i JUST dropped my first gen on the concrete in the garage. Landed on its screen. It immediately lost cell signal and wifi. Restart fixed it though, weird.

so this just started happening friday night but whenever I talk to somebody they can't hear me! I have to put the phone in speaker phone so they can hear me. Does anybody know why?? I've never dropped this phone either.

i got a question...do i have 30 days to return my iphone since buying it from the apple store?

also, i got a case with the phone when i bought it..opened the package but never used the case. can i return it to the apple store? restocking fee?

also, what would i likely pay when its time to get the new version of the iphone in june? full phone price im guessing...as in like $599 or whatever the full price of the new handset would be.

how much was the 16gb 3g when it came out?

Before you take it back, make sure that there's nothing in the headphone jack and plug in and unplug the headphones a couple times. Chances are, the sensor that switches between headset and the built in speaker got stuck and didn't switch back the last time you removed some headphones, which was probably sometime friday. So the phone still thinks there are headphones in, which is why using speaker phone works (meaning your built in mic is OK hardware wise). Usually you can tell if this is the problem by pushing the volume buttons on the side and if it says "headphones" under the volume icon the pops up even though you don't have any in, then your sensor got stuck.

Both of these are answered on your receipt, but as for the first one, only if you're returning it because you're canceling your service else it's 14 days, and there will be a restocking fee. As for the second, yes if you have the packaging still, no restocking fee, 14 days.

this has been covered many times in this thread

when the 3g came out, at&t let people who had purchased the first gen iPhone at the subsidized price get the 3g at the subsidized price no matter how long they had left on their contract. no one has any reason to believe they wouldn't do the same thing this time, so you'll most likely get it for the subsidized price.

so....theres a chance i might be able to get the new one in june for an upgrade price..that would be nice..although i guess im willing to pay full price if i have to.

i had subscribed to a bunch of podcasts on one computer/itunes isntall, and have since uninstalled itunes from that pc. when i sync with my other pcs that have itunes by podcasts aren't refreshed. is there any way to get my podcasts to update on the other pcs or do I have to resubscribe?

I was wondering about this too. I want to have my podcasts update on both my pc and netbook. You'd think you'd be able to do this with itunes. It should just store your podcast settings in your account.

your iphone can only sync actual stuff with one copy of itunes. if you no longer have that copy of itunes, you need to go into the sync preferences for your iphone on your new copy of itunes and select "sync my podcasts with this device" or whatever it's called - it'll warn you that it's set to sync with another copy, and that doing this will erase all your stuff... you'll have to resubscribe to your stuff, but at least now it will update.

I havent updated my iphone yet because i use pandora alot.. some people say its possible to downgrade the carrier info allowing you to downgrade back to 2.2.1 if needed..but some people say it isnt possible. anyone try it yet?

p.s. beta 4 (build 7A300g) is out as of today (well, yesterday now, i guess - the 28th).

you have to install a prerelease version of iTunes 8.2 to activate it. weird.

camera now gives you the option to retake a picture if you want (i.e. it shows you a preview of the photo you take with retake/save buttons instead of just saving it to your camera roll), pretty neat
the Store panel in Settings.app is now populated, but it only lets you log in/log out of your iTunes account
Notes.app no longer syncs with iTunes, says it requires OS 10.5.7... which means that it should be coming out soon as well
seems to be faster in core apps (especially mail)

that's pretty much it.

but remember: the betas expire like 2 weeks after their release date (as you discovered, heh) so you're gonna have to flash a new build sooner or later

they're putting out 10.5.7 soon - we've been getting testing releases every couple days now which is a sign of imminent release (were getting them every week or so). it looks like they basically had a final pile of bugfixes for leopard that they just said "fuck it" and put them out, which is nice.

if i had to guess, i'd say the 10.5.7 update will be out any day now, and snow leopard will be released at WWDC.
