Those aren't bad or threatening, if they specified a group of people they might be, but they are simply truths, nothing lives forever, every soul will taste death, and all that is on earth will die. So unless either the Arabic language or stating simple facts of life are illegal, it should be left alone. 10/17/2008 9:49:47 PM |

meh.. i just want the game i paid for, they should have patched it, not screw over all the people that don't care (which i'm fairly certain is a very large number) 10/17/2008 10:10:47 PM |

right, because they obviously respect our culture where free speech is allowed and censorship is frowned upon

I thought this was a joke when I first heard it... So Sony is going to lose out on tens of millions of dollars, because of a few lines in a song? How many Muslims that would get upset over this were planning to buy the game anyway?
Whoever ran the numbers on this is a moron. Let's see, piss off a shit ton of people by delaying the game over this, or piss of some crazy people who probably think the PS3 is the devil anyway... yeah way to please your user base there. 10/18/2008 3:06:19 AM |

This is the WIRED xbox360 guitar I meant, the first generation.
NONE of them use IR though for the controllers, although the xbox has an IR port for the remote control to work. 10/19/2008 9:27:48 PM |

Motorstorm 2 does not seem all that different then the first with the exception of 2-4 split screen play which was my biggest complaint with the first one. I'll buy it when it goes down in price. 10/20/2008 11:00:59 PM |

Anyone tried Eternal Sonata yet, Ive been waiting for a decent RPG for the PS3 and Final Fantasy who knows when that will come out so really what I have seen is this and then The Last Remnant which looks pretty good. 10/22/2008 9:59:57 AM |

Motorstorm feels kinda slow and overly floaty to me.... I like my racing games tight and fast (Burnout Paradise comes to mind). I think Pure would be more up my offroad-racing alley (demo was actually pretty good).
I got Blitz: The League II from Gamefly and it's actually REALLY good. Shocking, considering the abomination that last year's was. 10/22/2008 11:13:52 AM |

I'm thinking about getting a PS3. I've researched into the numerous problems that can arise in a 360 and how people are now playing on their 6th piece of console hardware.
Also, I really want to be Dynasty Gundam and Rock Band and I'm not a big fan of Halo. 10/23/2008 1:22:13 PM |

Picked up LBP a little while ago, updating now. 10/26/2008 12:50:25 PM |
El Nachó special helper 16370 Posts user info edit post |
So I'm considering making LBP the first PS3 game that I own (MGS4 doesn't count since it's the game that came with my PS3 and I almost immediately gave it away to a friend).
But I can't really see what all the fuss is about. Even reading all the super glowing reviews hasn't convinced me. I'm not a particularly creative person so the idea of making my own side scroller game doesn't appeal to me. I don't have tons of online friends (at least ones with PS3s) to share things with. Aside from that, it's just an above average side scroller? What am I missing here that makes this game a must-own? Is this just one of those things that you have to see with your own eyes to believe? 10/26/2008 9:31:19 PM |
Kainen All American 3507 Posts user info edit post |
it's really amazing looking, extremely creative and unique, has lots of great mutiplayer/co-op options, and theoretically an endless supply of creative content you can get on the web. last but not least, it's a good way to validate the PS3 as a gaming machine you frequent.
Don't be cheap, give the game a try. 10/27/2008 12:33:35 AM |

^you did nothing to explain what the point of this game is or what it's all about...
seems all you do is create a level and then run through it by yourself or with friends 10/27/2008 10:03:10 AM |
Shrike All American 9594 Posts user info edit post |
It's a physics based side-scrolling platform with online co-op where you can create your own levels and share them with everyone. It comes with a story mode of ~50 pre-made levels and a series of very well made and narrated tutorials to introduce you to the create mode. Judging by the amount of levels made in just the beta, you could literally never touch the create mode and still play original content forever.
Honestly, what's so hard to get here? It's probably the simplest game to get that's been released this gen. The game play mechanics consist of running and jumping. The create and share aspect is like youtube for video games. You play as a walking, talking beanbag. That's it. If videos didn't sell you, the reviews didn't sell, and the impressions didn't sell you, than you're just being cynical and nothing anyone can say will help. Play it and decide for yourself. 10/27/2008 10:33:48 AM |

I'm not going to create levels either, but I love the creation aspect because it means other people will be making levels.
And the further I get into single player, the more fun I'm having--although I just spent some time acing levels to get the Roman gear. 10/27/2008 4:13:25 PM |

dude, creating levels isn't the core of the game...that's like saying the map maker for a computer RTS is the selling point of a game

Yeah, I think I'm gonna go try that today. This is fucking terrible though. Between LPB, Fallout 3, and now it looks like Resistance 2 is getting great reviews as well, I picked an awful time to start playing WoW again 10/28/2008 9:54:24 AM |
Kainen All American 3507 Posts user info edit post |
Ugh, don't play WoW. It sucks and ruins life, capitalizing all free time.
So LBP so far is really awesome, but they HAVE to fix the PSN/Server issues with the game......it's bad enough you can't go online with it because of bugs, but it physically slows down the game no matter what you're doing, sometimes to a freeze or crawl lasting 30 seconds long. It's totally retarded.
Sony, great game, but you can't have your flagship running like this....I heard SOCOM was just as bad according from Jeff Gerstmann when I visited Giant Bomb's studio in San Fran last week....they got to get a hold of things...
I mean I hate to be a critic but it's important to have online play run good, but it if mires the game in other ways that's 5x as bad. 10/28/2008 12:32:51 PM |
Shrike All American 9594 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah, the servers have supposedly been up and down since they first started them up yesterday. They really do need to get that fixed. I just picked up the game at Best Buy in xroads during lunch, if anyone is still looking for a copy. Circuit City, Toysrus, and Target didn't have any. 10/28/2008 2:18:55 PM |

DAMMIT
The good thing I guess is that hopefully it doesn't slouch the single player game if the servers are off, that was doubly worse.
Quote : | "Not too long after flipping the giant JOY switch deep within their basement, the folks at Media Molecule have had to temporarily extinguish all the lights across LittleBigPlanet. The servers will remain powered down until "the glitching issues some players have experienced" are resolved, says the developer's blog.
It's certainly been a rough starting period for the PS3's adorable build-a-platformer, with potentially offensive song lyrics delaying and staggering its debut. Let's hope things go more smoothly once everybody's in on the fun." |

Little Big Planet.
Despite the fact that the online play is still bugged like you wouldn't believe (Shrike and I tried to connect like what - 4 times with no avail?)....this game is a smash hit for me. I love every fucking thing about it. 10/10.
And that's saying a lot despite the fact I can't stand the online debacle....they need to fix it, but the game is so unique and fantastic I'm not letting it sully my appraisal of it.
Go get this game, it's a killer app. Unless of course, you're one of those guys who feel threatened by shit that is happy, ridiculous, and fun.

Hahaha indeed, the online play is beyond fucked right now. I did manage to connect to another friend of mine for like, maybe 10 minutes, enough to get through a couple levels. Got disconnected again and couldn't ever get it working again. At least you can browse and play user created levels now
Besides thats, yeah, it's incredible. Such an unbelievable amount of variety and creativity on display. They delivered big time on this one. 10/30/2008 7:30:38 AM |
