Denny said (paraphrased) "I did everything I could to win this race for VT...I don't know what the speeding thing was all about, I went the same speed each time, I guess that was part of this week's entertainment

"

I thought Denny said that "he was part of this week's entertainment"

meaning that him going from 30 to 2 was one of the stories of the day

I think Rockingham should be brought back into the picture. (Its a good thing that NC got the Hall of Fame.) I think NASCAR is just advancing with the vehicle technology. If it wasn't mandated, there's no telling what kind of modifications they would do to win. I think the CoT is good and all, but I am certainly glad its not going to be ran at every track and every race. In order for NASCAR to be in the future, it has got to advance and keep up with the times. Sure, nostalgia is good; but its not practical to keep things the same all the time.

No one is suggesting that the cars shouldn't roll with the advancements in technology, specifically in safety...but that has nothing to do with running at shitty tracks in the desert or drivers with the personality of a wet mop who are afraid to say a single word about another driver, let alone throw a punch when they get wronged.

On top of that, I wouldn't mind if they allowed a bunch of crazy shit like they did in the old days; the multicar teams would win more initially, but some crazy Smokey Yunick-like fucker would find ingenious and hilarious ways to cheat, and it would be great.

NASCAR lost its soul a long time ago, but it still pisses me off.

(Yes, I know Ontario and Riverside were in the desert, but they were decent tracks.)

I think I'd rather look like I had the personality of a wet mop rather than pay a $20,000 fine for fighting (or throwing a helmet at) another driver. And if giving the finger costs $10,000...I think I'd watch that too. Especially if I was a driver that didn't win the bug bucks much. The only ones who wouldn't care about a fine this year would be the ones who have won the races...and we know they're more controlled than to be red-necking the sport up with jacking someone up.

Ummm...have you missed all the crap talking between Montoya and Stewart? Thats about as good as it gets as far as talking crap about another driver. Well, Gordon and Stewart, and Johnson and Stewart also are pretty hot arguments.

i'd rather have someone with no personality than a whiny little bitch like stewart

the man can drive, but he whines like a fucking bitch all the time

someone needs to tell him its not cute anymore to get mad and pout on camera

haha i hate stewart on the track, but he is one of my favorite nascar personalities... he keeps it interesting, brings in alot of new fans (I have alot of friends over the years who thought they hated nascar, but grew to love it on the back of tony stewart)

He only bitches when he's losing. I used to have respect for him...but not after his little stunt last year (or was it 2 years ago).
He was complaining about how dangerous it was to ump and rub at 200 mph. Aggressive driving he said. What did he do the next race? Wrecked a guy by "aggressive driving" and rubbed him right into the wall, put him out of the race.
Its just that he was such a whiner about it since he was pushed into the wall, he was a big advocate before the race to reducing aggressive driving induced wrecks, and then he does what he was calling people out on.

Then, we didnt hear a peep once he was winning the title.

Punching a guy in the face when he deserves it is worth $20,000.

NASCAR is run by a bunch of pussies these days.

they will never ban coolers, that would cut tickets sales by a huge amount.

I'm not going, but I wish they'd stop being pansies and run anything under a mile in the rain. Put some treaded tires on and go racin'.

^^^ That's absolute bullshit. They can't go as fast as when it's dry, of course, but the race will be every bit as exciting. Sure, the cars are heavy pigs, but Trans Am ran in the rain back in its heydey, and they didn't even have the kind of downforce that stock cars do now.

trans am also wasnt running in an oval

they say the cars will run fine on a road course in the rain, much like trans am cars did, but in an oval on banking, they'd have to slow down next to nothing

Well, I guess I typed "anything less than a mile" without really thinking. Obviously you can't run Bristol in the rain. Richmond, Martinsville, the road courses, and probably NHIS would all work (hell, they should run the road course at NHIS anyway to avoid the severe boredom of millions of people).

If I don't have a ticket, I will throw the fit of a 5 year old. I usually get to go, and since it is on Saturday, I should get to go. I can't do the 600 due to camp.

"Speculation is that Earnhardt will announce his 2008 plans tomorrow. SIRIUS Satellite Radio is reporting that Earnhardt and his current Dale Earnhardt, Inc. teammate Martin Truex, Jr. will both campaign JR Motorsports cars in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series next year, with Hendrick Motorsports supplying engines."

Thankfully, this means I won't have to put up with the possibility of Junior winning a championship in the next five years. I'm thinking about throwing a party. Thank you Junior, you made my week.

I cant believe Jr is going to leave DEI to go to his own JRMotorsports

if he EVER left I thought he would go to RCR and Childress would roll out the black #3 ride

that would be awesome, but now, Jr and DEI are both done

this will eventually be looked back on as a bad day for nascar i think

good luck to junior, gotta pull for the few North Carolina guys we have left

^ since i've been here, i've noticed raleigh tv stations choose for the most part not to associate with nascar coverage as much as charlotte does - guess it's part of that same old stupid one-way 'rivalry' raleigh chooses to have with charlotte... i wish it'd get more airtime, especially in situations like this

V well good

some "NASCAR Expert" who was on the 6am-10am morning show in Charlotte today was saying he thought he was calling a press conference just to announce he'll be staying with DEI...a la Brett Favre calling press conferences to announce that he is NOT retiring

Last thing I saw last night said sources were indicating he would form his own team and actually bring Martin Truex Jr. with him(not sure why).

I also heard they offered him majority ownership of DEI, and I don't understand why he would turn that down.

He's a hot commodity, don't see why any team wouldn't want him. I just don't know what I'd do if he joined the Hendrick army, I would be pretty pissed, lol.
