http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2014/09/21/misery-index-week-4-michigan-florida-north-carolina-virginia-tech-clemson/16006061/

Quote :
"3. North Carolina: In a vacuum, the state's flagship university should not lose to a directional school very often. Then again, East Carolina is not your normal directional school, and North Carolina is not your standard underachieving state school with all of the resources and none of the know-how. Year after year, there's something extra mediocre about North Carolina. It's hard to quantify, though, until you look at the Tar Heels next to the product ECU is able to put on the field. And unfortunately for North Carolina fans, they have had to see that direct comparison made the last couple of years. It was bad enough for the Tar Heels to sit through last year's 55-31 beatdown by Pirates and be unable to offer much resistance. This year, though, was an even bigger embarrassment for North Carolina: 70-41 and an unimaginable 789 yards of offense given up to quarterback Shane Carden and company. ECU is really good, but that good? Meanwhile, this North Carolina team that started the season in the top 25 has proved itself to be a fraud. It trailed Liberty in the third quarter before rallying for a win, squeaked by San Diego State 31-27 and came out after a bye week and looked totally overwhelmed by ECU. Not a good team. Not a good program."

Holes continue to be in complete denial. "70 points looks bad to the outsiders but..."

I don't know anyway you can look at a team laying 70 points on you and think it's not that bad. You got your ass pounded little girl.

at this rate, gameday will be for the unc game. i expected everything to make sense but somehow we are worse than teams who lose to indiana even before we step on the field. who watches that game and decides we are worse than they previously thought? no one. all this tells me is that they don't actually watch games and just vote for teams they like or teams who played in one of the 5 games they watched that week.

[Edited on September 29, 2014 at 12:10 AM. Reason : i hope secretary rice is watching our games. ]

The sheer fact that UNC received 7 votes in the polls this week is concrete evidence that the polls are bullshit. If the Tar Heels were actually winning games, god, they'd probably be #3 by now.

^^pretty much.

Plus, two weeks ago and last week we were receiving a few votes in the coaches poll. Then we nearly upset the #1 team in the country and quit getting votes in that poll. Not that we deserve to be ranked...but wouldn't our showing vs FSU justify those votes? Meaning, there'd be no reason that same guy(s) wouldn't vote us as a top 25 team again. So yeah....those polls are pretty dumb.

"NC State almost upset top-ranked Florida State on Saturday. Two days later, it was Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher who was upset after hearing that Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren accused Florida State of faking injuries.

like i said in the other thread. New rule should be that if you go down injured and stop play, you should have to miss the rest of the posession/drive. If you're hurt THAT badly that you can't get up and get off the field, then theres no way you should be able to come back in on the same drive.

Still not sure how Carolina has avoided this list, oh, it's because they have votes in the poll :

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/page/bottom10140923/the-bad-get-worse-bottom-10

SMU could be the worst team in the entire world this year, how can a team only score one touchdown all year thus far. If I was a player & not on scholarship I'd quit the team. They get to play ECU this weekend, how many points will ECU put up this time?

Quote :
"They call the TCU-SMU rivalry "The Battle of the Iron Skillet." As my 9-year old daughter can tell you after 300 viewings of "Tangled," an iron skillet can be quite the weapon. As we learned Saturday, you can even use it to knock out a horse, or more accurately, a Mustang. The coach-less boys in blue and red once again went TD-less, so their lone six-pointer of the season remains a Week 2 Hail Mary at North Texas that closed out a 43-6 loss. SMU ranks last in all of the FBS in points scored (three per game) and points surrendered (56). This weekend brings a visit to East Carolina, which typically scores 35 points before the pregame meal is over. You know, come to think of it, my father-in-law could also tell you about the skillet thing. And he's never seen "Tangled.""

Big game tonight considering oregon is one of the many teams we would need to lose 2 games to jump. I know im the only one thinking about it but its a possibility so we might as well work towards it now then get to the last week, realize we will finish with 1 loss and be like oh shit I hope the whole top10 loses at once

i'm not just saying it because we do it, but this style of football is so much more fun to watch. obviously running between the tackles and playing great d is superior but this is exciting.

I agree that the fumble through the end zone rule sucks complete ass. Should be something like the offense goes back go the 20 yard line, but are on the next down from the fumble play.
