Haha there is no rocking the hell out of anything on easy, you're rarely even playing the same thing as the guitar in the song, and there's no way you can get into it like you can med or hard because there are just too few notes

Give it some time, if you have a good sense of rhythm and can almost feel what you see without having to think about it, you'll look back at that post and laugh at yourself

I tried easy once again just for shits and it was nearly intolerable, got 100% of course but it was actually hard to not play to the rhythm and actually read the notes, also keeping from falling asleep or zoning out was a challenge

I just saw a commercial for GH3 and the dude was playing some Velvet Revolver... how come Velvet Revolver isn't in the actual game and why would they advertise that it is?

Isn't She Builds Quick Machines on there?

I have it on the CD I made a couple months ago of GH3 songs.

me. i'm still on easy. of course i just bought it.

i bitched about how you had to use a wiimote to use the guitar, but it seems like a great idea so far.

of course the thing was only $10 cheaper, so that was shitty.

it should have been $20, that would have been fair.

"rocking the hell out of easy" just meant that it was in fact... easy... and I agree that it's a PITA when the notes have very little to do with the song. I played it on easy with my GF last night so we could go ahead and unlock all of the songs... not saying I'm good, I lost to tom morrello on medium and thats where I'm at right now... but I'm improving...

How much more of a jump is it to have to incorporate all 5 notes(transitioning from med-hard)? going from 3-4 was fairly challenging at first... is it as big? bigger? not as bad?

I have friends that can nail expert songs 100%... so I've seen the real deal and that's what I hope to be able to do one day, but it's like anything, unless you have access to it where you can practice regularly you won't get much better... I own it now so hopefully by GH4 I'll be able to truely rock the hell out of expert...

This is the difficulty gap between the levels, at least for me.

Easy <<< Medium <<<<< Hard << Expert

i think the reason why is cause when you change over to hard you have to use the orange button. introducing a whole new string is crucial to learn, and you also have to learn how to shift your hands around for different chords and such.

that is THE biggest jump in the game. Easy to medium is cake because your hand stays in the same pos'n, you just actually start using that pinkie. When you have to shift your whole hand up and down or else reach with the other finger it becomes very easy to get you hand on the wrong four buttons and think you're playing the right thing when you're playing everything wrong. Med-Hard is worlds harder a shift than Easy-Med.

Hard->Expert adds little other than some crazy 3 note chords and harder note transitions, and of course the solos are just sheer craziness.

*sigh*

Like I said before, I'm doing one set per day to keep from getting bored with the game.

Today I loaded up the Megadome set, saw four songs I didn't even want to hear, let alone play, and turned the goddamn thing off.

GH was so much fun, and still is. GH2 was a little more refined, and that helped playability, but it was still less fun.

GH3 just isn't doing it for me. I'll be waiting impatiently for Rock Band.

Anyone want to buy my GH3?

If it weren't for that intro, I would own through the fire and flames on expert.

This two-hand tapping nonsense these people do is nuts.

Eh, I'd say they're all equally as fun. The problem with GH3 (and it's the same way in GH2) is that the first six sets are a lot of fun and then the seventh and eighth sets are nothing but speed metal bullshit that sounds terrible and is no fun to play (unless you get off on doing ridiculous numbers of 32nd notes). GH3's higher tier songs are much worse than GH2's in that regard.

Otherwise, GH3 is really good. I especially like that they made the hammer-ons and pull-offs easier to do because, while I'm not a GH master, I consider myself pretty decent (I've just five starred the first five tiers on hard and in GH2 I could do that for the first six tiers and could also get halfway through expert before I gave up). In GH2 the HO/POs seemed way too hard to do, even for someone who can do OK in the game. In GH3 it's much better.

See, I'm just the opposite. The HO/POs in GH3 are entirely too easy. You can do the entire intro to My Name is Jonas (which aren't pull-offs in the real song ) without even getting the rhythm right because the HO/POs are so forgiving. GH's hammer-ons were far too hard to do, but GH2 was perfect.

I don't care about the timing of the new HO/PO's. My beef is the fact that they're so randomly assigned throughout songs. Some notes that are much shorter and closer together than other HO/PO's won't be, and there are some other spots where making a note a HO/PO is just totally bizarre.

And I can understand wanting to make GH3 progressively a bit harder than GH2, but the guys designing the note charts really seemed to get off on the triple chords this time around, and it's made the charts for some songs--Cherub Rock on Expert being the prime example that comes to mind--completely retarded and unfun to play.

Velvet Revolver:

Boss Battles:

Tom Morello Battle
The Devil Went Down to Georgia Battle

that's fucking bullshit if you have to buy the boss battles, especially when the devil went down to georgia, considering they are already in the game, just not as a song per-say.

Who wants to make 4 passes through co-op with me? (5*ing all the songs on all the difficulties to unlock all the achievements -- not all in one sitting obviously)

I've already 5*ed the expert and hard solo careers. Bored with easy and medium. Half the gamerscore points are in co-op anyway.

I was working my way through hard in GH2 slowly when I picked up GH3, i started on easy on GH3 just to make sure i got all the money, and worked my way up through slash on medium at the moment.

I think my block is that I havent gotten comfortable with hammer on and hammer offs, i still try to strum every note, and its killing me.

Wii... $10 cheaper, free online play vs your friends

360... Widescreen resolution, good for 2 player mode, dolby digital surround sound,

If your playing by yourself, get the 360,

if you want to play friends, get the version your friends are getting, my friends all got the wii version so I got the wii version... not only can I play them online but I can take my guitar to their place and play and vice versa, likewise if you have live, and all your friends are buying for the 360 then it's 360 hands down.

The games are not cross compatible online, and they don't offer GH2 for wii so your stuck with just GH3 and once you get tired of those songs(if that's possible) then you have to wait for GH4 or dl'able songs

[Edited on November 3, 2007 at 11:08 AM. Reason : 360 is a winner on all accounts except you have to pay to play other people online.]
