I'm in 12th of 12 in TWW league. Wow... but I have started to get some talent and now will pay attention to it more now that I'm done with classes for a few weeks. I wasted 4 of Oliver Perez's good starts because I didn't have him started...

I got Hawpe off of waivers, got Slowey and Bailey now instead of streaming mediocre pitchers and hopefully my big guns (A-Rod and Delgado are close to breaking out).

Oh and if Bill Hall can play like Bill Hall I like that Olsen-Hall deal. I was surprised you made it Boobs_ considering Olsen has been pretty bad this year..

well basically i needed to get rid of an offensive player. So i decided to get rid of the one who plays 3 out of every 4 games (by manager choice).

I ended up dropping olsen after seeing his last start, but only because hennessey became the giants closer. Olsen could turn it around, but regardless i was done waiting on bill hall, who i had picked up off of waivers from some other guy

i probably should have put this up yesterday (before 3:00am eastern when yahoo days switch) but you can play Jason Schmidt today (assuming somebody dropped him at some point when they put him on the 15-day disabled list on April 15 (roughly 45 days ago)...and then put him on the DL and pick up maybe Paul Byrd or Aaron Cook for Wednesday

what do you guys think of this trade?

I would give up:
Victor Martinez

I would get:
Jason Varitek
Francisco Rodriguez

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger

Yahoo! question:

I picked up Jason Schmidt the other day since after about 45 days he was finally getting off the DL...I played him a couple nights ago and he had like a 1-hit 6 inning shutout performance although the Dodgers ended up losing the game 1-0...anyway I played him for that game but he still had the 'DL' icon next to his name...I then put him back in the 'DL' roster spot and was able to pick up an additional player...today though I noticed that the 'DL' icon was gone from beside his name but I still currently have him in my DL spot.

My question is this:

Will Yahoo! tell me tomorrow or something that I need to drop a player and will it kick him out of the DL spot to my bench? Or should I be able to leave him on there until his next start, and then have to drop somebody?

you can leave him there as long as you want, but once you move him the DL spot will be gone. also, you aren't allowed to add players until you move him from that spot

i just traded abreu and oliver perez for jason bay and jered weaver. good trade? i've got pitching but my offense sucks

is it just me or does starting pitching just suck overall this year? maybe someone mentioned it already, but aside from dan haren and jake peavy, i wouldn't really feel comfortable starting anyone based on name alone. just seems like there's no consistency, or maybe its just my team that's doing that

Pick 3 to start this week:

Bailey vs. ANA
Andrew Miller @ PHI
Gagne
Lidge
Valverde

I'm first in saves and in need of wins, era, whip but do I go with the phenoms against tough matchups in hitters' parks or do I start my closers?

A guy offered me Chase Utley for Josh Beckett.

I don't want to trade Beckett because he's pitching well. My other 2Bs are Cano and M. Giles. My starting pitching staff includes Halladay, Schilling, Hudson, Willis, Penny, Carmona, and Livan Hernandez. Do I make this deal?

depends on your offense. you've gotta be careful with beckett because he's been injury plagued. it looks like you've got decent pitching but crappy 2nd base play. tough call

I would take that trade...Utley is a first rounder...Beckett, even pitching the way he is right now, is still not a first rounder...you're trading at the top of his performance

1 Outfield position for the week:

Josh Willingham, Griffey Jr., or Franceour?

..I had Willingham in last week, but Griffey has been swinging the bat real well lately

^Man, real tough choice b/c they are both playing good teams during the week, but bad teams near the end of the week. Willingham (vs. CLE, @ KC) & Griffey (vs. LAA, vs. TEX). I'm not sure who you start, but I don't think you'll lose either way. Personally, I'd pick Willingham.

Whom do I start at 2B next week, Weeks or O Dogg or Jose Lopez?

Also, someone offered me David Ortiz for Carlos Lee and Trevor Hoffman. Do I take it? I did pick up an extra closer in Lidge this week. I'm seriously thinking about it.

