Is West loop the trail side? I think it's close to 2.5 miles. I did it once and got lost and was like "never again!"
Plus I run the lake at odd times sometimes, like early in the morning or when it's 100 outside at 3pm or when it's only 30 degrees outside and I know the paved side so well I feel more comfortable, especially when I'm out there on the days when no one is really out there. 9/10/2011 4:35:12 PM |

and they know how they say get up and go read or watch tv or something until you get tired? well ill do that-all night.
its quite frustrating. 9/10/2011 6:17:15 PM |

Did the 2 mile lake trail at Bond, stopped to get water when I finished the loop and that was a mistake. I was done as soon as I stopped. Made it in 19 minutes though which isn't bad for that terrain.

Do you experience a lot of stress, Joie? Stress keeps me up at night sometimes, even when I run 9 miles and take melatonin with wine.
If it's stressful thoughts that keep you up at night, you have to get to the root of the stress and figure out how to dilute it. 9/11/2011 10:23:53 AM |

ON white chocolate is my favorite and doesn't have the super chemical-ish taste that some have. I think I am going to pick up a pack of banana pudding from my gym because they say if you like pudding it's amazing. I forget what brand that is though. 9/12/2011 9:17:03 AM |

any websites/apps out there that will allow me to set some key parameters (target calories, fat, carbs, protein, etc) and select my food dislikes (hate mayo) and then click a magic button to generate a menu that tells me EXACTLY what to eat for every meal?

I don't know if I have mentioned it before but I eat
and it does not affect my blood sugars hardly at all. My nutritionist does not even know how it does it. Was wondering if anyone would possibly know anything about their protective carbs? I would recommend it for low glycemic index but I honestly can't until I figure out how it does not affect my blood sugar like regular pasta. 9/12/2011 8:12:53 PM |

I like the dreamfields pasta, and I can definitely tell it affects me differently than normal pasta. I don't get the carbohydrate insulin spike from it like normal pasta, and it tends to keep me fuller for longer.
Punchmonk, the one thing you need to be aware of with Dreamfields is that cooking the pasta under acidic conditions will undo the low-glycemic structure of the food. If you bake a lasagna or baked spaghetti, the acidity of the tomato based sauce is enough to unravel the pasta carbohydrate chains and cause your blood sugar levels to spike. I'm guessing that storing a pasta salad with a vinegairette dressing would have the same effect. 9/12/2011 9:51:18 PM |

Do y'all snack late at night? I sometime snack or pistachios at 11 pm or midnight. Not sure what else is okay to eat that late. 9/12/2011 11:50:55 PM |

I don't normally snack at night but being pregnant with diabetes, I have to have a hefty 20-30 carb snack just to make sure I don't go into shock during the night because of a diabetic low. Ha...so that is when I can eat cereal (staying carb power).

Joie, I forgot to respond to this the other day. Something that is quite ludicrous that has worked a couple of times for me is clear your mind, stand right beside your bed and just look at it. Do nothing but look at your bed, don't even move. I am not joking. It might not work but maybe it will. 9/12/2011 11:57:05 PM |

I get horrible insomnia often. I found that taking ZMA, melatonin, and diphenydramine will help me get to sleep, but unfortunately I usually wait until I need to be up in 6 hours before I admit that I'm having trouble sleeping and take something. I spend a few hours the next morning in zombie mode when I do that. 9/13/2011 12:17:42 AM |

i read somewhere a while back that a lot of times when you get the "hungry sensations" late at night, it's really your body telling you that it's sleepy and you need to go to sleep. i can't remember the last time i ate after 8pm. i've been really good about not eating after dinner.
ps - i don't know if i'm fighting a bit of a stomach bug or if it was the 8000 spoonfuls of nutella i ate last night before dinner but i have been feel woozy and a bit dizzy since last night. no stomach ache and no actual sickness. (no i'm not preggosaurus)9/13/2011 7:38:02 AM |

FWIW, I recently upgraded my pillow and I've been sleeping through the night consistently. Also, I fall asleep much faster.
Joie and Eleusis, do you guys sleep in pitch blackness? Or is there light from the TV, LEDs, etc.? It makes a big difference. I got black out shades and it's awesome. 9/13/2011 9:56:56 AM |

I usually do force myself to go to sleep when I'm hungry late at night. But I sometimes wake up with severe hunger pangs around 2 am. So I make myself go back to sleep and then I'm really out of it in the morning and I feel awful. I usually wake up every night around 2 or 3 am. Maybe my blood sugar is too low? The last couple of times I had basic tests run, my fasting blood sugar was below 50. The nurse said that was a bit low, but since my other vitals were fine, it was nothing to worry about.
Also, maybe the nutella affected your blood sugar? If it's not something you're used to eating, it could have caused a sugar spike.9/13/2011 10:09:17 AM |
