Amare would have been suspended if not for the coach... he was all about leaving some bench...

I don't think he will be suspended, but probably fined.

I don't think he intended to injure him, he was trying to foul and got carried away.

Suspended for what?

It was just a hard foul.

It was closer to a body check, as Nash said.

James Posey got suspended in last year's playoffs for a similar foul vs the Bulls

This is Robert Horry, his fingers have too many rings to get suspended for something like that

thinking rationally if Amare gets suspended, Horry, Raja Bella and even Steve Nash should face similar punishment. But who knows what is going to happen

Raja Bell and Steve Nash have absolutely no reason to be suspended.

Horry should probably not be suspended since the flagrant-II was called and he was ejected but it could go either way. The Spurs are deep anyway so this wouldn't be much of a loss.

Amare is at least 50/50 to be suspended for leaving the bench during the ensuing fight. Diaw could also be flagged but it looked like he walked up the sideline rather than onto the court. I'm not sure what the rule is on that matter.

Someone on the Phoenix staff is a genius for coming up with that "offensive for defensive lineup substitution" story that quickly to try to get Amare off the hook but I don't know if thats going to fly.

I know the NBA doesn't want to suspend Amare in a marquee match-up but David Stern has always been pretty consistent with this type of rule application so I wouldn't be surprised to see him stick to the book and suspend Amare for Game 5.

amare won't be suspended. he was going to the scorer's table to check in.

nash won't be suspended. he didn't do anything wrong.

raja bell won't be suspended. he didn't throw a punch and received a technical for running towards horry.

horry will be suspended. he checked nash into the scorer's table and then threw an elbow at bell's face in their skirmish. the review will get him suspended because the games are getting too rough and he'll be made an example of.

I dont know, Stern has been pretty consistent throughout his career.

I'm not saying Amare WILL be suspended but its pretty evident and inarguable that he made his way onto the court and thats been enough to warrant suspension in the past.

I hope he's not because it hurts the competitiveness of the series but the rule is there and is normally enforced.

Here's my prediction...

2-Game Suspension and Fine: Horry
1-Game Suspension and Fine: Diaw, Stoudemire
Fines: Bell

I think Horry should actually be suspended for 3 games, but I don't think that's likely to happen, especially if Raja gets off with just a fine (as I suspect he will). I don't see how the League avoids suspending Diaw and Stoudemire, especially given the likelihood of the situation happening again.

There's no way Stoudemire was going to check in--even D'Antoni seemed to back off that claim during the post-game press conference (and he seemed resigned to the idea that he'd lose some players for Game 5).

Anyway, this sucks...this series makes me miss David Robinson.

Horry warrants no suspension for the foul, it looked alot worse than it was. It was a standard blocking foul that Nash hit the hip block at the sideline, and was in proximity to the scorers table. It is going to happen with the scorers table so close to the court. The post-foul activities were worse from Stoudemire (leaving the bench) and Raja Bell (escalated things, and after all he is Raja Bell). Diaw and Horry should be in the same boat.

That having been said, I don't think they want this to impact a closeout game of the series, and all of them will be suspended one game.

The Suns aren't deep and Diaw is the only legitimate replacement for Amare (Diaw thrives playing the center position). If both of those players get suspended the Suns will likely get waxed in game 5.

If both of them get suspended then i wouldnt be surprised to see Horry get suspended as well jsut to make it a little more even but Horry is far from essential to the Spurs. He hasn't been very effective in the series and the Spurs are deep anyway.

The Suns have no depth or viable replacements for those two guys. I hope they don't get axed just because the Nashheads would use it as an excuse for another early exit from the postseason.

Having thought about it awhile, I think Horry's role compares to Ben Wallace's role in the Pacers-Pistons brawl (even though this was a much milder incident). Ben Wallace committed a hard foul, but not one that was that big a deal that would generally warrant a suspension on it's own. However, because it was the precursor to a chain of events that escalated into a bigger fight/brawl, he received a short suspension.

Viewing this in that light, I would expect a one game suspension for Horry, one or two games for Amare, one or two for Raja, and one for Diaw. I'll also note that it is comical when Raja Bell calls anyone a dirty player.

i just dont see how you can throw out 3 Suns players for a fight that occured with hardly any time left

bench clearing rule or not, some players never made it all the way to the scrum

its the playoffs, the heat of the moment times 10, the NBA cant fuck up their best series by doing multiple game suspensions...

leaving the bench only merits a one game suspension if you didnt enter any fights.

No way anyone involved gets suspended for more than one game and its possible that the whole thing just slides under the rug.

No one will get suspended.

The NBA is dying for another Boston/LA Chicago/Detroit type of hate. This is the budding of a nasty playoff rivalry that could last for the next 5 years. I feel like SA is a dirty team but you need those kinds of attitudes to create the drama that makes playoffs special. Stern would normally be the type of guy in this situation to do something drastic but I believe he has the foresight to let it be played out on the floor. Suspending bob or amare would be detrimental to either team and personally unfair to this series in general. Who is going to miss game 5 now? Not anyone that wants to see some good, edgy playoff basketball. This series is promoting the nba in ways that advertising can't. Personally, it makes me feel good to see this type of stuff because it such a departure from the regular season where players tend to pack in for the first 3 quarters of the game so much of the time.

SUNS/LAKERS - ALREADY HAD THIS SERIES IN THE 1ST ROUND, RETARD

MAVS/SPURS - Golden State/Dallas in the 1st round this year was much better than that series last year

CAVS/PISTONS - about to happen after Cleveland knocks off Jersey and Detroit finishes off Chicago

SUNS/MAVS - albeit exciting, who cares about 2 teams with no defense and no title shot

First Quote: I disagree. The Warriors-Mavs series was exciting, but it wasn't better than the Mavs-Spurs series. The Mavs and Spurs went seven (OT in Game 7), and all the games were competitive and close.

Second Quote: I care. The Mavs were 3 minutes away from getting a 3-0 series lead in the Finals last year. They can still get there. The Suns could have played well against the Heat last year in the Finals. They had beaten Miami all 3 times last year.

The Golden State Warriors can be the new Sacramento. I remember when Arco Arena was one of the loudest and toughest places to play in the NBA. Now, the Kings have slipped a little, and now Oakland has THE loudest crowd in the NBA at the Oracle Arena. If the Warriors can keep bringing in quality talent, then they can compete for a while. All the Warriors need is a big man that can pass. I think Al Harrington is more of a scorer than passer.

And I want Golden State to win but I have a feeling Utah will win

More specifically, I have a feeling Boozer will get a key offensive rebound and kick it out to Derek Fisher for a clutch 3 down the stretch

No mention of fines, but I called it:

Quote :
"NBA suspends Stoudemire, Diaw for leaving bench
Associated Press

PHOENIX -- Phoenix center Amare Stoudemire and teammate Boris Diaw were suspended Tuesday for one game for leaving the bench after Robert Horry's flagrant foul of Steve Nash in Game 4 of the Suns' Western Conference semifinal against San Antonio.

The NBA also announced Horry was suspended for two games for knocking Nash into the scorer's table with 18 seconds remaining in the Suns' 104-98 victory at San Antonio on Monday night. Phoenix's victory evened the series at 2-2.

All three players will miss Wednesday night's Game 5 in Phoenix of what has been a rough, intense showdown between two of the best teams in the NBA. Horry also will miss Friday night's Game 6 in San Antonio.

Horry was suspended for flagrantly fouling Nash and striking Raja Bell about the shoulders with a forearm, NBA executive vice president Stu Jackson said in a statement. Stoudemire and Diaw were suspended for leaving "the immediate vicinity of their bench" during the altercation. "