Should I start Kaz Matsui in place of Kelly Johnson for this coming week?
... Matsui has been on a tear in June and Johnson has fallen off pace somewhat.. and Johnson is also usually benched against Left Handers

-Braves have 3 at home against the BoSox and 3 at home against the Tigers
-Rockies have 3 at home against the Yanks and 3 at Toronto

Start O-Dogg.

^Start Kaz Matsui. Colorado is scoring a lot of runs recently.

How about this trade:

I give up Carl Crawford
I get Danny Haren and choice of Kenny Lofton, Barry Bonds, or Nick Markakis

It's a 5x5 roto league and I am in DIRE need of the power pitching (K's, W's) as well as power hitting (HR, RBI). I'm not too bad on steals even when giving up Crawford, so I don't really care about Lofton even though he's the more valuable roto player of the choices.

Normally I wouldn't be thrilled with the trade, but I am horrendous thus far and something needs to be done. Bonds has a couple homers in the last week so I'm thinking he will probably be good for at least 15-20 more this season, if not more.

What do you think?

What do you guys think of this deal. I trade Miguel Tejada and get Travis Hafner straight up. I have Peralta who can play SS and Brendan Harris is still a FA. Tejada has been a huge bust and Hafner is struggling, but Tejada typically is a better 1st half player than 2nd so am I really suspect that he'll even hit 20 HRs this year.

My other 1B are Dmitri Young (been riding his hot bat the past few weeks), Giambi (only still on my roster because he is in a DL spot), and I recently picked up Kotchman since he has been tearing it up. We have two UTIL spots as well so I am not concerned about having too many 1Bs.

what do you guys think about this trade:

I give up:

David Ortiz
Michael Young
Brandon Webb

I get:

Prince Fielder
Carlos Guillen
Orlando Hernandez

If the gap between Webb and El Duque wasnt so great I'd go for it, I'm thinking about countering to get either Scott Kazmir or Cole Hamels instead of Hernandez

i think probably the difference is made up between ortiz and fielder. fielder has twice as many homers as ortiz, so he probably won't go for much else. might as well try though

Why would you still even have Brad Lidge? His bi-weekly horrible appearance when he gives up 5 runs and fucks up your ERA and WHIP more than outweighs anything positive he might do. Plus he plays for the Astros who play in a slow pitch softball stadium.

you know what pisses me off more than anything? when i have a pitcher going, doing really well, and there's a rain delay. they never come back out, so i don't get a win or anything. this has happened twice in the past week with beckett and hamels. FUCKING RAIN

which of my really strong OF group would you trade?

M. Ramirez
C. Lee
A. Soriano
H. Pence
C. Hart
S. Victorino

I need to find a closer

I may trade pence just because I hate having 2 players from the same team.

Is it really time to cut the cord on Andruw Jones? I mean, he's struggling big time. He's at the Mendoza line for Christ's sakes. Oh yeah, if someone dropped Tim Hudson, should I pick him up for future games or just let someone else get him?

^^, I'd hold off on trading Pence, unless you were to do something today.

Dude had 4 hits, a homer, and scored 4 runs last night. He has been really productive so far this season.

^Did that. Well, Hudson is going through waivers, but since I have a low waiver number (I think it's 4 or 5), I should get him in my first league. I did drop Andruw Jones in favor of Hunter Pence in my fourth league, and I also got rid of Julio Lugo and replaced him with Corey Hart. Now, I got Youkilis playing 3B everyday along with Tulowitzki playing SS everyday, and my outfield of Guerrero, Matthews Jr., Pence, Hart, and Bonds on the bench.

so whats the verdict on Lance Berkman? I've been sitting on him as he struggled early in the year with a ~.250 batting average...now he's hit a few homers in the last few games (on my bench) but he seems to be getting it together...is he worth playing at 1B over Youkilis or Casey Blake? Pitcher matchups make me lean one way or another day-to-day but what do yall think about Berkman?
