If we weren't overrated from the beginning, we'd probably never have been ranked higher than 20 this season. But because the media had a huge boner for the team which was only partially deserved, some in the media view us as one peg higher than a bust. Duke outperforming expectations didn't help either.

And while I think we can take both of these games, I wouldn't be shocked if we drop our home game to Duke and then lose at Maryland 4 days later, starting off conference play 2-2 and dropping out of the top 25. Pack Pride will have already started the fire Mark Gottfried threads by then.

I think the loss at OK State really helped this team. If they were going into ACC season with their heads in the clouds we would not be ready to even compete with Duke.

Not exactly sure how railing people for having irrational expectations is being sour about something. I watch as many if the games as I can. I was generally positive about the MI game, and got on with my life after OKST. I think we're pretty entertaining to watch too. The expectation stuff has to go though. In the last 33 years you could count one one hand the seasons with less than double digit losses. Y'all need the calm, not me...

Right now we are projected to go 11-7 in the ACC.

That would be a fairly disastrous result in my opinion and its why I'm starting to get nervous.

I'm not in full panic because I think we can get better, but here we are its January and we are starting conference play and it hasn't happened yet.

Just prepping you guys since that's our current projection.

I got news for you. 3 conference losses or less is being assigned a 3% chance at the moment.

4 conference losses or less is about 8%

5 is 18%.

6 is 36%.


I agree that it's POSSIBLE we just haven't been trying very hard against these teams since we know we can score on virtually every play. But we're going to have to get SIGNIFICANTLY better to live up to the expectations you guys have. We're just not a very good team at the moment.
