Way back in the day, my father was listening to a State game that Packer was announcing/commentating. The power at Reynolds went out, and play was not able to continue. Billy Packer gave an off-the-cuff, glowing talk on the history of NC State basketball for 45 minutes that touched on pretty much everything. Unless they were inappropriately obsessed with State ball, every fan listening got a serious education that day. Packer respected and admired the program and the tradition and the history. He all but said he preferred the history of State to other schools.

Perhaps he's changed since then. If anything, I think he's jaded (the people who said he's a dick to everybody are the most right). I believe some commentators are bothered by State and other schools for not challenging the big dogs. They really do want us to win, but they also want to see us actually up there so they can have something new to talk about.

One thing I hated in the 1st half is that we didn't follow our shot.
