Good, why is the south the only place on earth that publicly celebrates traitors. One of the most memorable pictures from the Iraq war was Suddam's statue being torn down. But the South (SC in particular) names streets, buildings etc and builds statues to celebrate their shit head dead leaders.
All of their confederate horse shit needs to be destroyed or moved into museums. It's a slap in the face to every minority.
Some body should hook a chain to that piece of shit and drag it through the streets.

Shots about to be fired....
Confederate states were more than just about slavery. The "slavery" in the north was much worse than that of the south and just about gets swept under the rug because 1)denial and 2)indentured servitude was seen more as a social "pecking order" of classes rather than the master/slave (white owners with african slaves) structure in the south. It's been historically recorded that slaves in the south were treated better on average than those who were in the working class in the North. I'm not saying they had it easier in the south, but the typical liberal history book paints a the south as evil and the war fought for the wrong reasons.
By now, I don't see how generations of today's blacks are African anymore. We are all Americans here. You are the culture you live with, that you were born into, and that you associate closer with. You don't live in Africa anymore. Majority of blacks don't celebrate tribal beliefs or rituals of their ancestors. These people don't have African culture, they have American Culture. I wish blacks would stop playing the slavery card and the African-American card. Get rid of the division, stop drawing the line! Just be Amercian! I'm not English-Japanese-American, I'm just American. This goes the same with hispanics, or any other creed or color. You don't become Christian because you wear a Holy Cross. You are who you are because of what you believe in defined by the actions you make. 6/21/2015 9:17:22 PM |

BlackJesus Suspended 13089 Posts user info edit post |
1st paragraph is so wrong I won't bother responding. 9 English-Japanese-Americans did not get murdered because they were light skinned. This man went into a church and killed 9 people because they had dark skin. How would you feel if we named a few streets after the guys in charge of the ww2 japanese internment camps? What if we erected some statues dedicated to these people?
You can't say black people need to stop playing the race card when its obvious that race matters in the country. Now if we stopped identifying people by races and everyone check American on a census I could understand you making that comment. But as long as the words African American are listed next to me and every other dark skin persons name you can't expect anyone to not point out that some shit is racist and wrong. 6/21/2015 9:34:01 PM |

The war was all about slavery (states rights to have slaves)....If the north had slaves how come slaves escaped the south to go north? Can someone point me to some respected sources were I can read about how the North fought a war to end slavery while having slaves...
Quote : | "While many still debate the ultimate causes of the Civil War, Pulitzer Prize-winning author James McPherson writes that, "The Civil War started because of uncompromising differences between the free and slave states over the power of the national government to prohibit slavery in the territories that had not yet become states. When Abraham Lincoln won election in 1860 as the first Republican president on a platform pledging to keep slavery out of the territories, seven slave states in the deep South seceded and formed a new nation, the Confederate States of America. The incoming Lincoln administration and most of the Northern people refused to recognize the legitimacy of secession. They feared that it would discredit democracy and create a fatal precedent that would eventually fragment the no-longer United States into several small, squabbling countries."" |

Obviously there were other disagreements, but the argument over slavery HUGELY the largest one. You can all it "states rights" all ya want, but the primary "states right" de jour then was slavery, particularly the north's opposition to the south's efforts to expand slavery into the western territories.

Hiro, there is no history book that paints the South as "evil" or downplays conditions for workers in the North. That's dumb, dude.
MaximaDrvr, there were a number of ways folks extended indentured servitude contracts well beyond 7 years. Many of those workers did not come voluntarily and often wound up in the Caribbean, which was largely a death sentence.
Regardless, I don't know what indentured servitude has to do with anything, as it was generally phased out in favor of slavery and wage labor. I think Hiro's just misinformed and perhaps a little fatigued.
