I hope that Louisville player that got injured will be okay. Tough break.
Good win. I hope we can keep it up. Still a little mad about the South Carolina game. I just can’t get over it because of how good we look right now. 10/5/2017 11:48:46 PM |

^^^I mean, it was a big play definitely. But I'd say the Pick 6 was the biggest play.
There was a long completion to Harmon early in the 4th quarter on 3rd and 6 that was huge as well. Got us down to the 3 yard line, and Gillaspie scored the next play. Big because (a) Louisville had cut our lead to 5, and it put us up 13 after 2-point conversion (b) we didn't have to try a FG

^^^talking about big plays, we converted a 3rd and 15 late in the 3rd Q. 17-13 at the time, UL had just made a FG and kicked off to us. don't convert that and we're punting from our own 17 and UL has great field position and all the momentum. we converted that and we went on to score a TD that drive.

I thought the open field tackling(A few pretty lucky/skillful shoelace and trip tackles) was really good overall. The slant was the biggest missed tackle and Jackson slipped away a few times but overall I thought we did a really good job of not letting their skill guys turn a few small plays into big plays. On short rest to put together a defensive effort like that was impressive. 10/6/2017 8:49:54 AM |

I'll admit I am ready to eat crow on this season. I am buying into this being a good year. Still a chance things go to hell and we still end up 7-5 but I think 9-3 is looking like a real possibility now. 10/6/2017 9:05:21 AM |

Quote : | "'Like Tanks Coming Over the Hill'
A few years back, John Calipari described his Kentucky platoons by saying, "Like tanks coming over the hill." The Wolfpack's defensive line lived up to that billing against Jackson and the Louisville offensive line.
Every time it appeared Louisville had limited one future NFL defensive lineman, a backup would storm into the backfield to get a stop or disrupt the defending Heisman winner. The Wolfpack finished with six tackles for loss, four sacks and three QB hurries on the night.
Eurndraus Bryant had a huge first half, doubling his career sack total with two on Jackson -- with three of his four total sacks on the Louisville QB. As expected, Bradley Chubb also had a ridiculous outing on national TV with six tackles, one sack, two TFL, two QB hurries and a blocked PAT attempt. Let's just say the defensive line more than lived up to the hype against the Cardinals." |

Not complaining. I heard the announcers say multiple times that the DL was extremely fatigued and barely rushing on those last two drives for LV and I was wondering if that is due to lack of depth or no opportunity to substitute or DD just wanted to keep the best players in the game. Figured someone who knows the team better than me might explain it. 10/6/2017 9:41:11 AM |

We have solid depth at DL, but when the game is on the line you're not taking Chubb off the field. He was the one that was gassed. Plus when they're running no-huddle/hurry up you don't really have a ton of time to substitute.
I mean we basically sub in Roseboro/Street and Bryant had a strong game at DT(2 sacks I believe), but Chubb probably wasn't hearing anything about taking him off the field late with the game still in doubt. 10/6/2017 9:48:59 AM |

^You're not wrong. Our offense came up small in the redzone and we really need to address it. The roll outs with only 1 viable option for the pass were killing me.
The best part about last night was that honestly we didn't play our best game and we still won by 2 TDs. We had a bad turnover, poor redzone efficiency, missed a FG, some bad penalties, etc. We can clearly improve but we're improving each game and continuing to win. 10/6/2017 9:57:50 AM |

I wouldn't read much into the defensive line getting tired as the game progressed against a Heisman winning duel threat QB. Bama's DL ran out of gas in the last two national championship games against Deshaun Watson... I think it just naturally occurs as the game progresses against those type of QB's.

and our DL depth is really good. but i think the fatigue is just due to Jackson being such a handful, them running a quick offense at times preventing us from subbing....and because when Chubb was so disruptive it's probably hard to take him off the field. but good god the DL was getting after it last night.

Crowd was great last night, but who the hell was the moron in the black body suit with a Bengals shirt over it. That looked terrible on TV.
Red Zone miscues prevented us from putting game to bed early. Petrino is a scumbag for throwing his QB under the bus on the Pick 6. I would say he was the only reason they were even in the game. 10/6/2017 10:13:59 AM |

I say they need Gallaspy on the field once inside the red zone. I love Hines getting touches from the backfield, but once the field starts to compress it gets more difficult for big, gashing runs like we typically see from Hines. Gallaspy on the other seems to have a better body type for just running downhill into a collapsing hole and getting those really difficult ~4 yard carries. I think you pound it between the tackles once inside the red zone for atleast one play, which hopefully sets you up for shorter yardage and then you open up the playbook to roll Finley out or try a screen.10/6/2017 10:23:32 AM |

Last night we scored 3 TD's in 6 attempts from the Red Zone, along with 1 FG and 2 miscues (missed FG, fumble). We almost converted 3rd downs (5/12) at the same rate we scored TD's in the red zone.
For the year we've had 18 TD's and 5 FG's in 30 attempts... meaning we score TD's 60% of the time we enter the red zone and we score 76% of the time. For comparison, the national average is 63% TD rate and 85% scoring rate.

What was the deal with the no touchback call when the Louisville player obviously touched inside the endzone when fielding that punt? Did they rule that it was downed before he touched it or I'm not understanding the rule? I think NFL and college are different. 10/6/2017 11:03:39 AM |

C-F was insane on Thursday night. We started screaming as soon as the game starter and never let up. Don't recall it ever being that loud and intense, for that long. The upset of FSU a few years ago comes close, but the intensity of the crowd at that game was only super high towards the end, not the whole time.
