NBC is doing flex scheduling this year. They have a list of games for each date and when it gets closer to the day will choose one to air. We didn't get any games as even an option.

Did you go to any Wings games last year? The number of empty seats there even for a lot of sold out games was pathetic.

This happens to the vast majority of NHL teams.

Oh, and all the weekend games I went to the place was quite full.

I don't want to turn this into some kind of anti-Wings bashing or something (I was a Wings fan for a long time and they got me into hockey but you won't see me admit that much around here ) but the Joe has been notorious in recent years for having tons of empty seats in the lower bowls where corporations have bought up tickets and don't use them.

i don't know what your talking about, there was the two or three i mentioned that had a few empty seats, but for the most part all of them were pretty close to full or completely full

i went to every single (maybe minus one or two) weekend game, and the majority of the home games, probably around 32-35 of them

we have a late arriving crowd, that is well documented, but on the weekends they do show up

I went to a lot of games in the middle of the week, and yeah, the attendance wasn't great, but all the weekend games I went to were almost full

EEEEeeeeehhhhhhhhhh

I like Matt Cullen. He loved playing here and has already been quoted as saying he feels like he is coming home. He is proven in our system. Also, our forward lineup is now absolutely disgusting.

BUT.

We just took on a $2.8 million dollar salary, and more importantly, his contract is for 3 more years. I hope we aren't kicking ourselves. I don't like giving up the third round pick and Barnes was a pretty good prospect, but it's Hutchinson that probably worries me the most. Now, I know what you are thinking. Hutchinson? He is awful in his own end and shouldn't have to play a single game this season. Maybe true, but he was the only defenseman on the roster other than Kaberle who can quarterback the powerplay, and we are now leaning on a pretty slim defensive core that includes fragile vets like Hedican and Wesley.

This COULD mean that a trade is still in the works for a defenseman. Cole for Ohlund seems to be a popular rumor. Having Cullen back would make that work better, because Hamilton could step back up to the third line. The lines at this moment:

Stillman Staal Cole
Whitney Brindy Williams
Ladd Cullen Walker
Adams Hamilton LaRose
EXTRA: Letowski

Gleason Wallin
Kaberle Commodore
Hedican Wesley
EXTRA: Seidenberg

It's way too much money, but I can't argue too much because Cullen is such a good fit. He can also play the PP point, which solves an issue that remained with losing Hutchinson.

^^While it is true Hutch was pretty good on the point on the PP, Cullen and Hamilton also are pretty solid when playing up top.

^Try Atlantic Spa and Billiards on Glenwood Avenue. I got my Billiard table and lights from them. They should be able to get it, no idea on cost or anything.

Love Cullen during the shootouts, glad he's back.

Cullen's salary isnt that big of a deal becuase after this upcoming season, we wont have to pay hedican's ~2.6mil salary. For jr to go after cullen means karmanos gave it the o.k. and the budget is all according to him.

Yeah we won't have to pay Hedican's salary, but we will have to deal with Andrew Ladd, Cory Stillman, Ray Whitney, Eric Staal, Erik Cole, Scott Walker, Mike Commodore, and Tim Gleason, who will all have their contracts expire during that time. It's not the salary that gets me as much as the 3 years.

Ain't no party like a Staal party

http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/story/648918.html

Quote :
"Carolina Hurricanes center Eric Staal was one of 14 people arrested in Cook County, Minn., early Monday morning and charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing the legal process. One of his three younger brothers was also arrested.
Staal's agent, Rick Curran, said today that the group was gathered at the Lutsen Resort and Sea Villas in Lutsen, Minn., for Staal's bachelor party and he expected the misdemeanor charges to be reduced or dismissed. Staal, who will be married in August, could not be immediately reached for comment today.

According to a statement released by the Cook County Sheriff's office, after the Sheriff's office received complaints about "screaming, yelling and playing loud music," the group of about 20 was warned "multiple times" before it was ordered to leave the resort by Sheriff's deputies, a Minnesota State Patrol trooper and a U.S. Border Patrol agent at 3 a.m. Monday.

"After leaving the property, the group gathered on Highway 61 and began harassing passing motorists," the Sheriff's office said, at which point 14 members of the group were arrested at approximately 4 a.m.

"I have no doubt there were probably a couple kids lipping off or something like that," Curran said. "Frankly, that goes with the territory. You get that many a group of kids together, somebody is going to say something stupid."

In addition to Staal, 22, his younger brother Jordan, 18, and a number of his cousins were arrested as well. Jordan Staal, who just finished his rookie year with the Pittsburgh Penguins, was also charged with consumption of alcohol while under 21 years of age."

In addition to Staal, 22, his younger brother Jordan, 18, and a number of his cousins were arrested as well. Jordan Staal, who just finished his rookie year with the Pittsburgh Penguins, was also charged with consumption of alcohol while under 21 years of age.

Lutsen is about two hours from the Staals' hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Earlier this month, the Staal brothers were honored there with a plaque outside the arena where they grew up playing -- after dismissing suggestions the arena be renamed in their honor.

Eric Staal, 22, completed his third season with the Hurricanes this spring. At $4.5 million per season, he is the team's highest-paid player.

With 201 points in 245 career games, he's on pace to crack the franchise's all-time top 10 during the 2009-2010 season, which would be his sixth in the league. He led the NHL in postseason scoring with 28 points when the Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup in 2006.

"Unless there's some information I don't have beyond the limited amount I do have, I don't believe there's anything the club will do," Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford said. "If there's more information as time goes on, we'll certainly follow it along as to the seriousness of the matter. If it is what I've been told it is, I don't see it being an issue."

Staff writer Luke DeCock can be reached at (919) 829-8947 or luke.decock@newsobserver.com."
