We were getting more money from Adidas by being an all-sport Adidas school compared to each sport pics a supplier and Debbie pushed for that.

Believe UA has a chance to slide in this year...but it may be next. Anyways, heard lots of football players talking about the switch today as well as staff.


It would be for football only, Basketball and Baseball have a separate deal on their own...like a Classics contract or something. Can't remember the name of it.

If we do end up with UA, hopefully this doesn't lead to this new trend of teams having like 10 different uniforms they mix-and-match. I know Maryland has been doing that lately, and I want no part of that.

My biggest complaint about Adidas is how often they change the basketball uniforms. Each year we have a new design (the 2011-2012 jerseys were the best ones we've had since the middle of V's era).

Football isn't anything great, but they're not bad either. I love our baseball jerseys though.

^i agree. i do wish we had some more continuity with our uniforms...and then throw a couple alternates or special jerseys here and there. but changing the entire design every year gets old to me. i think i just like the tradition of having one standard uniform style year in and year out. but i'm aware that it's all about attracting recruits, not appealing to people who are gonna tune in no matter what.

First off, we have a university-wide contract with Adidas. We switched about 10 years ago to Adidas for everything. The final Amato uniforms (the Atlanta Falcons knock-offs) were Adidas.

Yep. Softball had UA and even wore the black UA jersey for a game or two after the switch to Adidas because the black Adidas jersey were delayed in getting to us.

Baseball had Majestic, but Majestic actually stopped being a collegiate jersey provider the year we switched to Adidas.
WBB had Nike.

I have no problem admitting that I am a Doeren critic. But I am not the only one. There are several posts on page 1 of this thread who agree that this is our best opportunity to compete for a championship.

^^I don't think most of our fan base would be content just getting to a bowl. I think everyone wants us to compete for conference championships, which is why we got rid of the last two coaches. And the reality is that after this year, we will be rebuilding with a new QB again for another 3-4 years. So if we cant win a championship this year, it'll be at least another 5 years before we are competing again.

Look at our QB situation.

Year 1: Our team completely revamped the offense and tried to fit a square peg in a round hole. Mitchell was a converted WR that could run but had no arm, and Pete Thomas had a decent arm but no running attack. Pete would have been solid in TOB's offense. Brissett is getting a ton of hype from the staff with his work on the practice squad.

Year 2: Brissett takes the helm, fits Doeren's offense nicely. We start off limiting him running the ball because we have 0 depth and the coaches desperately want to redshirt 4* McClendon. This is the same Brissett that got beat out 2 years at UF when they had a horrible QB and offense. All reports are great about McClendon from the practice squad.

Year 3: Brissett is back for his senior year with a 4* RS-FR backing him up that the coaches are practically gushing over. Expect Brissett to limit his running until we get to the ACC and then you'll see our offense look a lot like it did the last 4 games of last year.

Year 4: McClendon will take over as a RS-So with 2 years in the system. I expect the offense will alter a bit with less QB running and more down the field throws with play-action as we have landed a platoon of RBs.

I don't see where this rebuilding will start that you're talking about. Doeren got here with BARE cupboards and he's replenished them with guys that fit his system that he likes. I mean McClendon was a 4* with plenty of offers, we just landed Meyers last year that had SEC offers, not sure why we'd be rebuilding.

And the "Doeren can't win without elite QBs", get out of here. Brissett was 2nd string for a horrible UF offense, Matt Canada deserves a lot of credit for working with Brissett and making our offense work for him. Brissett definitely is a winner off the field, but it's not like he came here as a sure-fire winning QB you could build your team around. And how many great teams don't have above-average to great QBs? Look at 3 of the top 4 teams last year, you had 2 Heisman winning QBs that went high in the NFL draft and you had Ohio State with 3 really good QBs. QBs are difference-makers in college football, not sure why you're upset that Doeren is finding these guys. You think people were clamoring to offer Jordan Lynch? Brissett was a highly rated recruit but UF sure didn't know how to use him or want him starting for their team.
