In 12 years Marshall has proven that he can sometimes make it to the NCAA tournament (in a really shitty conference) and even once managed to win a tournament game. Has he ever even beaten a ranked opponent??

In 2 years Smart has proven that he can make it to the tournament (in a shitty conference) and has the ability to win games (against legit teams) once he has gotten to the tournament.

I really like what Smart has been able to do, not only making the Final 4 this year, but just how he seems to have a nice balance of being able to be a friend to the players and get them hyped, but also keep them grounded, ie with a minute left in the Kansas game when the team was all pumped up and he was keeping them level headed

but to play devil's advocate...he is doing it with the players that Anthony Grant recruited

I'm not worried about Smart's ability to recruit. His regular seasons haven't set the world on fire so I'm hoping this run isn't a total Hewitt-esque fluke. Even so he seems like a good guy and would be a much better ambassador for the university than Marshall.

Again though, I think the odds of him pulling a Brad Stevens and staying put are pretty high.
