I can't believe the NCAA is singling out UNC for these "infractions".

Everyone has at least one asst coach/head recruiter that has a company credit card issued by their preferred sports agency.

If they are going to be so nitpicky about credit cards, bank wires, and other trivial "compensation arrangements" then they better come down on schools who arrange to have their athletes participate in workouts at NFL training facilities complete with hotel accomodations and airfare paid for by sports agents.

This whole thing just opens up a can of worms on all these gray issues where we can't expect a college coach to be able to nanny his entire program.

I mean who does the ncaa think they are judge, jury, and executioner?

I think we should let impartial observers like the head coach, athletic director, agents directly involved, and the schools honor council decide on appropriate steps to make sure this is handled appropriately.

I think an institution with the integrity of UNC is much more well equipped to make tough decisions than some whipcracking, power hungry regulatory body like the NCAA.

People have private lives

No one knows what CC someone carries, people have private lives. This was a revelation to me, I don't even know if its true or been proven.

Its clear Taylor this is an issue throughout college football and has been for many years.

Our coaching staff has talked about that many times for the years, telling our players not to get involved, don't except anything.

(Butch is bringing up UFlorida scandals, classy)

We have unbelieveably exhaustive program at UNC to educate them on NCAA rules on benefits, agents, runners, financial planners.

Sometimes you have to assume people are honest, and when they do wrong they get punished.

Hopefully this will be over in a couple of weeks?

Coaches ask players where they are going, how are they gonna get there, do they have a way home etc. We have already implemented measures to improve how we do know, sign out sheets, where are you going, what's a contact number. Its difficult to know where every kid goes all the time.

Somethings are impossible to know. Its' America (he actually said this). UNC does an exhaustive background before hiring. Our Compliance office calls NCAA and asks about coaches for prospecitve hire. (I'd love to see if UNC actually did this). (Butch is now talking about the Academic Support System, throwing them under the bus, not a fucking shred of contrition from this guy, almost bothered he even has to talk about it ((understandable)).

Jimmy V was a crook because his lack of institutional control allowed some players to sell shoes and tickets that they got for free as athletes

Butch is not a crook and is in full control, because he had no way of knowing about a tutor doing all his athletes' work for them, he had no way of knowing about Blake's past, and he had no way of knowing about the "Rude Boyz/Drug Mule/UNC DB Alumni" Sports Agency

even if the NCAA quits the investigation today, this scandal is awesome if for no other reason than it makes it incredibly clear that 95% of their fans are crazy walmarters who do not possess the critical thinking skills to make it into any university, and the other 5% of carolina fans are alums who are facepalming about the other 95%
