zero percent never.

we won't. this team will fold. egypt is going to come out strong. if they win, they only need brasil to win to advance. even if they win and italy wins, they can advance on goal differentials, meaning they are going to play with more passion (surprise) than we are.

the only good thing about this scenario, is that italy and egypt both need to win, and brasil is not likely to bend over and take it, so the games on sunday should at least be competitive

i actually follow egyptian futbol a lot (wife is egyptian) and i don't see how we beat them. The question is: is it going to be another 10 vs 11 affair.

It's almost unfair in a way, the rest of the world's best athlete's usually end up playing futbol, not so here.

not really.. I mean.. If you were a stud athlete would you rather grow up in a dirt poor country where there is only one main sport? Or grow up in a country where you have at least 4 major sports you can play to get a college scholarship or make millions playing pro?

I say 4, but you could go down the list of sports that give most americans the chance to get a ride to college or play professionally and soccer would be pretty far down that list.

^^Well the goalkeeper made some amazing saves at point blank range that 9 times out of 10 are goals. How Italy didn't at least end up with a 1-1 tie is amazing.

^^LOL seriously? Are you assuming that all these nations are dirt poor and the US is not? The United States is practically one of very few nations in the world that isn't huge on soccer.

^They don't bother me as much as they do other people, but I don't think it will be that big of a deal during the World Cup. Countries like South Africa and Mexico will have fans that use them and other nations like England and Germany probably won't.

RSXTypeS she (which means 'we') are al-Ahly supporters. Muhammad Abu Treika is an amazing dude. Totally underrated player on the world stage, turned down a boat load of money to stay with al-Ahly this past season, and every goal so far in this cup he's been a part of.

Are they not showing both games today? And if they're only going to show one, why is it New Zealand/Iraq?

One thing that needs to change before next year is the quality of the satellite feed. I haven't watched a game yet where they didn't lose the feed for multiple minutes.

donovan has been good this game, but i'm really glad to see davies up front, he looks like he actually wants to win, and he's running all over the place. his goal wasn't the best but it counts

get dempsey off the field, he's fucking around too much, its like he's not taking the game seriously

brazil will do it, but bradley said before the game that he doesn't want to attack too much, so we probably won't do it

There's only one Charlie Davies!

Like, I said in the other thread we need more Davies. He hustles and keeps some pressure on the opposing defense.

I hope Egypt has a little less urgency after seeing Brazil's halftime score. They will probably play with an extra defender or 2.
