Nice strike by Lewa but the keeper should have done better...

I think he didn't even considered he would hit it right there.

^ Liverpool hasn't said anything about Falcao, are you so ignorant on purpose? No one knows anything about Falcao, no one even knows Liverpool is interested. Its you buying into the media bullshit, not me buying into whatever Liverpool has "said."

Hilarious. Also I wouldn't be mad at all if Liverpool didn't sign anyone else this transfer window. I am a big believer in youth and Rodgers has a very good track record with young academy players. It would be great if Falcao were to come but I would be even more happy if an academy kid broke through.

^ oh you gunners are so cute. Of course Costa only moved to Chelsea for West London, of course!

Can't be the fact that Jose Mourinho is one of the best managers in the game compared to Sir Arsene Wenger the former one trophy winner in 9 years of Arsenal. Why would Costa not want to play for him?

Too early for predictions?

Unless somebody gets a blockbuster addition, here's mine.

1. Chelsea
2. Arsenal
3. City
4. Manchester United
5. Liverpool

18. Swansea
19. WBA
20. Burnley

Mine isn't too different. Switch City and Arsenal and put Liverpool fourth over United.

With all the talk about LVG people don't realize that right now that United squad simply isn't great. Basically they've upgraded at one spot (Herrera over Fellaini/Fletcher) THIS year. Still 20 days in the window of course, though and no Europe helps.

If Arsenal does get a real DM I think they can really have a go at City/Chelsea.

I really don't think United is one of the best 4 teams. I just think that's what's going to happen for some reason.

also, LVG has a very good track record with young academy players so

Liverpool look pretty good but Dortmund... well its sad to see them compared to two years ago. No Goetze, Lewandowski, Reus or Gundogan. Amazing how they've been decimated by injuries and Bayern.

Also Liverpool and United have a huge advantage by not having as many deep World Cup players. Between them really only RVP haven't been with the team all preseason.

My prediction:

United + Vidal = Title contenders

United no Vidal = top 4 contenders

Chelsea to win the title, I think

2-4 could be any distribution of Arsenal, United, and Everton. Top 6 includes City, Liverpool. Top 10 is way harder to call for me, but includes Spurs.

I think this year there is going to be a massive gap between the top 4 and the rest of the top half. I see City imploding, Liverpool starting strong but not being able to go the distance due to injury, Spurs and Arsenal doing the traditional implosion, and Everton surprising the shit out of everyone by making the UCL spots before RM jumps ship to go to Real Madrid.

All fair points. Agree about City, even though I think a City "implosion" won't knock them out of the top 4. Liverpool is done if Sturridge/Sterling get hurt for any long stretch so I can agree with you there too.

The one thing about United being top 4 contenders is that they're still pretty thin with quality so they need a massive season from Rooney to keep them going, just like Liverpool needed from Suarez. He's definitely capable but I wouldn't be banking on it.

Think this City core has one more great year in them. Kun won't play more than 20 league games though which could cost them the title.

Yaya, Kompany, Silva, Zabaleta, etc will all be approaching 30 or older start of next season.

I don't typically overrate Arsenal players but is Ramsey the second best box to box CM in the league behind Yaya? Clearly more than a purple patch and he does EVERYTHING easily.

I think Rooney is going to be huge this year. He's looked the fittest he ever has in this preseason. With Mata taking up the #10 role, Rooney is free to terrorize defenses at will. He may get hurt (he always seems to), but I think RVP and Welbeck pick up the slack this year. I also think this is Danny Welbeck's breakout year, finally. Go ahead and laugh, but he's due.

Mangala looks like a good player from bits I've seen but defender transfer fees are getting ridiculous.

I'm biased but a combined £38 for Sahko/Lovren looks like damn good business when Mangala just went for £32.

ah. So basically the same reason Lallana went for so much, because of the huge sell-on fee that had to go to Bournemouth.

Just looked at United's fixtures. They basically got the top 6 favorites for relegation in a row to start the season. Can't wait to hear about how they're going to win the title in September.

City signing everyone to extensions, cutting guaranteed wages and putting in absurd, easily reachable performance bonuses. Ah, FFP.
