yeah true, the dude picked a bat up and started beating the boat

it's made from some polymer instead of fiberglass

it's supposed to be lighter than fiberglass and doesn't require any special treatmeant (no gelcoat paint)

That's HAWT... I prefer the true CC... I've never found real function in a cuddy other than storage.

I'd take (have) a CC with a head, use it for storage and still hang it over the edge.

Well done on the drum Mark.

Boats are incredibly expensive. Much more so than just retail price. My boat for instance:

Cost of boat w/ twin outboards
Electronics
Safety equipment
Fuel (can burn as much as 120 gallons per DAY at $2.70/gal)
Outboard oil ($21.95/gal about 2 1/2 gallons a day)
Cost of upkeep (this can be extremely high)
Trailer
Insurance
I have to pay both Carteret County tax as well as Atlantic Beach tax
Many other "hidden" costs

The really shitty part is that they depreciate in value much faster than cars.

My advice to anyone buying is to buy a used boat, preferably one or two years old. Just have it surveyed by a marine surveyor. The first owner will take the biggest hit in depreciation. My Kencraft was only a year old when I bought it and I saved A LOT of money compared to buying a new boat. The boat only had about 200 hours on it and was in near perfect condition.

I'm about to file a patent for a boat part

Sailed all weekend and will be racing next weekend

I saw a glimpse of a projected race schedule of next year. Starts in key west, hits the major races on the east coast to block island and back down again. holy shit...... this my interfer with other plans. priorities, priorities.

raced all weekend down in Hatteras in the sound.

we were doing about 18 knots double trapped reaching towards A mark (overstood the layline) when our port daggerboard hit something HARD. My feet came out from under me, and I flew forward still dangling from the trap line. I hit the forestay on my back and then Trey landed on top of me. We stopped racing after we righted the boat because I was having a hard time moving around. Back really sore.

Other than that the racing was great.

10-20 knots the whole weekend.

Allison told me that yall ripped the mainsail too.

[Edited on August 31, 2005 at 9:19 PM. Reason : I also saw trey capsize often at practice today. He needs to hit the treadmill.]

We didn't rip any sails this past weekend.

Trey fell through our practice sail like two weeks ago but he's supposedly sending it off to get repaired.

Was he on the club boats or the i20 flipping it? He has to train a new crew for Catfest and I can foresee many incidental capsizes with new crew

Club boats.

Allison and Derek appear to be interested. Allison couldn't stop going on about how much she liked it.

liked the regatta this weekend?

its hard to complain about sailing in hatteras all weekend.

except if you almost get sliced in half by a forestay like a cheeseslicer

Mother fuck you, you hop out there and sail all day and we'll see how you are doing. Don't talk shit, bitch. Oh yeah, crew is not responsible for capsizes usually, skipper has the tiller.
