Pretty good game from Sid even with our lack of talent.

Positives: 1) Turnovers way the fuck down 2) Good PG play (looked like early 2007-08 season Degand) 3) Hustle and defense all night 4) Fells playing like he is capable 5) Great shot selection

Negatives: 1) Horner still playing over Smith, he only had 3 fouls at the end so don't give me that. 2) A walk-on playing in overtime. I like Simon. He hustles more than anyone, but he is not a threat to score and is too foul prone on D. 3) Rebounding. Holy shit 41-26 we were lucky we weren't blown out.

on the rebounding

Miami is like 8th in the country as far as the rebounding margin goes

They have been killing it

as far as the other negatives.... meh

cue simonn talking about how Degand is terrible even though he is obviously our best option at PG right now (Mays is good for a spark off the bench, but is still very inconsistent)

I agree completely, Simon Harris should have not played in OT, he is a liability on Offense and on D he is like a bull in a china shop

LOL so now we have won 2 ACC games and the thread should be locked?

What exactly is so bad about discussing Sid's coaching?

When we win people come in here and say see fuck you Sid's a good coach like we want the team to lose.

shit, I don't know, with this team, if they bring it every night, who knows what they could do.

But I know this thread is fucking retarded. The fact that people are watching this man's credibility is completely out of control.

No one is saying anything about him being an awesome pg, all I said was that he is obviously our best option at PG right now. When he was struggling earlier in the season you acted like he was and always had been terrible, when the reality of the matter was that he wasn't anywhere near fully recovered from his injury and that was the main culprit for his poor performance. He was solid (if unspectacular) for us before his injury last season, and will be so for us again this season provided that he stays healthy.

up until this game he was and always had been terrible. and it wasn't his knee either, it was him just doing stupid shit like going shoulder first into a defender in the lane and losing the ball w/ the clock running out in a one possession game. that has nothing to do w/ a bad knee.

Farnold was stationary up and down mcclinton jumped on him they called the foul. It was less of a foul than the no call that happened to costner to start the half. The refs did try their best to screw us in the second half. Lock the thread.

I was on that side of the arena 10 rows back from the floor trust me Farnolds foul was more of a no call than the no call of the costner three at the beginning of the half.

yeah I had a bum ankle sophmore year in college and I'd go play pickup ball and shoot 3's from half court and not hit the rim.

I also would let good passes hit me in the hands only to have it glance off and go out of bounds.

It was a good win. I'll give credit where credit is due.

I'm looking for consistency out of this team. We'll see how the next few games go. I'm not drinking the Lowe Kool-aid yet.

I think Simon Harris played great in OT. he brings a ton of hustle to the floor and he shut down thomas which is something no one else could do the whole night.

can we just stop with the argument that we should give Lowe a wide berth because he won a championship here as a player in 83? That has ZERO to do with his ability to be head coach and should not automatically be a pass to staying the head coach regardless of results.

If that criteria was all it took, Dohertey would still be coaching down the road.

I believe that our lack of consistency comes from our flat footed offense. We are terrible about moving without the ball. Our lack of point guard experience/skill might have some effect on developing the offense, but jeez the other four could move without the basketball. There is no movement. Last night, most of our good plays came from a failure by miami on defense, not a good State offensive play. From not moving without the basketball and developing plays we limit the opportunity to find good high percentage shots, thus we loose the games that we are not completely on FIRE from behind the arc. Also more movement would allow for a better opportunity at offensive rebounds.

We play good defense.

^^The Doh firing was considered pretty classless by most people outside of the rabid holes. I remember specifically TWW laughing at how classless it was. Also he was under performing with at least 3 mcdaa's. No respect for your National Championship winning alum?? That is really sad.

We played well last night. But is anyone else bothered by the fact that:

1) we made 14-26, 53% from 3
2) Fells had a career night.
3) Degand had 7 assists and only 2 TOs
4) Were leading by 19 at the start of the 2nd half

and we almost lost that game to a mediocre UM team?

Thank goodness for Mays or there would have been an epic meltdown on here.

UM was ranked this season. They have two excellent players (McClinton and Collins) and are a much more athletic team than we are. I wouldn't call them mediocre at all.

Thats college basketball in a nutshell, one the reasons its so great to watch. If every coach that gave up a big lead in college basketball got fired there would be 5 gone every week. Everyone makes runs in college basketball especially when dealing with relatively even teams. What really shows is how a coach deals with a team that is making a run, uses time outs to help stop momentum, etc. I always thought Herb was really bad at that. Lowe is hit or miss.

But to jump on a coach for giving up a lead .. they all do it. It is just a matter of how you refocus your team and get the game back under control.

And for the record I'm 50/50 on Lowe right now. I think he can't coach offense for a damn, but just not sure yet if it is a player issue or his issue. Time will tell.

Wish we would have put the game out of reach when we could have early in the 2nd half. But a win is a win.

I'm not expecting a win against UNC. I am expecting it to be competitive. If they do to us what we did to them in football, then I will be upset.

On the same token we almost came back from a 20 point deficit against BC. Who gives a fuck, we won.

Plus, its not Lowe's fault that we blow 20 point leads...its NC State's fault. We've been doing this shit for the past 10 years. Deal with it. At least we pulled this one out.

somebody said it before, first you lose by a little, then you win by a little

time will tell, but if mays and smith continue to develop and costner stays, and we get more production out of thomas and williams, we'll be alright
