That sucks man. I've been hearing reports that they're out there if you can get out there with them.

Heading down to Wilmington for trip #2 in the new boat Sunday.

I just got back from Buxton doing some surf fishing. I caught my first old drum right near the lighthouse. It was a monster at 32" I know there a bunch bigger than that but it was the biggest drum I've ever caught. The blues are still biting and saw a couple nice speckled trout being caught.

red fish and trout should be pretty good

might snag some flounder

offshore BIG kings are biting now, and the bluefin tuna have made their way to the beach

I'll be down in AB this weekend, more for drinking and partying, not fishing though

they've been killing the huge kings at hatteras over the last week

The Tuna bite has been decent, if you can get out of the inlet. We have aborted the last 3 trips due to weather concerns.

1 lil bluefish, and 1 bushels of some awesome oysters over the weekend. The oysters were far easier to catch than the bluefish. I swear the only way to eat oysters is to pull them out of the water and cook them in the same afternoon.

Went on a Charter yesterday....My roommates family goes Tuna fishing every fall/winter. We only caught one Yellowfin but we had our limit of Bluefins. Kept two and released a whole bunch...made some great sushi this afternoon.

Caught three YFT's yesterday on an impromptu trip with some old salts that I hadn't fished with in a couple of years. Fun day but we had to work to get'em.

I can only think of one decent fish I've caught this year. It was a ~8-10 lb blue catfish that I caught on a Rat-L-Trap clone a month and a half ago. My fishing has sucked!

remember the rule about fishing with live bait in the county you reside in and not having to have a fishing license?

heres a nice one that's never happened to me before now...

just a week ago, i try to fish in the fishing ponds we have around where i work, which from what ive heard arent worth fishing unless freshly stocked.

so i throw on a rapala, and catch more leaves with each cast. then, i miss a big fish right off the bank. rips the rapala off. i think to myself "shit, i miss the only fish out here, and it takes my shit!"

so after a few feeble attempts to get the same fish with another lure, i take to a new spot. theres a lone stump sticking out that is just at the extent of how far i can cast. about 30 min after aforementioned experience, i get another hit. finally, a nice bass is jumping out of the water. i get it all the way in, and to my surprise, theres my lost rapala!

bonus when you catch a decent 3 lb bass and it returns what it took from you.

that bass must have been blond.

^haha. I've had that shit happen a lot with cuda and sharks. And it's even worse when you see them coming in for the kill and there isn't shit you can do about it.

Word. I've had king middle sections come in....no head and no tail.

I also caught a big cuda on a small bailer dolphin one time by accident...haha.

I've had a bass do that only once in my life....and it was on a lizard. Damn fish broke me off and I retied and fishing down the river a little bit and then BAM...caught him...and damn if my lizard and hook wasn't still in his mouth.

Silly fishes.

catching half-kings happens all too often to us on the pier. a guy i was fishing with this summer caught one that came in missing about 1/3 (from the tail) and still weighed over 20 lbs

Oh. In other news, on Monday I had almost lost the gaff twice.

The first time, I went to gaff a tuna and right before I stick it I just here a snap...so I'm like of shit the crimp failed or the line snapped...well the angler is like 'damn it' but I'm got the fish so I'm like its ok....I look over and the rod is in pieces.... it just shattered!

This was a double header so my old man is fighting the other fish and its coming up and everyone is like gaff it, come on...but I'm like it looks a little green but I'm like fuck it...I sink the gaff and that fish wasn't happy because it took off away from the boat when I hit it and I just did like a lacrosse throw over my head in an attempt to get it in the boat. It was a sight to see a YFT 4 feet over my head on a gaff

Wednesday I am going to take my uncle and dad out. Depending on weather it will be inshore or the Kawiah near shore reef. Neither one wants to run out to the shelf. Pussies... I hope it is nice out, the trout have been going crazy lately. I would like to hook one of them up on a big red.

That was my last offshore trip of the season. We got skunked again, but worked some really pretty water. Did manage a monster little tunny . Now its time to get the reels serviced, tackle repaired, rigs made and update the electronics on the boats. Call me in March when there is warm weather, and big mahis.

Unless there is a really hot tuna bite.
