what a waste. that didn't even take an hour to complete, and i didn't even skip any of the dialogue.you land on the asteroid (which looks like every other planet), go into a few buildings (same ones you've been in before, they did slightly change the interiors though), kill some weak ass enemies, go to another building and kill the bossthey shouldn't be charging for thisedit: i love mass effect so it was a fun little play through, but i was expecting something like the main missions and not a little side quest.[Edited on March 10, 2008 at 10:29 PM. I agree the main plot really takes no time to complete and the side missions really do not carry the same value as they do in some RPGs like Oblivion. That being said the cookie-cutter planets are pretty fucking annoying. I'd rather have a cool few random planets then 30 generic shit hole rocks. OH look one debris, two anomalies, and a hangout full of pirates just like the planet i was at before. That archetict must be busy building the same thing around the entire galaxy.

so its not worth the money?
3/13/2008 9:58:49 AM
I got it just because I had points alreadyOnce I get points I dont think of them like real money anymoreIts like whenever you are in another country and the money doesnt seem real, its all like get certificatesHaven't played this game in a while, so at least I'll have something new to do If I ever feel like playing it again

The one gripe I have is that I know they "extended" the play time to like 40 hours or whatever they claim because there are huge fucking mountains on each planet that you have to take that crap ass mako up. Give me a little hovercraft or jet fighter or something...good lord
3/13/2008 10:10:33 AM
yeah the mountains piss me off

Most of the time there are paths through the mountians, you can tell by looking at your map. You have to drive a more crooked path, but it usually ends up saving you time anyway.

sometimes if i start in the middle of a map and hypothetically theres a building in the NE corner, a crash in the NW corner, a probe in the SE corner and debris in the SW corner, I might go to the closest checkpoint, then if I dont have a nice flat line to the next closest, i might go back to the main ship and re-land

So, I'm bored at home and for some reason my Gears of War saves aren't being recognized by the xbox 360 even though they're on the box, so I start up Mass Effect again.Got through the part where you infiltrate the guy's office and get some alien arrested so that I can go out in the snow to Peak 15, which was quarantined. Repaired everything, killed the organic freaks that spawned, blah blah blah. Now I'm at a boss fight where I just get owned no matter what I do. I'm fighting Matriarch Bsomething and managed to use Shepard to solo the first two phases of the fight where she sends 3 man teams against you...my squad of the girl Ashley and the alien tech soldier die constantly. Now I'm on the part where she freaks out and I fight her directly, but my squad is low on health and die to her biotic blast thing and I follow them soon after. Any suggestions? I'm a Vanguard, have Advanced Warp, Throw, Lift, Barrier, and something else.

Just be patient. That seems like one of the most difficult parts of the game and if you're biotic powers aren't strong yet then it can definitely be tough. Just sit back and try to pick off her team slowly without getting hit. You'll get it sooner or later.

send your stupid ass team members somewhere to cower and not get shotthen kill all the 3 man teams yourself with the sniper rifle and suchthen get your fully healthy team to help out with the final part[Edited on May 11, 2008 at 4:04 PM. Reason : .]

He said he's a vanguard. He might not have a sniper. I used the sniper too, but it's a lot easier to kill with the guns than it is with the biotic powers (when you first start out anyway).
5/11/2008 4:16:25 PM
yeah, good call.good luck with allllll that
5/11/2008 4:20:38 PM
Yeah, it seems I'll have to go back and redo the phase one myself so that I can keep the team alive for the second part. I'm a vanguard so I can't use a sniper rifle, only pistol and shotgun, but my biotics are relatively strong so I can manage to get some kills with them.

Ended up putting my teammates in a corner while I fought the first wave, but the chick died in the next wave...and I found out that the more time I spent in the cutscene with the Matriarch the more health the chick was able to regenerate. Interesting mechanism.Had to blow all my loads on the Matriarch to finish her off quickly and get some clutch kills on her goons but beat the mission. Now that I've had a chance to do more of the game its actually pretty fun .

"Beat" the game at about 24 hours, doing all of the side quests I found, exploring every single planet and getting most every debris, double metal, and other anomaly shit I could find.Have about 24 achievements left, most of which are gun kills, biotic use, and dragging along another squad mate for 75% of the game. That alone will take about 3 play throughs to complete, wouldn't it?
5/23/2008 1:31:39 AM
I definitely didn't try to complete all the achievements.
