Obama is a fool. Is Greece going to help us with our 14+ trillion in debt? The guy is just completely clueless.

By the Jewish religious leaders. Not the state. I'm sorry that you can't tell the difference. moron's article was identical.

most def.

"People just want to get married, and yes, that is a basic human right."

And no one in the government in israel is stopping them.

Quote :
"I have more faith in the UN's ability to define human rights than I do in yours."

I have more faith in the UN's history of anti-semitism than I do in your ability to recognize it.

Quote :
"I never thought conservatives would argue so strongly for gov. imposing religious beliefs onto people so blatantly."

No, the gov't there is saying "marriage is a religious ritual, therefor we will recognize marriages performed by religious groups." They aren't imposing beliefs on anyone. You want to get married and recognized by the state? Go to a church/mosque/whatever. They won't marry you? Go outside the nation and get married. You don't wanna do that? Fine. you can still be married, pledge your lives to each other, it just won't be state recognized.

Quote :
"People have a basic human right to marriage? Are we talking about the bond that can exist between two people, or the institution of marriage? I think there's a substantial difference between the two. The former will exist regardless of the state's recognition, while the other grants special privileges to state-sanctioned relationships."

Bingo.

Quote :
"The institution; the civil benefits that accompany a marraige license."

not so much. Are we now also going to define what those civil benefits are and what must be granted to people who are "married"? That's preposterous. Two people should have the right to pledge their lives together and whatnot, but that's as far as it goes. State recognition should be up to the individual state and its laws.

and wanting to help out Greece? does he not see the writing on the fucking wall? Greece is in trouble because it did exactly what Obama wants to do: big government, and massive entitlements.

So does Obama ursurp W. Bush as the war monger now? I'll admit I do not know if Bush stretched us out in this "secret war" manner, but come on, now we are in a 4th war. Between this shit and now Greece, where does our advanced baby sitting the whole god damn world stop?

Very interesting read on how we are committing ourselves in Yemen, otherwise. Oh and we don't know what side Al Qaeda is on here either.

"U.S. Is Intensifying a Secret Campaign of Yemen Airstrikes

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration has intensified the American covert war in Yemen, exploiting a growing power vacuum in the country to strike at militant suspects with armed drones and fighter jets, according to American officials.

...

A senior Pentagon official, speaking only on condition of anonymity, said on Wednesday that using force against militants in Yemen was further complicated by the fact that Qaeda operatives have mingled with other rebels and antigovernment militants, making it harder for the United States to attack without the appearance of picking sides. did you always hate war, and still hate war?

did you hate war, now find yourself loving war?

did you love war, but now can't stand the sight of it?

did you love war, hate it for a bit, but now love that mess?

did you hate war, love it for a while, then realize you just hate it even more?

f all that

16 consecutive months of job growth without Republican support.

Maybe if the GOP would work with the president we could accelerate the recovery, rather than working against President Obama and slowing the recovery.

Economic indicators are all pointing in the wrong direction right now. The temporary growth we experienced from our unprecedented spending spree has slowed to a halt, QE2 was a failure, debt and default issues threaten the creditworthiness of our government and job creation has dried up. All of this bodes very poorly for Obama in 2012. While I don't believe that the GOP will field a valid presidential candidate, the economic climate is going to make Obama's reelection campaign a much closer race than it ought to be.

If the economy tanks and we enter another recession in 2012, as some economists predict, we may see a President Romney in 2013.

Show time.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/jun/14/boehner-gives-obama-friday-deadline-libya/

Quote :
"Boehner gives Obama Friday deadline on Libya

Stepping up a simmering constitutional conflict, House Speaker John A. Boehner warned President Obama on Tuesday that unless he gets authorization from Congress for his military deployment in Libya, he will be in violation of the War Powers Resolution.

In a letter sent Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Boehner, the top Republican in the constitutional chain of succession, said Mr. Obama must provide a clear justification for committing troops to Libya by Friday. Sunday marks the 90th day since the president notified Congress that U.S. troops had been committed to help enforce a no-fly zone over Libya, which is designed to protect the rebels fighting Col. Moammar Gadhafi’s government.

In a letter sent Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Boehner, the top Republican in the constitutional chain of succession, said Mr. Obama must provide a clear justification for committing troops to Libya by Friday, which marks the 90th day since the president committed U.S. troops, and the clock started ticking under the War Powers Resolution.

