I wouldn't argue about Nemesis (although the ending scene was great on that movie), but the later TNG movies were very trekkie, I think.

"I mean it's fine to find out for yourself, but since the beginning of time critics have been an important part of any form of media. you can disagree with one reviewer, but you can't make a blanket statement saying, "you don't usually trust" all reviewers."

Well, I can make that blanket statement, and I did. But what I am basically saying is that reviews are always different across the board - and often a reviewer I agreed with on one movie I will completely disagree with on another. Of course that's the case with everyone - which is why I don't trust reviews. The only reviews I trust, actually, are from my brother. He and I share the same taste in movies and tv shows, almost 100%. He's the one who got me to watch voyager when I'd heard it was bad and had already not appreciated DS9 (he shares my distaste for ds9 too). I don't hate ds9, I just don't get much out of it.

Voyager, though - Janeway rocks, Tuvac is cool, love Nelix and The Doctor, even Kess was an interesting character. The only thing I really liked about DS9 was Odo. The captain was cool, I guess. Then again, it's been years since I've seen it, so maybe I can give it another try.

But honestly, my favorite, though for purely nostalgic reasons, is TNG. My family and I always watched it, as often as it came on it seems, and I wouldn't be into Trek without it and the bonding I shared with my fam watching it

voyager was terrible. The plots were recycled TNG but with boring characters. The only character that didn't suck was the holodoc. Everyone else was forgettable.

Here is a graph for you:

Dude, one time Janeway and Paris evolved into LIZARDS and totally had lizard sex.

I challenge you to find me something equally awesome from DS9

I guess I do like "bad" scifi, though - old doctor who, movies with spaceships hung by visible strings, shots with screwed up lines that nobody bothered to cut and reshoot... so maybe that's part of it. But either way, I like Voyager. I refuse to rebuke it. If I rewatch DS9 and decide I like it now, I'll retract my claim about it.

I don't see how you like TNG but dislike DS9. They are more similar to each other than Voyager and TNG are, to me.

That Voyager episode is called "Threshold," and it is quite possibly the most infamous episode in all of Star Trek. Even the producers and cast have panned it and declared it as not being part of the official canon. You know your shit stinks when even you can't stand it.

Which scene was that?

Voyager gets at least some points for having big fat borg titties.

I liked Voyager because of all the "time" episodes and Robert Picardo rocked as the Doctor

i do recall a 2 parter called "year of hell" or something from voyager that wasn't bad. I think it had red forman in it or something. I saw it a long time ago tho.

I found the actor playing the doctor competent and funny at times, but the whole mechanics of his holographicness hard to swallow. Neelix and whatever the vaguely attractive chick's name was were boring. Janeway sounds like she was one cigarette and whiskey away from a laryngectomy. The other characters were forgettable. No one gives a shit about the Delta quadrant.

It did feature at least a few episodes with Q on it though so I guess it had something going for it. And I guess there was a lot of Borg.

I enjoyed the doctor. couldn't stand the engine or tupacvok
I liked Tom Paris somewhat, but I wish he had been grittier, considering his "past"

You know what else was pretty good? Enterprise Season 3. The one with the Xindi. Initially I thought the premise sounded stupid, but it ended up being the only season of Star Trek I actually purchased.

are awesome?

*awkward nerd high five for omicron re: doctor who, which ends in us only barely getting it right and stumbling, causing us to drop our books and adjust our taped glasses*

speaking of enterprise, the 2 main things that have caused me to avoid it probably unnecessarily:

1.) theme song. jesus christ, really? vomit.
2.) There was an episode, one of the first I saw, where Archer is debating with them on whether they should help some people on a pre-warp planet. He makes some speech like "perhaps one day, we will have rules about these things, and this... prime directive... will dictate what to do in situations like this one." Hilarious. It was SO camp.

Theme songs are one of the most important parts of any series like Star Trek/Star Wars, etc.

And someone said DS9 was terrible

Are you kidding?

Klingons going on the offensive?

Romulan's getting assraped by the dominion?

Odo having to choose between friends and his species?

and lets not forget the follow up alternate universe episode where we learn of the results of Evil Spock's transformation.

DS9's last 5 seasons were beyond epic.

Way better the Babylon 5, which amounted to Sheridan convincing the two oldest races in the galaxy that its ok to be afraid of the dark.

The last episode of DS9 sucked. I always hate endings that tie everything up in a neat little package. *shrug*

TNG's finale was best of the series.

Voyager's was good to because it eliminated the possibility of any future episodes or movies ("they're home, its over! the end!!!")

OK, OK, OK. But to be fair, I didn't say DS9 was terrible. Just that I didn't like it. But you've all convinced me to go watch it again some time. I probably just didn't see enough of it, didn't enjoy what I was seeing (it was years ago, as I said), then was convinced by my brother that it wasn't worth the time.

I'll check it out.

^FYI, she is the reason Obama is president right now.

She was divorcing the republican senate candidate, Jack Ryan, when it came out in the proceedings that he had tried to take her to a public sex S&M club and she refused (prude).

Thus, Jack Ryan dropped out of the race, Alan Keyes ran in his place, and Obama won the easiest senate campaign ever.
