I'm not going to say I'm done with this game, but I think I see the end of my time coming.

I hate to be "that guy" coming in and shitting on everyone's party, but I'm just not seeing much of an appeal to this game any more. I guess I was a bit hooked on the leveling up and finding different Pokemon, but now at Level 22 it's just a slog to level and I almost never see any new dudes. Also I just don't see very much challenge to this game at all other than knowing which types to use in battle vs other types, but all you need for that is a chart. If there were a lot more battling than it would be better to have that knowledge, but as it is now it's not like you're constantly in battles or anything. I guess the walking around is a challenge and that's generally a good thing for society, but I bike to and from work every day and work out as much as I can. Walking around to catch pokemon isn't adding a whole lot to my day really.

I'm not sure what would make it better for me, though I think adding a little bit of skill to anything other than the battles might be interesting. Like maybe when you evolve or power up there's a set of minigames or something that would affect either the outcome CP, moveset, or how much candy is used. I dunno

I think it might be fun to have to battle a pokemon and weaken it to catch it rather than just throw a ball at it. Kinda like how it was in the actual show.

I capture gyms for coins to get egg incubators to hatch as many as I can. That's about the extent of my playing. I rarely even capture wild ones anymore.

I accidentally bought like 30 lucky eggs one day with my phone in my pocket so I am good on those forever haha. Was saving my gold for pokeballs once I had enough space to buy 100 at a time.

Yeah seems everyone in the gyms around me have no issues hatching Lapras and Snorlax, and here I am with 3 damn Jynx and 82 Jynx candy with nothing to do with it, because to hell with beefing them up.

Buddy of mine (lvl 24) saw a CP2010 Snorlax at his work and caught it. It's IV is 67%-79%, but still... free gym squating snorlax. I wish I was that lucky.

I caught a wild Snorlax but my level was slow so it was only CP500, so nice to have in the Pokedex but useless for gym purposes.

Did hatch a Porygon in a 5k egg yesterday, so that was nice.

probably something like 1 candy/Km with a max of 3 candies per day.

But I wonder if it's per pokemon or per type... because this would deter me from releasing any pokemon so that I could keep them and walk em for candies. Gyarauno finishes walking, I'll start walking Gyarados. Then Gyaratres...

I hadnt heard about that guess they are caving to casual players again. Even though I am pretty casual I still liked the idea of when I get one of those rare ones being excited when I find another or hatch one to get the candy to power it up a few times. That will take that excitement away now all that matters if finding a decent IV one and you are done. Oh well maybe I can get my 50 CP jigglypuff thing thats like 98 IV leveled up now haha

Supposedly dust is the biggest bottlenecks at the highest levels unless you are only leveling up a single Pokemon. Being low on Rare Pokemon candy sucks, and even the people who dump money into the game cannot do anything about it (candies cannot be bought).

If you specify 1 candy per KM and limit the amount per day per family, that should create balance. I believe that I saw high CP Pokemon require up to 6 candies per power-up. So you could make that 6 KM over 2 days for ~30 CP boost. Seems fair.

^Did you say that right? I'd think CANDY would be a bigger bottleneck than DUST.

I usually have anywhere from 100k-150k dust, because no one is leveling up 10 Pokemon, you typically just have 5-6 that you give a shit about. Candy on the other hand has been a bitch to find for some rarer types, and thus why my Exeggutor, Gyrados, and Vaporeon are maxed out(easy to find candy) but my Arcanine still has work to do(need more candy!).

I'm sure it'll be the same when I catch 1 more damn Bulbasaur and have my Venusaur, going to be looking for candy on the reg.

I have like 80k but I am also saving it mostly in case I get one of the ones that is actually good haha. I level my best vaporeon up occasionally but I dont have any of the other great ones currently to dump a ton of dust into.

The needing revives to heal Pokemon when training has definitely changed up the gym scene. Seems that gyms last longer now and the ability to tier up all depend on the lowest Pokemon being easy enough to beat with a lower Pokemon to easily level it up.

Also had a Rhydon on my nearby list this morning but couldn't find it before it vanished, so that was a letdown haha.

So now with the update out, what strategy is everyone using for their buddies?

Harder to find? Closing out ones you're close on evolving? Feel like most of my buddies went straight to Charmander, and I'm over here debating between finishing out evolving my Haunter(12 candy to go) or my Pikachu(20 candy to go).

Ended up going with Pikachu since it's 1km/candy as opposed to 3km/candy for Ghastly/Haunter.

I chose Charmander as my starter but I've only seen like three total and they are all less than 100 cp so even if I did have enough candy it would make a really weak Charizard. I do have a 600cp Dratini though, so even though I'll have to walk like 100km to get enough candy, he'll one day be a pretty strong Dragonite.

^Fun fact! 2KM eggs are the _only_ way to get high IV Pidgeys right now (unless the code has changed). The same goes for the regular starter Pokemon (Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle). The wild Pokemon IVs are generated using a mash of a few numbers; unfortunately, one of those numbers the the Pokemon PokeDex #.
