So you cardio buffs, should I be doing more than jsut the elliptical now that I can hadnle it? Should I always increase my cardio or is it good to do 30 mins. a time and still sweat/get my heartrate up? I notice I don't get as thirsty anymore and it's easier to do but I like to be done after thirty mins. however I don't feel totally drained anymore.

well i usually eat like an apple or so about 1/2 hour before i work out, if not i can't run as hard

and as far as the cardio goes, ive been doing the "breath test"
i make sure that for at least 1/2 of my workout i'm out of breath and I wouldn't be able to hold a conversation

i've been running for 1/4 mile then walking 1/4 of a mile for about 2.5-3 miles

its been working out really good for me

i'm not sure if it is a good idea eating on a totally empty stomach. thats kinda like running your car on E. just better to put a little bit of good food in your stomach a bit before you start to work out so your body has something to work off of.

i don't think that is a good place to get energy from. i'm not an expert by any means though. but i'd think that emptied out. your body would be trying to pull energy from nothing. and you'd put bad stress on yourself.

yeah, push that cardio up to 45 minutes, kiwi, if you think you can do it. just go 5 minutes more at a time, until you're comfortable, then push it up a little bit

thats what i've done, and even as a smoker, it's helped tremendously

I wont be going back to my ways. I wont be a fast food hound. Im staying dairy and most meat free. I might go back to having grilled seafood though.

Can you get pills or somehting that'll help deal with your lactose intolerance?

Cause calcium rich dairy products are some of the most nutritious substances you can put in your mouth.

Meat isnt unhealthy either.

One of these days im going to teach you some real nutrition

That'sa good idea, Joie, with the working yourself hard for so many minutes. The elliptical measures my heartrate and it gets up there for a steady amount of time but I'm not worn out afterwards. That's why I've been going to Jacob's ladder afterwards. I guess I can start doing that although I hate that damn thing.

With the warm weather today I got a chance to wear "less" clothing, meaning I wasn't hiding behind a huge sweatshirt. I see a difference. Yay! Motivation back in gear!

"El borracho, how did you lose the weight? How long were you at the gym, what type of exercises and how often a week? What did your diet consist of? Did you hit lots of plateaus where your weight would stay the same, how'd you stay motivated? Any other forms of advice would be nifty too.

I kinda wanna lose 50 by June 30th. "

mirror kept my ass motivated. mostly i just started by walking a mile around my neighboorhood as fast as possible, moved up to running 5 miles in about 4- 5 months. i never hit any plateaus. i just keep dropping weight. i just like to make sure i have enough music to make me feel sexy when i'm running, cause i know at the end, i will be sexy. i dunno. i don't diet, i eat what i want, but portion sizes are much smaller.

no prob. i lost about 100 lbs all together. it's easy to keep off once you've done it too. i'm 5'11" 135 and i think i'm pretty much good here. maybe shave off anouther 5 to 10, but no more than that.

Do you jsut constantly exercise now to keep it off or what? I wonder if it's even possible for me to lose that much weight by July but I know once the warmer months come I'll drop weight naturally because I don't like eating as much or something happens. Happens every spring, I'm jsut trying to get a head start.

no. i mean, i'm pretty lax about working out now. i try to do it about 3-4 times a week. that's about as good as i can be. basically manage what you put in your mouth food wise and you'll be golden on keeping the weight off.

you can buy dairy enzyme pills, but most people don't take them correctly. you need to take them about a half hour before you eat dairy foods, but most people take them with dairy products, and by that point it's a little late.

I have gotten on a seafood kick lately, and today I spent $150 mostly on seafood and salad ingredients.

Yeah clothes are looking better and I have dropped one pant size in new clothes but old clothes still don't fit right. Some do, some don't. It's confusing and deceitful. I'm just gonna work harder.

So these new pants I bought, which are a size smaller, are getting baggy. Sweet!

I think my problem is I don't eat before I go, maybe I should grab a granola bar. That way I have something to puke up when I get upset!

don't do that. people usually get nausea during their workout from either low blood sugar levels or from motion sickness. if you eat something low in calories but high in carbs and then start working out, your blood sugar will plummet and it will make the situation worse. Also, you want to be burning fat during your workout - not the food you just ate.

are you looking at your feet when doing cardio? that can cause motion sickness.

I drink throughout the workout. I don't stare at my feet. I just notice that I get faint after doing something that begins to hurt and really makes me struggle. If I move too quick I get lightheaded, dizzy, faint. I'm constantly drinking though, however my need for water has gone down. I don't know if the ventilation in the building is poor or what but it sucks, I want to work my ass off not worry about staying conscious.

Recommendations?

go buy a scale, i want to see your body fat percentage. if you're eating that little amount of calories, then you're losing a lot of muscle regardless if you realize it or not. Don't say "well i can still lift the same" because you're normally not using your full potential on a day to day basis. Also don't tell me it looks the same. Exactly how many calories would you say you take in a day blasphemore? post some pics, i want to see some before and after. don't just be all talk, thats blasphemy!

seriously, b
