I used to never wear rings.

I was at the shop an acquaintance owns, getting a gift certificate, and decided to go ahead a buy one. They were cheap, simple, and pretty (jade).

Supporting this person's shop was only part of why I bought a ring. The other is so that my bf would have a chance in hell at surprising me when he proposes. I used to have no idea what size ring I wear, so I figured I'd give him a little help

A family member of mine had some sort of psychiatric episode last week, and spent overnight in the hospital.

That's about all the detail I have, but I don't need any more right now.

I'm glad she had psychiatric troubles.
She has always been a judgmental person, and has gotten even more so, and adding religion to the mix. I think that for a while, she's been on the verge of becoming such a religious nutcase that she'd rather pray than get medical professionals involved if she or one of her kids were to get sick. Her husband, poor guy (my uncle - she married in), is not like this. She changed DRASTICALLY after having kids and not working. She is not who he married.


When I was put in the psych wards as a kid, and other out-of-home placements, she accused my mother of 'abandoning' me and not being a real mother, and that if she'd just raised me right, I wouldn't have ever had any psych problems. That was ten years ago, and she still brings it up.


I wonder if (and sincerely hope) she'll be singing a different tune now. As it is, she won't talk to anyone right now (except her husband and kids). She's too ashamed.

Oh, it's so good to have friends who love you despite and/or because of your outspokeness.

I'm talking about smaller things like grammatical fuckups (I mean, seriously...they're not gonna fix it on their own, but if it's a case where they really have no idea what egregious errors they're making, they'll never know if someone doesn't speak up. If they know, and don't care...well, I'll feel better having said something)

And like this scenario:
In the fucking desert...the people pull up, and leave their dog in the vehicle, with the windows up. Now, it's an RV of sorts (one of the truck add-on deals), and it's 58 outside

But this was at a dog-friendly national park, and they didn't even crack the windows. Fortunately, the dog didn't seem to be in distress, but who the fuck takes their dog on vacation, but can't be bothered to bring him along? Leave him at home.

In cases like that, I'd rather apologize on the spot than think about it weeks later. The bf was all 'No! DO NOT say anything! Look - the dog's fine!'

When it comes to people's actions having a deleterious effect on me, I speak up right quick. I learned really early on that you have to.

I'm the same way about honesty, I grew up lying about everything now I have a hard time lying about anything and hate people who lie about stupid shit. Problem is I seem to think I know when someone is lying and call them out for it on the spot like it's my duty to make them a decent person. Luckily I really only do it to people close to me, unfortunately this pisses those people off and tend to ruin things. I just feel like I have certain standards and lying about stupid shit won't be tolerated. I apologize if I lack trust but that's the card I've been played and don't feel like changing for anyone.

I think this is the age range where people start showing signs of how they will behave in the future. It's like something in their brain shut off and refuses to make room for new or contrary ideas. They just latch on to something and hold on no matter how rediculous or mental it makes them seem.