“The Constitution requires the president to ‘take care that the laws be faithfully executed,’ and one of those laws is the War Powers Resolution, which requires an approving action by Congress or withdrawal within 90 days from the notification of a military operation,” Mr. Boehner said in the letter.

The White House has repeatedly said it has complied with the law by alerting Congress to the initial deployment, and by providing follow-up briefings about the pace and extent of U.S. troops’ commitment.

But the administration has never sought approval from Congress.

The Constitution gives Congress the power to declare war, but makes the president commander-in-chief — and those dueling roles have caused tension throughout the nation’s history.

Two weeks ago the House passed a non-binding resolution that urged Mr. Obama to provide detailed information on the deployment. Mr. Boehner at the time signaled that Congress might cut off funding for the deployment in Libya if the administration didn’t comply."

d357r0y3r, your boy McCain would of already bombed Iran (when they had those protest last year) and bomb Syria along with Libya.....McCain would of been much worse. Luckily, the whole GOP field is full of suck so Obama will win even if his approval rating is down.....kinda like W when he won is second term. Obama is actually doing pretty good vs the GOP field now...heck, he might even win NC by more than he did last time......

Hahaha. Dude, you've done this before. I was a Ron Paul supporter in 2008. I am a Ron Paul supporter for 2012. I did not support McCain or Obama; they both have the blood of innocents on their hands. I advocate a full and immediate withdrawal from Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Pakistan, and the liquidation of most if not all overseas military bases.

You might be right that Obama has caused the death of fewer people than McCain would have. That in no way makes up for the fact that Obama has caused the death of some people.

The President has the power to end wars. Obama did not end the wars. Therefore, he is responsible for all of the lives that have been destroyed since he took office.

Quote :
"Lawmakers sue President Obama over Libya

A bipartisan group of House members announced on Wednesday that it is filing a lawsuit charging that President Obama made an illegal end-run around Congress when he approved U.S military action against Libya.

“With regard to the war in Libya, we believe that the law was violated. We have asked the courts to move to protect the American people from the results of these illegal policies,” said Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), who led the 10-member anti-war coalition with Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.).

The White House is expected on Wednesday to deliver to Congress a much-anticipated report detailing military activity in Libya.

According to Kucinich, the suit will challenge the Obama administration’s “circumvention of Congress and its use of international organizations such as the United Nations and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to authorize the use of military force abroad.”

It also will ask a judge to prohibit the White House from conducting a war without congressional approval.

Kucinich has scheduled a press conference at noon in front of the D.C. federal courthouse.

The suit comes a day after House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) sent Obama a letter claiming that military action in Libya will violate the 1973 War Powers Resolution if it does not end by Friday, 90 days after it began.

The Kucinich-Jones group also includes Democrats John Conyers of Michigan and Michael Capuano of Massachusetts and Republicans Howard Coble of North Carolina, John Duncan of Tennessee, Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland, Ron Paul of Texas, Tim Johnson of Illinois and Dan Burton of Indiana."

The belatedness of this anger over the US involvement in Libya is telling. Lawmakers could have responded much earlier with this kind of furor, but did not. It is completely a political game.

^^I agree. I would also add, though, that the President has 90 days to make his case to Congress. As it is day 86ish, Congress is getting openly pissed. Don't forget that they sent him a letter two weeks ago demanding him to say what was up, and he hasn't done anything.

no, it wasn't. Until all priests and rabbis are paid by the state, then they are NOT state representatives. You have the weakest argument imaginable. Just finish it off with "WELL YEAAAAAAAH??? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!" and it'll be perfect

Quote :

It's perfectly relevant to point out that the UN is anti-semitic when it is, once again, bitching about Israel, as it has done many times. Israel launches a raid to take out people firing rockets at civilians, and the UN condemns israel. yeah, makes perfect sense

Quote :
"the way the GOP primaries are done, Paul would never win. They wouldn't let him win."

I know, right? I remember the NY primary last time where they took his name off the ballot and told people they couldn't vote for him.

Quote :

Paul has always been cagey in response to abortion. Every time I've seen him reference it, he merely mentions that has delivered over X number of babies. But, I'd suspect that he would be in favour of letting individual states decide how they want to handle it, which, to me, seems the most reasonable way to do it

Bullshit. If they are in charge of issuing state sanctions, then they are representatives of a state. Being a representative has nothing to do with whether or not it pays you.

They didn't make the "Declaration of Human Rights" to bitch about Israel. They made it to define basic human rights. If Israel suddenly stopped following another one of these human rights, would the UN become that much more "anti-semitic"?
