One position is full-time with benefits (medical/dental) the others are part time. This is a relatively easy and painless job that lets you be outside and around the game. It also allows for access to the golf course pretty much whenever we r not busy (weekdays usually, late on weekends in the summer). PM me and let me know if you are interested or have any questions." |
this shit still available? I'd totally do that if it paid right (the full time one anyway).
I loved working at cypress landing back home. I knocked like 10 strokes off my game working there.3/27/2008 11:00:02 AM |

i played like shit today- i felt like i was wound around a damn pole
it wasn't until i had 5 beers and i gave up on the score until i started making contact- and this is the first game since i had my PR game at eagle ridge (which i had beat my previous PR by 18 pts)
a lil frustrated, but I'm looking forward to watchin the long drive contest on sunday out at ER 3/28/2008 12:27:56 AM |

so my dad is coming to town on thursday and should be here around noon and wants to play... where should I take him? I was thinking either eagle ridge or crooked creek. He's played his hole life and is alot better than me, and short of one career round, i've never done well at knights play, but i think it's a pretty darn good public course
any other suggestions? 4/27/2008 2:59:32 PM |
MyFilosofy All American 628 Posts user info edit post |
Too bad that wasn't intentional or that would've been well played, sir.
Take him to Eagle Ridge. With the GPS, the course layout and the level of upkeep - I say it's the best public course in the area. I know others would disagree, but that's just what I think. You'll also touch every club in the bag...unlike Knight's Play (I have a serious disdain for that goat tract). Take your student ID and get the student rate too - or look on http://www.golfnow.com for good rates...unless he's paying, then fuck it - dad's got dough.4/27/2008 3:18:07 PM |

knights play has/had some pretty good clubs in the 50% off bin.
2 Sumo nike drivers. square heads. one is 9.5 , the other is 10.5
$200 each i think. i think the 9.5 was a demo (its been hit, but still in darn good cond.) and the 10.5 is still in the wrapper 4/28/2008 11:04:33 PM |

how difficult is it to regrip clubs? i've never done it before, and just bought a used set of x-18s. a few of the grips need to be replaced. is it worth it to just take it to a proshop? from the google search, you just take the old ones off, put solvent inside the grip and on the shaft and put the new grip on. is it really this "easy"? 5/5/2008 11:20:08 PM |
AC Slater All American 9276 Posts user info edit post |
^ yea it is pretty easy but you will probably mess up the first few times until you get the hang of it.
YOu have to be pretty quick when you pour the solvent(Lighter fluid works well) on the double sided tape. Slide the bitch on quick and get it lined up correctly and voila. Let set overnight and you're good to go.
edit: If you want fatter grips put 2 or 3 wraps of the tape on instead of just one.

i'm looking for a cheap golf cart. any courses selling? prefer GAS but open to electric as well.
also, is it legal to go fishing in the ponds on golf courses? maybe if i pay 5 bucks to the starter guy, cart guy, or something? i need a cart too for carrying my poles and stuff. 5/6/2008 1:51:53 AM |

i guess it depends on how private the course is. the course my parents live on is a private course. but i see people fishing like every day.
north ridge country club. there is a pond between haymarket ln and hunting ridge rd. lots folks fish there 5/6/2008 6:47:17 AM |

Why does everyone recommend Eagle Ridge? Is it the price? The course management there is piss poor. You can't play 9 holes in 3 hours b/c there are so many slow hacks out there with 8 minute tee times between them.

^ a used one, no need paying a bunch if you dont know if you like it. I prefer Ping and Calloway drivers. I dont care for Titleist and Taylor Made drivers Thats my preference, as I hae owned a few of each. Go to Golf Galaxy or Golfsmith and hit a few and see what you like. Pay attention to the shaft flex. 5/14/2008 3:24:15 PM |

shit...i wish i could hit it 300+ over 25% of the time
but hotdamn- that was impressive... now a quarter swing wedge away on a 400+ hole after the drive 5/22/2008 3:35:34 PM |

went to the Preserve yesterday and only paid $4 to play 18
this place is the nicest place I've been to in the Raleigh area (better than Eagle Ridge I thought). I definitely recommend going but I think the green fees are ~$65. I wouldn't pay that much to play if I didn't get to play for dirt cheap.
my coworker and I are substitutes in our company's golf league so we didn't have to pay for the first 9. League members and subs only have to pay $4 if they want to play another 9.

I love the preserve, but just about everytime ive called this year to play there, they are always hosting tournaments, even on weekdays. Its almost annoying that you can never play that course when you want to. Its still one of my favorites though... 5/24/2008 10:22:51 PM |

played for the first time this season in a captains choice tournament at Skybrook GC here in charlotte. I have been doing really well at the range and it carried over to this as a vast majority of the shots used were mine. My first drive of the day was a beeline down the center of the fairway leaving a gap wedge to the pin. My flatstick on the other hand needs a little work. I was reading the lines great, just seemed to be pushing a little too much. Our team shot a 66 to win 2nd place. 6/19/2008 11:32:25 AM |

I played Olde Liberty in Franklin county this past weekend. Greens were great, but the course was very blah. Also that course needs water really bad as the fairways are rock hard with some missing parts. But it is full grown at 7,200 yards and a 470 par 4.
But while I was out there drove around the new private development Hazentree, HOLY SHIT. Not a house out there for less then a million. 6/24/2008 9:57:50 AM |

so i guess it is worth it. ~20min drive i think 6/24/2008 10:28:18 AM |
bclarke35 Veteran 211 Posts user info edit post |
^ IF you get a change to play Hazentree I would do it in a heartbeat. As for Olde Liberty that course needs 2-3 years to mature and get its fairways back. we had to play links golf because everything was so hard. putting from 10 feet in the rough because of the firmness and lack of grass. 6/24/2008 10:31:47 AM |
ballingolfer Veteran 304 Posts user info edit post |
hasentree is the toughest track in the area IMO. if you play it all the way back, the greens are anything above a 10, and theres any kind of rough, its pretty rediculous. Not to mention the inevitable 10mph wind.
Enjoy the first hole, 475 or so, uphill kinda, into the wind usually. 6/24/2008 7:26:20 PM |

SkyCaddy, Very cool, Has most courses already installed. It shows how far to clear bunkers and things like that.
As far as the green, you can move the cursor to the spot on the green to where the pin is, it will be within 2 yds, to 99% of golfers is more then accurate. 6/25/2008 1:42:23 PM |

God I suck at golf so horribly
I just don't get it
I've had lessons, I go out to the range, and yet I keep having the same problems over and over. There is nothing more frustrating that to top the ball for the 20th time at the range.
I think I may just give this up, it's really a waste of money at this point. 7/18/2008 1:02:37 PM |

played Reynolds Park in Winston Salem last week.
Shot an 87, hungover as hell.
Most importantly though, drove the green on ~13 (uphill 310 yd par 4). No bounce, just landed the green and had a 20 ft putt for eagle which lipped out and tapped in for birdie.
this is the first golf story that I have not lied about.
It was almost surreal. 7/18/2008 1:06:16 PM |
