man i don't think i ever watched that episode. But after reading some of the comments on the YouTube page the gay kid was supposed to be making fun of Joel Schumaker, who I think ruined the Batman franchise after Tim Burton left the project

"For months before the sequel to Batman Begins started filming, the internet was abuzz with rumors about who would be playing the Caped Crusader’s new nemesis: The Joker. Famous names rumored to be vying for the role included Sean Penn, Adrian Brody, Paul Bettany, Sam Rockwell, and even washout Robin Williams; but in the end, it was wild card Heath Ledger who was offered the lucrative, blockbuster part.

Though many people declared the casting choice to be a stroke of genius, some other fans of the franchise openly criticized the idea of Health Ledger as the new Joker. Specifically, many people questioned Ledger’s ability to re-invent a role that has become synonymous with Jack Nicholson following Tim Burton’s Batman."

"Ledger will make the best jocker because he had to actually act. Jack Nicholson is the same in everything he does he just had his face painted in batman :p"

"In casting Brockeback alumni Ledger, the gayification of this already heavily fruity series is complete. Don't be surprised if TDK features at least one sequence of Bruce Wayne crusing Gotham's gay bars and even soliciting a minor!!"

Quote :
"Come on... Nicholson's Joker as the BEST VILLAIN EVER!?! Yeah, when he whipped out that gun with the really long barrel, he certainly was EVIL!!!! Pee Wee Herman was about as bad as Nicholson's Joker."

Quote :
"Heath Ledger definitely has the Joker's "dark side" pegged; more like Todd McFarlane's version of Batman, this Joker is sadistic and unpredictable. Nicholson was good, but his character was still too calm and collective when it mattered; Ledger's Joker will show no remorse, indeed no insight into his madness.. "

I just can't wait until the "Date Rape Joker" action figure comes out after the movie.
That Joker looks HORRIBLE. Joker isn't supposed to be ALL dark. He's supposed to be so god damn LIGHT that it WRAPS BACK AROUND to dark.
Fuck this. They should have waited longer before tackling such a big subject.

^^ I agree lets make things more like the comics

I want to see that!!!!

The comics are very dynamic, they're constantly redefining characters/changing their pasts etc. Ra's Al Ghul was an immortal and used the Lazerus pit, that would have sucked in Batman Begins and you know it. Just sit back, shut up, and watch the movie when it comes out, have faith.

haha. classic. he's seriously about to orgasm as he's dumping out that paint. His performance as the Joker and that of Frank Gorshin as the Riddler were what made those two by far my favorite bat villains.

Ledger was going to be perfect as the joker. I hate that he died for no other reason than that.

Lets hope they keep everything the same and dont refilm his parts.

I saw this on the tv today as I was biking at the gym. Seriously bout spat out my protein shake. I really can't believe he's dead. I loved his performance in the Patriot and I still look forward to his performance in TDK. I really feel for the guy, especially his young daughter.
Without a doubt TDK is still a go. No way Warner Bros. would pull the plug on that bad boy. It really is odd how two people in this movie have died though. Shifting attention away from this one and looking ahead to the next bat flick, I wonder what will become of it? According to the most recent interview given by Nolan TDK is more about the tragic story of Harvey Dent than it is about the Joker. I really feel like he is just going to tear through the film and raise hell. Question arises, would he be in the third one? Are Nolan and the screenwriters gonna have to scrap it or redo it entirely??? Regardless, I look for this movie to deliver and I hope it shatters all the box office $ records!!!!

"At the time of his death, Ledger had just finished playing the villain The Joker in "The Dark Knight," the latest installment in the Batman series. The film is to open in July.

The role disturbed him, according to The Associated Press. He called The Joker a "psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy."

"Last week, I probably slept an average of two hours a night," Ledger told The New York Times. "I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going."

He said prescription sleeping pills didn't help, according to AP.

"It was a very great challenge for Heath," director Christopher Nolan told AP. "He's extremely original, extremely frightening, tremendously edgy. A very young character, a very anarchic presence that taps into a lot of our basic fears and panic

has anyone heard the stuff about nicholson's reaction

Quote :
"I warned him"

there is a lot of speculation about playing the joker and how it wore on nicholson and ledger mentally and drove them into depression.

^hints at it too.

Quote :
"Perhaps the strangest celebrity reaction has come from Jack Nicholson. When photographers broke the news of Ledger's death to the veteran actor -- who also played The Joker -- in London last night, Nicholson simply said, "I warned him." "

no disrespect to nicholson, man's a fine actor and played an awesome joker (not to mention i thought batman >> batman begins, and probably will think the same about the dark knight), but this joker is significantly more dark that nicholson's was.
