Anyone used any alternations on their dress BESIDES Olga? I have an appointment with her in August to add bra cups and add a bustle to my dress (which I have in hand now), but she's scheduled to be done on August 20. Wedding is September 2nd, and that just makes me nervous, so close to the date.

August 20th is almost two full weeks before the wedding. That doesn't seem too bad to me. If she was scheduled to be done by the 30th then I'd be nervous.

^^^ I guess so. I guess I'm just nervous cause she was like "Oh, just drop it off the 6th. Pick it up the 20th." And my first thought was literally just plopping it down, and then how the hell is she gonna know how its supposed to go.. and.. I'm in a worry phase right now.

^ Ah! Your wife's dress was my 2nd choice - I loved it, and she looks beautiful!

Not quite sure honestly, my wife handled all the negotiations with that. You can ask Joie as well, they did her video.

I would seriously not worry. I know it's close, but Olga is amazing. Even if there's something that needs to be tweaked on the 20th when you go pick it up, she'll have it to you in plenty of time (and steamed) for the wedding. Probably have you pick it up 1-2 days after the 20th. I promise you she is not going to let you walk out the door with a dress that she's worked on with something wrong or something you're not satisfied with.

I'm 150% sure this is why she insisted on redoing the bustle on my dress. The previous alteration left puckering at the waist, and that's all I wanted fixed. When she saw how the bustle was done she insisted she do something else that would make it lighter for me to move around in, but I know the underlying reason was, "I don't want her saying 'Olga did this' and see this hideous bustle." Her name and reputation is far too well known in the area for her to have a bride leave unsatisfied.

So we have to come up with the wording for the invitations and I know I can pull from the inter webs but did y'all have to do this? We're having a friend make the invites and she wants to make sure we get everything we want out of it. I just don't even know where to begin

^^ I went to a bunch of the big invitation publisher websites (Wedding Paper Divas etc) and looked at their wording which was super helpful. But then in the end we did something completely non-traditional so it ended up being a waste of a couple of hours

my maid of honor/best friend is getting married later this year and we found a dress online that looked like it could be a good contender as a bridesmaid dress (since i will be in her wedding). it came yesterday and we're both super excited because it's definitely a-go!

What websites have you guys found for invitations? I've looked at wedding paper divas and minted.com but that's about all we've found that are reasonably priced (and nice). Are there any other good ones out there that we haven't looked at yet?

Don't know about price, but I have seen a bunch of stuff from Jennie at http://www.nanepress.com/weddings/ and it was amazing.

It's letterpress, so it's harder to see the quality in pictures.

I've gotten samples from both minted and weddingpaperdivas. Both are quality, nice stuff.

I'd have to say that I love WPD website a little better (a little easier to use), and all customizations are free right now, AND 30% your entire order? Yummy.

we also used WPD. very easy, the editing/proofing process was good, loved the quality and they were also SUPER fast. might have been the time of year that we ordered (January for a June wedding IIRC to mail out mid to end of April), but we got them ~1.5wk later. I ordered them that early expecting it to take much longer.

^pics! i love shoe posts

Defending PhD thesis April 23rd. Getting married May 5th. Start PA school June 4th. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Wish I had more time to spend wedding planning.

If not now, we would have had to wait 2 years until PA school was done. Such is life!

we still have so much to do. favors, gifts, need to book hair and makeup, need to get my dress altered, book my bridal portraits, send out invitations (although those are final), select music, get flower girl dresses, buy hair piece (no veil), and also buy garter. there is probably more like OH WE NEED WEDDING RINGS TOO!!! and my fiance needs to get his tux.

i think we have like 100 days. FML. i need someone to come do this mess for me.

that does not make me feel better

i just ordered my hair piece and DivaBaby19 just gave me a good idear for the garter so that's pretty much taken care of. updated list:

favors, gifts, need to book hair and makeup, need to get my dress altered, book my bridal portraits, send out invitations (although those are final), select music, get flower girl dresses, buy hair piece (no veil), and also buy garter. there is probably more like OH WE NEED WEDDING RINGS TOO!!! and my fiance needs to get his tux.

flower girl dresses will be easy - i'm taking advantage of the fact that Easter is right around the corner and i'm going to buy some cute Easter dresses from Kohls or Marshalls or Target or Pennys - something inexpensive that's cute and summery. my plan is to go this weekend and get the dresses.

i need to call a family friend about the alterations because i'm using her alterations lady. it shouldn't take too long because i really just need the bottom taken up and maybe a little bit taken in at the waist. i don't really know how big the dress is going to be on me because i've lost 12 more pounds since i bought the dress and have gone down 2 more dress sizes. whoops.

I DO HAVE MY SHOES!!! so that is progress because those fuckers are on pre-order again so i was smart to order them in January. And LK, here they be in all their beautiful Jimmy Choo glory!

Sorry egyeyes, I can't find that flower, or.. whatever those gray ball things are. If you're booking with a florist, go ahead and bring that picture - I'm sure they'll know what you're talking about!

We have.. 165 days to go. Still need to ask one more bridesmaid (whoops), get the favors (I think I know what I want), order invitations (know what I want though), book a florist (had one discussion/quote, want another from someone else), book the caterer (I know, I know, just need to make the final payment really), find out about hair & makeup, and.. mm. I think do whatever other weird decorations things I've been thinking of (paper lanterns, pomanders, whatever).

So, hey, I'm not worried. lol.

^ talk to me when you have all those things and less than 100 days. we booked most of our stuff when we were around the 160 day mark so you should be okay. i was worried since we're getting married in june but it worked out okay. we pretty much got people the very last saturday they were available.

OR we can just drink our stress away together because i'm one stress level away from a major panic attack
