Which mean JACK SHIT unless you look at the actual PLAYERS on the team. Yes, Fells & Costner were highly touted players. Yes several other members of team have decent rankings too. But there are still

1) No PGs that should get playing time on an ACC roster
2) No big guys to dominate the post
3) No players capable of taking over a game AND being at all reliable night in and night out.

You're making a huge assumption that State's players have a significant amount of "untapped potential" that you miraculously can see and that and Sidney Lowe CAN'T see. And personally, I think you're wrong. I have gone into a lot of depth to explain why. You on the other hand came back with ONE FREAKIN' LINE in response. I'm not impressed.

Rankings don't mean SHIT unless you have ALL the pieces. You don't a cast of all-stars, but you do need solid role players to compliment your stars. State has subpar stars and subpar role players. And for each individual player, that's due to a lack of talent, experience, or the mental toughness needed when the game is on the line.

Every game I've watched I've seen Lowe trying everything... and I do mean EVERYTHING to get this team to win. He's tried every concievable line-up. He's benched starters for freshmen when they showed a lack of hustle. He's switched defenses a dozen times a game. He's run a FULL COURT PRESS with quite possible the slowest, least-athletic team in the ACC... and it WORKED. He's even gone back to calling plays from the bench, since State doesn't have even one PG capable of doing so on his own.

Bottom line - I see Lowe and I see a coach doing everything he can to make up for his failures on the recruiting trail.

Now, when Lowe has only his recruits, THEN we'll see what he can do as a coach. THEN we'll see whether the talent gap was the problem, and whether he can bring in recruits to keep up with the likes of UNC, Duke, and now Wake Forest.

However, THEN is not NOW. Right NOW we should all just shut the fuck up and let things play themselves out.

But honestly why even bring it up? Have I not said that either Lowe is a bad coach or the players aren't stepping up? B/c I have.

Besides, the recruiting rankings, once again, dodn't take into account the personel. Bottom line is that State has sucked w/o a decent PG for three years much like the football team struggled w/o a QB. I still maintain that a great coach (even Coach K for example) couldn't do much with this team...

mccauley and costner played like a pussies today. Mccauley was much tougher in the post 2 years ago. Costner did more than turn the ball over and throw up threes. IIRC, costner was a rebounding machine 2 years ago in that game.

^i was watching fells after that play.. he was on the bench sideline, and he tugged on his jersey a couple times before he was taken out.. i dunno what our sub signal is, but he was only out of the game for maybe a minute and a half. he needed a quick rest.. he came right back in.. unfortunately no one else on our team could hit a shot...


also, our pg's kept trying to play tight on lawson and he would dribble past them every time. we needed to give him more room and keep him in front of us.. oh well..

i didn't notice any big coaching mistakes in this one.. we had several open looks we couldn't knock down.
