^We'll continue to see that trend, our defense is very offensively talented.

Also, I think they should play Leighton tonight, he definitely deserves the start. He's looked better than Ward-o.

I honestly think if the trend continues with goalies, Ward is going to be riding the bench. He has hardly played as well as Leighton and Leighton is using his opportunity and making the most of it. How long of a contract did we sign him to? I think we need to have him for the duration of Ward's contract as he needs that extra push. The only thing that worries me about both goalies is their rebound control, which is the main thing we have to watch out for tonight with Crosby, Malkin and co tonight.

And I agree with the post of Jrb599 that we'll continue to be inthe top offensive defensemen the whole year due to that whole revamping of the defense lead to a lot more offensive minded players coming in.

It's a shame Mark Parrish didn't want to do the try out contract and now he signed in the AHL, he could've had a pretty good year here this year playing alongside Brindy or Staal. He's a finisher and that would've worked well, especially if the other post earlier about Ruutu being out a while, we're going to need someone on Staal's wing who can absorb hits. I love the talent on his line now, but he had more space with Ruutu and that's what he needs to be the most effective (and not get hurt).

^^^Ward always picks his game up when another Goalie is challenging him. I think Leighton and Ward will fight each other for number 1, hopefully giving us solid goal tending.

I thought Leighton played solid last game, but in my uninformed layman's opinion, I didn't think he was spectacular by any means. He took great positioning on a lot of shots, but he also gave up a lot of big rebounds and ventured too far out of the net at times. I seem to recall a defenseman or two playing goalie and saving his ass on a couple of occasions. He'd charge the puck, give up the rebound, and find himself 10-15' in front of the net. Seidenberg in particular stepped it up inside the crease and saved at least one goal.

But he's good, and he and Cam will make a formidable duo this year.

If they both play their best hockey, Ward is a better goalie. However, so far Ward is far from his best. Hopefully Leighton pushes him to regain his for he has shown for stretches.

Canes/Isles in the ears, Sens/Leafs for the eyes. Hopefully I can forget about how dreadful the Devils played in the third period.
