I love when its snowing, but not sticking and people are crashing. I also like driving past people that have somehow slid off the road, while I'm on summer only tires and somehow manage to stay straight.

http://www.erh.noaa.gov/rah/briefing/LatestBriefing.pdf
Models have trended slower with the arrival of
the ground-level freezing air.
• By the time the ground-level freezing air arrives, it
now appears that the bulk of the precip will have
pushed east of our area; however, that won’t
preclude the possibility for sleet to affect portions
of central North Carolina prior to the arrival of
ground-level freezing air.
• Where a precip type change-over occurs, sleet is
expected to be the primary non-liquid precip
type, more so than freezing rain.
• The area with the best chance of seeing sleet this
evening will be along and north of highway 64.
• Locations north and east of Raleigh could see a
coating to almost a half inch of sleet
accumulation.
• The main concern now appears to be black ice
early Friday morning, after the sub-freezing
surface air arrives.
• Black ice will be possible across all of central
North Carolina Friday morning. The northern
Piedmont and central and northern coastal plain
regions will likely have the most widespread black
ice, and greatest impacts to travel.
• Tonight’s low temperatures will range from the
upper teens near the VA border, to mid 20s near
the SC border.
• Temperatures will be slow to warm during the
daytime Friday, and won’t climb above freezing
until mid-day. But sunshine is expected, which
will improve road conditions by late morning or
early afternoon.
• Winter Weather Advisories will likely be extended
in time and area to cover all of central NC through
Friday morning due to the potential for black ice.

Apparently el nino this year is suppose to give us a wet winter. Things are on track for that so far.

Yep but doesn't mean the cold air will be there just means we should expect a lot of shitty days full of cold rain.

Some fucking BS

From what I had read, the El Nino effects we'd feel in NC would be normal winter temps, just wetter. I know it's not winter yet, technically speaking...sure has been wet though!

WRT to what I posted above, I interpreted the long term seasonal forecast to mean more snow, since usually whenever we get a cold spell during a NC winter it's usually very dry.

Way too early to tell, remember first day of winter is Monday.

I kinda agree. I was all ready for cold weather, well I thought I was. Ya gotta ease into it and two days ago I was working in a t-shirt and actually getting hot.

Today I walked out of the office pretty bundled up, got hit by an icy blast, and decided to sprint the rest of the way to my car.

Supposedly upper elevations in the area actually had some slight accumulation. Impressive for a two day temp swing.
