^ But they are the two best conferences in the nation duh?!?

Fuck if the ACC tourny champ ever gets knocked out in the 1st round (Iowa/Syracuse). Granted Duke is always a #1 seed...

ok i have 28 games (29 if you count the playin, but i dont) in the books so far

8/28 (~29%) of the games so far were won by the lower seed, seems pretty high.

Jackleg,

On that note, it's been an exceptional first round so far.

UAB is gonna run kentucky down before its over. another one of my "upsets" -- but there are no upsets in 8/9 7/10 games really

there's an espn.com column about how this is the best bottom quarter of the bracket ever.

just trying to figure something out for something like average seed, but the math doesnt seem right

ok so if you get an average of the seeds remaining before the first round, its 8.5 [(1+2+3...+16)/16]

if all the top seeds won, the average before the 2nd round would be 4.5. if all the lower seeds won, the average would be 12.5. so the range is 4.5-12.5

as of now, the Minneapolis region is finished with the first round, and their average is 6
Oakland - if Kansas wins its 5.75, if Bradley wins its 6.875
Atlanta - if Texas wins its 7.125, Penn wins its 8.75
DC - 2 games left, dont wanna fuck with it

i dont even know what im trying to figure out, someone tell me. i know higher average means more upsets

figuring out the chances and upset potential of one bracket over another perhaps?

or the chances that an upset will happen in that bracket

except its not really chances, cause its not really a statistic, you can't use it to predict anything

what's the time on the Boston College game tomorrow (today)

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/ncaa/men/2006/ncaa_tourney/brackets/

repost of first round results

also it is interesting that no teams scored 100 points at all in the first round

Because the 1st Saturday game is a national broadcast. It's always got someone with national appeal, like Duke or Notre Dame or UConn

so it seems to me like this year is the first year (or at least the first year that I've noticed it) that announcers call the game before it is over

in the Duke GW game, they already called it with over 3 minutes left

now it's obvious that Duke is gonna win, but I remember in past seasons that they wouldn't call it for sure until maybe the last 20 seconds, or the last possession, or better yet, when the game is ACTUALLY over

I think it's kinda unclassy to call the game before it's over, even if it is obvious

Round 2 is my second favorite round of the tournament.

Games all day long and 90% of the teams are real (not 12-16 seeds every other game)

Roudn 3 is my favorite cause you still have games all day and there are some marquee matchups.

attendance has been really bad in the first rounds of the NCAA the last ten years or so...

THey started doing the regional shit because the sites were having so much trouble drawing fans.

Maybe they need to start doing like womens basketball and playing home games....

I think the main problem is... id love to go to NCAA tourney games in Greensboro if it didnt mean missing all the other games...

the last thing i wanna do is miss Northwesten States buzzer beater three because im stuck watching Duke-Southern (for $50 nonetheless)
