Spot on. If you pass a criminal and mental health b/g check, they are legally required to issue you a CC permit, regardless of how he or anyone else feels about you. Purchase permits are out of the cards for you if he just decides he'd rather not give you one.

Got a gun safe and 4 new (to me) shotguns from my dad
one is a reeeeally good looking Ithica side-by-side 20gauge... it looks awesome, especially with the etched silver panel stuff
another one that I think is pretty cool is a little .22/410 over under... it needs some work to get it looking good and functioning smoothly, so I'll probably post some pictures when I get back and ask for yalls advice on restoration 6/24/2010 6:36:38 PM |

^^^When I bought my first long gun the day I turned 18, I was filling out the NICS form and was laughing at some of the questions, especially the "Are you a fugitive from justice" question, and I made the comment "who would be stupid enough to say 'yes'?" to the guy at the store, and he told me a story about a decently wanted criminal who came in to buy a gun, filled out the NICS and actually answered "yes" to that question. The guy in the store took the form in the back room to run it, called the cops, they ran his name, found out that he was actually telling the truth and came and arrested him. 6/24/2010 7:12:58 PM |

Cool, thanks!
Anyone think this will work: bring in the GSSF prices and offer to pay them that price, plus the membership fee ($25) and tax? I could even throw in the $15 shipping fee that I'd otherwise have to pay, since there are no GSSF-affiliated shops in NC.
If not, anyone know if I bought it from an out-of-state shop and had it sent to an FFL here, would I pay tax? I'm hoping in that case maybe I could avoid it the way you don't pay taxes on web purchases unless the retailer has a "business presence" in your state.

^Lol, sorry. Is military same as LE? Supposedly GSSF is the same price as LE. Also, that sheet apparently isn't entirely right according to what I've seen since finding it. Apparently, they now include 3 magazines instead of 2. 6/25/2010 11:56:13 PM |

I paid 650 for a Glock 36 w/ night sights NIB from a gun shop I like to do business with in Fayetteville because many of the salespeople are from the same work community I am in.
I calculated off of Gunbroker recently that with shipping and transfer fees this would be a good deal.
The nail in the coffin was I signed an agreement at the shop about buying the pistol for personal use (similar to the Oakley 50% military discount agreement) that I wouldn't resell.
Then I get on t-dub and see GSSF prices... lawlz..... 6/26/2010 1:06:15 AM |

lol sorry. If I were you, I'd show them the list and see if they're willing to do anything for you. I, for one, would never want to screw over a military member/veteran in the first place (other than my landlord, haha), but being confronted with evidence might make them refund you some money. Especially seeing as you'll probably run into these people a lot and you may tell others to avoid them. I'd at least go in and say something like, "have you heard of the GSSF discounts, they're crazy, take a look!" 6/26/2010 1:48:21 AM |

Decided to paint my AR-15 today for the hell of it:
Also finally got a chance to shoot my AR-10. It is an Armalite 20" AR-10 with a stage 2 match trigger. Glass is a Burris 3.5-10x50 Fullfield II and I am using the Burris AR-P.E.P.R. 1" Scope Mount that had been on back order for a couple months. Shot pretty sweet, can't wait for deer season. 6/26/2010 7:32:59 PM |

There is a GSSF dealer in Charlotte called Hyatts and GLOCK says it is up to Lawman's discretion (in raleigh) if they honor GSSF since they are a LEO dealer and used to do GSSF.
I seriously doubt any dealer would listen to you if you walked in with the gssf price sheet and wanted those prices. Just join GSSF for $35 and then get the discount yourself. 6/27/2010 9:58:51 PM |
dave421 All American 1391 Posts user info edit post |
Don't Glock dealers that participate in GSSF get a larger discount from Glock? I know the LE places do but it seems like that's what I was told. If so, I'd say that you'd have a hard time getting that price from a non-participating dealer. 6/27/2010 10:29:36 PM |

Personal Defense can get pretty crowded. Weekends are typically pretty bad as are evenings (that is 50/50 though). I stopped going there once my membership ran out though- I just wait until I can go to one of my friends houses. Personal defense just got a little snobby/asshole-y to me one too many times, and not being able to shoot shotguns there anymore ruins half my fun (and over half of my range selection) 6/28/2010 9:19:55 PM |

the person county sheriff's office was very nice to deal with when changing my address for my CHP. the sheriff actually signs the forms there instead of just having a stamp with the sheriff's signature (which is how wayne county does it). the sheriff was on his way out to his car and overheard me telling the lady what i was there for and he stopped and signed it for me so i wouldn't have to come back later. i was impressed. 6/30/2010 7:38:43 PM |

I've got a friend looking to get a CC piece. Budget is $350, likes bulkier frames (so probably doesn't want a pocket carry; but feel free to list), wants semi-auto, 9mm or .380. I haven't been able to look at a lot of CC pistols or keep up with all the new ones... anyone care to list some good brands & models for <=$350? And anyone that likes pissing contests, please reserve that for another time

Not many options for $350. You can find used early XD9c's for that or maybe a Kahr CW9. If I was stuck on that price, I'd look for one of those two or a Taurus Millenium Pro or something. If he can bump it up $50, it'll open up a lot more options though. 7/2/2010 7:19:59 AM |

You've really only got a couple of semiauto choices at that price. There's the Kel-Tec PF-9 or P-11 or the Bersa Thunder 380.
My choice at that price would be a Taurus Model 85 Ultralite in 38 special. but if I had to pick a cheap semi it'd probably be the PF-9. nice and slim. 7/2/2010 10:40:43 AM |

The P-11 is bulky to me.
If he's willing to go full sized then you can get a Ruger P series or S&W Sigma for $350 or less.

people seem to love the CZ-52 and the ammo's cheap, even if you can't get it locally
only issue is the weak pin, which is easy and cheap to replace 7/4/2010 3:58:36 PM |
