PM
jazon, your city is near the other group, but its on the same loop as your old one. lol
3/7/2013 10:08:42 PM
I know, I'm retardedSadly, though, I can't even collect trash from my own alternate city [Edited on March 7, 2013 at 10:42 PM. Reason : ]
3/7/2013 10:33:25 PM
how far do you space apart the roads in this one, doing the zoning just at the road is weird to me. i use to space roads by exactly how far water would go.
3/7/2013 10:58:53 PM
there should be a secondary colored sliver that shows you how far the zoning extends
3/7/2013 11:03:34 PM
I took to building out a large skeleton road system and just zoning over large areas of the map. Then as those fill up, I would go in and basically build a road right through someone's house and build outwards in that fashion. Start by building large areas with lots of gaps in the middle of them, then draw roads to make them smaller. That way you can also plop all the buildings like parks and schools you want to because there's only zoned buildings next to the roads. It's not how things would work in real life, but it seems to be pretty easy and effective in the game.tl;dr - eminent domain, bitches
3/7/2013 11:08:25 PM
^ thisbut I wind up spending all my money on the GD roads before anyone even moves in lol
3/7/2013 11:09:13 PM
BTW, are you guys playing right now?
3/7/2013 11:11:16 PM
so i don't need any other roads in that secondary line they show me? so my road spacing is double that distance?[Edited on March 7, 2013 at 11:17 PM. Reason : .]
3/7/2013 11:17:14 PM
I don't even use the guide honestly. It's pretty much worthless.
3/7/2013 11:22:27 PM
FUCK IT.I bought it. How big is this download for the shit? I was flyin through the settings and didn't pay attentionI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
3/7/2013 11:35:44 PM
Add me name mastermoocher07, is everyone still on NA East 2?
3/7/2013 11:49:48 PM
guides are pretty helpful, depending on the road density, they pretty much apply to the max building size on either sideie, they show how to maximize future skyscrapers without wasting space
3/7/2013 11:51:27 PM
Yeah, I think the guides are pretty clutch. The only problem with them is some ploppable buildings are larger than the smallest grid size. I've started going one grid space in one direction but two spaces in the other direction to leave room for those buildings. The strategy above sounds pretty good, though.
3/7/2013 11:53:05 PM
So the guide scales to the density of the road you're laying down? That seems like it would be a huge problem when you try to increase density later on. Although my strategy does require a LOT of planning on exactly where your things will go later on and that eventually everything will be high density. Destroying a portion of the city to make room for something new seems like a bad idea because I can easily notice the lost revenue from pulling even one medium density building. The same thing happens if a lot of already existing buildings go into construction at the same time.
3/7/2013 11:59:01 PM
i might have to abandon my city and start a new one... i cant ever load it :-\
3/7/2013 11:59:06 PM
I've had to do it twice already with 3 cities total.
3/8/2013 12:01:23 AM
I still can't buy utilities or basically participate in a region in any way - this is pretty much bullshit since that's a required feature to be worth a damn
3/8/2013 12:10:43 AM
Oh wow, I just joined a server and was pleasantly surprised to find that my city is still available on that ONE server. Fucking dumbass way of doing things but at least it's not totally lost.
3/8/2013 12:20:27 AM
how do you change zone value? all i can do is zone on one square next to the road.
3/8/2013 12:24:16 AM
you "change zone value" by making the residents/commercial/industrial in that area want to upgrade
3/8/2013 12:26:38 AM
3/8/2013 12:28:28 AM
pro-tip: selling processors on the global market is easy money
3/8/2013 12:58:16 AM
Wow, recycling centers are crucial. Just make sure you have your trade depot set up and you're getting all 3 of plastics, alloys, and metals.
3/8/2013 3:29:37 AM
so if you sell too much of a commodity does the global value for it decrease?
3/8/2013 7:57:12 AM
Played for like an hour last night. It wouldn't connect for like 10 minutes but after that I didn't run into any problems.I'm Krallum and I approved this message.
3/8/2013 8:57:49 AM
^^^^,^^^ yes to bothI may have to abandon my city and see if someone else can load it. Then get you to re-abandon it so I can play it. Lol[Edited on March 8, 2013 at 9:00 AM. Reason : .]

I'm having a hell of a time getting medium wealth tourists. I built all these cheap shitty casinos and they are making insane amounts of money, but then I built this giant fancy casino and it's losing money at a ridiculous rate because no medium wealth tourists are coming to it.
3/8/2013 11:01:15 AM
I loved some Arco's back in SC2000. I still think, even though 3 & 4 had some big advances, that Simcity 2000 was the best version ever. I spent more time building cities and designing shit in the SCURK that it was one of the top games of my childhood.
3/8/2013 11:02:01 AM
Yeah Simcity 2kI'm Krallum and I approved this message.

3/8/2013 11:19:21 AM
y'all dummies need to quit this shit and go back to Tropico
3/8/2013 11:22:25 AM
My roommate had tropico and at the end of the game story it just ends and all your work is over. That would drive me insaneI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
3/8/2013 11:26:56 AM
^At least Tropico allows you to fucking SAVE and play it without a goddern internet connection.

the only reason i bought this was to hold me over until they make a sim city 2000 for windows 8
