Ward was tending the net because he's a damn fine netminder. Same goes for when Gerber plays. We're in win-win rotation land. 11/4/2005 12:00:38 AM |

13k is horrid. was this because the game was early at 7 or do we have attendence issues. maybe they should do some kind of ticket specials to fill it up and build larger fan base
i thouht we had the best fans

Weekday games are usually around 13k. be grateful, last season a weekday game was lucky to draw 11k. As the Canes continue to do well attendance will rise. Dont froget we were the doormat of the eastern conference 2 seasons ago after a lot of people bought season tickets after the cup run, so we have to earn back some fans. 11/4/2005 12:36:30 AM |

13K on a weeknight is a great improvement over what it was before. Winning helps--I just wish the 'Canes would do a better job of marketing the team.11/4/2005 12:37:57 AM |

hi. have you ever put on ice skates?
have you ever played ice hockey?
an edge of your skate can easily get caugh on the ice, and while trynig to change your momentum its very very very very VERY VERY VERY easy to cause yourself to spill over hideosly.
the man was on ONE leg and had IT being HOOKED from behind
thats not a dive. true, he may be diver. but that was in no way a conclusive dive.

Quote : | "hi. have you ever put on ice skates?

Three or four times a week. The ice has been pretty bad for a little more than a week, so I can see the slight possibility of catching an edge, but the probability of Erik Cole diving is so much higher and the barrel roll was so slow, I don't think that's what happened.
Quote : | "thats not a dive. true, he may be diver. but that was in no way a conclusive dive." |
It wasn't a normal Cole dive, no, but he did embellish. That warrants a penalty going both ways. While some have said that it was inappropriate for Fraser to send a message at that time, it is better to send it when a game isn't hanging in the balance.
As for "he may be a diver," there's no "may be" involved. Cole has hit the deck at least twice during every home game, and he did it all through 2003-04 as well. He's a known flopper, and as such the marginal calls are going to go against him. The one good thing that comes out of this is that the Retired Players' Fund is $2,000 richer today.

^^^It wasn't just the score that made the game boring. There weren't a lot of quality scoring chances for either team. I loved hockey before the lock out and I love it now. It's not the high scoring that makes the game that much better, it's the quality scoring chances that make games great. Even if the score is 1-0 and there were a lot of quality scoring chances the game can be exciting.
^^I'm totally excited about the wins the 'Canes are getting. I am concerned with how long they can keep this up. Lavi is only playing 3 lines a lot of the time. This will be fine in the short term, but over 82 games it's going to be hard to keep up without significant fatigue. Lavi has had teams start off really strong in the past and have them not do so well later in the season. I hope this years team can keep up the good work through June!
