Of course the most entertaining MLS game I've seen no one will watch, since it's on FSC and not ESPN or 2.

just an ol' fashion shootout. It was exactly the kind of game the MLS needs, and it should get some noteable time on sportscenter tonight, so for those of you tired of having soccer shoved down your throats, you might want to relax your jaws if your watching espn tonight.

juan pablo angel with a spot kick under the wall a-la ronaldinho last year.

beckham with two assists to pavone in two minutes, both off set peices.

clint mathis with a rebound strike just before the half

altidore with a goal to start the second half, then another in the 70th minute

landon donavon with a goal less than a minute afterwards to make it 3-2 NY.

buddle scores for LA off of another beckham corner after the assist hits the post

juan pablo angel ends the game just as he started it with a game winner in the 88th minute.

overall a good game, sour loss for LA, but a great showing for the MLS. glad i watched.

It was great to see a 5 to 4 game with no defense and two of the DP's playing against each other. Angel is amazing and so is Altidore. They have to be the best front line in the league. I hope Altidore gets some time with the senior national team. The US could use him.

dammit i missed this game...saw the highlights on FSW today, looked like a great game

off topic, but Jozy Altidore looks like he could finally be the 'real deal' striker America has been looking for for the national team

i think the guy who got headbutted....which doesnt make any sense, if anything Chivas shouldve had 2 players sent off just then, not 1 for 1

yea that's what i woulduv done, i didn't see any reason for the headbutted guy to get sent out.

yeah, who got carded for LA?

That was crazy, that dousche for the other team is such a pussy. Earlier he took a dive he tried to argue was a foul and there it was really obvious that he wasn't making a play on the ball.

But, it's really cool to see Beckham bring some intensity!

Also, that guy who headbutted the other guy missed his headbutt the first time and got him on the second. What a tard, he probably messed the guys mug up, right in the damn nose.

Anyway, Beckham has me watching soccer that's for sure, you can definetely just tell that he's better than anyone else in the league.

along with the premiership, there have been soem dumb ref decisions lately...

i still wish some rules of soccer would change, or moreso, have 2 refs on the field, one to run each half. also camera on goalline is essential. diving needs to be judged after games if the refs miss during the game(like give the player a post game yellow card or something if its an obvious dive). also let close offsides go, i like defense, but i also like offense and so many close calls are called offsides

I know that soccer is revered because of the non-stop action, but if all these players (CRISTIANO RONALDO) are going to do a bunch of blatant dives and then bitch about it, I think there is a need for some sort of instant replay. The game is stopped enough from that alone that if a ref took a minute to confer with other refs or look at a replay on a close call (game-changing calls), then games may run smoother. At least the MLS should adopt this, as American sports are really the only sports in the world with instant replay. I don't think many other leagues need it as badly (maybe the Premier League).

the galaxy player threw a punch, which is why he got headbutted.

The all-time greatest argument for instant replay in soccer:

i don't think there should be replay.

a great example in the video above, after moments like that, the game gets soo heated and passionate it's much more exciting to watch.

now i know there are valid arguments for each side, but i like soccer just because it's so basic. it's a "primitive" game that i dont' think needs to be updated with instant replay.

ahh, to add to one of the things i hate...PKs. To me penalty kicks should only be awarded if a direct chance on goal is thwarted. I was just watching the argentinian highlights show on FSW and the ref gave a penalty for a player who got tripped up running away from the goal at the top of the box(it was basically a 50/50 ball the player dribbled backwards with, but his heel got tripped up when the defender tackled for the ball). My problem is that there shouldnt be a direct kick 1 on 1 with the keeper for prob about half the penalties that are called in todays game

honestly with the class of players today, the penalty spot should realistically be moved back to like the 18

replay in soccer would mean stopping the game, which is lame as all hell

the only replay needed would be in goalline situations, and this could be done upstairs and be sent down to the ref in prob less than a minute...

I'm not a fan of instant replay, I like the human element of the game and even though it may not go in your favor one game, it typically tends to even out. I am a fan of maybe adding another ref or maybe one behind each goal. I also think the penalty spot should be moved back so it's basically not an automatic goal.

When you're running up and down a field for 90 minutes pretty much non-stop (save for halftime), fatigue can be a bit of a factor.

he just got done playing a full season in europe, and didnt get much time off before coming here to play in the mls. this is ridiculous if you think hes wimping out or whatever...

im fairly certain many nba players didnt/wouldnt play for their country because of the fatigue it would cause since a lot of games the national team plays is in the offseason

so basically this should be beckham's offseason, to recover from a season and be ready for the next...yet he is continuing to play

Eric Staal played more than 30 minutes in one game in '03-04 (?) and he was never the same for the rest of the season. Fatigue can absolutely ruin a player's season if mismanaged.
